  • amigo como lo aterrizas????

  • They do not bank all the way down, only on certain parts.

  • amazing...

  • hey y cant the asronats use skype and take a video caht wid his cell

  • Great music. New World Symphony Movement III!

  • you done such a nice undocking and rentry but unfortunaly a terrible landing. ;-)

  • What game is this? I WANT IT!

  • Nice job, God bless America.

  • Where is the brake parachute???

  • @MegaMike0304 He's using Columbia, which didnt have a parachute

  • Can you make a video on how to use orbiter?

  • You know, if someone made an updated shuttle commander for a game console and managed to make it engaging while still realistic, we'd have a whole generation of kids who could intellectually challenge china's/india's engineers instead of aspiring to be some asshole who gets paid millions to toss a fucking ball around on some grass. Or snookie.

  • Oh...Atlantis.

  • Is that Space Shuttle Columbia?

  • you know that you do normally burn at 2:13

  • whats the software you are using?

  • Is there an Edwards AFB landing?

  • 2:18 ... i thought it was really going to explode lol

  • You undock with ctrl+D

  • Can anybody help me on how to find this software? Thanks.

  • @celsoalvizi type in "orbiter" on google, first website. windows only.

  • how did u un-dock i can not find out D:

  • hey, don't they feel hot inside? or do they feel the reentry inside like their chest was sinking?

  • HI KERMITT WHERE IS THE OLD SONG???. THAT WAS FANTASTIC FOR THIS VIDEO...CAN YOU ATTACH THAT SONG FOR THIS VIDEO...?..

  • The Orbiter shown in this video is Columbia, not Atlantis. This is visible when the vehicle banks, and shows the black areas on the wings. The top of the tailfin is also black ,like Challenger, but Challenger did not use these wing markings,so this Orbiter is Columbia. The name is visible on the payload bay doors.Columbia is the only orbiter to have the name on the payload bay doors.

  • I hate these animation piece of shits!

Only 5 year olds doing this crap.

  • This is a space flight simulator called Orbiter. You can download it FREE at the Orbiter website. Be warned though,it's not a game,it's a very realistic simulator with a pretty steep learning curve. In other words...it's rocket science!.Highly recommended. BTW, nice vid Kerm...

  • Is this a game video? If so what game or sim is it?

  • Comment removed

  • Great video, great soundtrack, you're the man

  • That would of been a hard ass landing great vid btw

  • This is the music that goes through my girlfriends head every time she tries to parallel park.

  • At 2:03 It looks like columbia

  • How do you turn your glass civility on

  • How do I do an S-turn??

  • What is this game called? Looks pretty interesting.

  • Can you download this sim ?

  • wtf is thisss!!?? wow u nerddss

  • keep practicing. especially the approach and landing haha

  • Just out of curiosity, what early space shuttle mission were you attempting to simulate?

  • That was a bad touchdown!!!! But I learned how make a good aerobraking!!!

  • Man, i thought it will in KFC in a moment XD

  • how did you get these effects of re-entry of fire smoke etc?

  • Was this done with aerorake MFD?

  • how do i deorbit burn?

  • how do u zoom in and out

  • I do have to say that since I have actually watched a shuttle land at KSC, this landing is from the wrong direction. It's supposed to land from a north to south approach to the runway, not from south to north as seen in the video. I'm not sure if they switch directions sometimes, but the one I saw landed from the north. Cool video though

  • @V10Gator

direction of landing depends of the wind

mainly is from north to south (using runway 15) but it happens also on runway 33 when winds are not favorable

  • @kermitt1 I didn't realize that. Thanks

  • @kermitt1 This game is equally frustrating to learn as it is fun to play. I have been for a couple months learning how to launch and do the basics. The only thing I have accomplished is obtaining orbit "free hand" since I learned how to without understanding my instrumentation. Now im slowly learning everything I would like to eventually get to where I can complete a full apollo mission.

  • Bad quilty

  • @kermitt1 Lol. I wasn't making confrontation. It's an awesome video.

  • @kermitt1 But you're in the era of the ISS, in which the shuttle does have parachute...

  • @codywaynejones

    mmmzz..that's true lol

well..to give some explanations: this video was not made in one take...i did it in various segments

the undocking was with Shuttle Fleet V3

the reentry and landing was done with STS-Payloads

Chute comes out automaticaly normaly with shuttle fleet but i think i choosed an early mission

but hey...that's not the most important i think....

  • Nice video, albeit a bit of a heavy landing and I think the gear came down too early, as well as the nose after main gear contact.....minor points though :)

  • @dburford9

the first era of shuttles didn't have parachute...

    now you fail

  • Good that, how did you do it?

  • subhan alah.............................

  • DYUUUUM what effects addon you using?

  • for the landing you use the tutorial replay but good video

when i want to do a re-entry my shuttle go take altitude why ?

  • @XxSnitzelQc

    you're wrong

i used a replay of my own recorded landing (you can record your own stuff in orbiter and replay it)

the tutorial landing is far more precise then mine

  • @kermitt1 how you get that program its a game or something like that?

  • @XxSnitzelQc Because you're "bouncing" on the higher reaches of atmosphere like when you throw a pebble at a shallow angle, to make it jump off calm water (usually a lake). If you rotate the shuttle sideways (to one side, then to the other to avoid route deviation and also to prevent overheating from the same side, methinks), just like an airplane, (performing a series of S-turns), you'll trade speed for heat without producing too much lift (which is causing your ship to "bounce-back" to orbit).

  • like the dvorak

  • Nice approach, OK lineup with runway but improve your flare (a little earlier and a little higher pitch). At that rate of descent when touching down the landing gear would collapse. Use the Speed Brake (Ctrl+B) to reduce your approach speed..

  • umm, i dont think the shuttle re-enters sideways, otherwise in the absence of the head sheild it will disintergrate, however i play this game, and know you could enter any way and ingame it stays in one piece.

  • you should not disengage with ur bomber doors open

  • This is gona sound stupid, but: With the Shuttle A (the futuristic one( not talking about the Delta Glider)), how do you dump the cargo pods?

Nice, landing btw. The most accurate I've ever gotten has been.......well........the surface. Period.

  • @Terran123rd

    i don't use Shuttle A

but take a look in the user's manual of Orbiter (It's in your main Orbiter archive)

  • @kermitt1 That was the first place I looked, but it didn't say. Thanks anyway.

  • @Terran123rd

try this:Ctrl-Up Arrow key will show a set of switches on an upper panel, flip these to release the pods.

  • @kermitt1 worked like a charm. Thanks!

  • @farasha74 look in the title ITS IN CAPITAL LETTERS OK

  • didn't you forget the parachutes?

  • @SuburbAllied

    nope

the first shuttle flights didn't have a parachute brake system

  • what is the name of the game

  • OMG this game is so annoying when you click on a panel to zoom in and it bloody switches one of the switches!!

  • Sorry for the question, but is this in "real-time"? I mean, does it take about 7 mins from the moment the ship undocks until it lands?

  • @lveaasaez Nah its not real time

  • @HotFuzz456 Thanks for your answer!

  • @lveaasaez

This is mostly in real time, but some parts are sped up.

  • @piplupsingularity Thanks for your answer!

  • Nice and acurate reentry , the most acurate reentry i ever did i landed on iceland , that cause i was supposed to land at KSC

  • Nice deorbiting... the most acurate reentry i ever did in Orbiter I landed at Iceland :D i was supposed to land in Canaveral cape.

  • The reentry flame is insane!

  • What simulator is this:?

  • @callofdutywawcj1 Orbiter

  • what is this beautiful music?

  • @tlages Dvorak's Ninth Symphony, 3rd movement

  • aliens??????????

    /watch?v=8NcOTcd8FoU

  • @jrprvs2000 It starts its re-entry with a deorbit burn, where it's upside down. Then it performs a ~200 degree pitch maneuver untill it has a +40 degree pitch. After it crosses into the atmosphere it banks to one side or the other in a series of s-curves. It banks right away to deflect the lift vector to the side. Otherwise it will push it self back out of the atmosphere. And no it's not the same speed as a bullet from a rifle. It's about 20 times that.

  • @jrprvs2000 a rifle bullet is waaaaayyyy slower than the space shuttle, on re-entry it is a Mach 25 or ca. 27000 kph. If you would fire a bullet at the atlantis, from six o clock, the atlantis would outrun the bullet. The fastest bullet is the Winchester .223 Short Super Magnum at around 4400 kph.

  • @kermitt1 its cool that u landed it, but ummm just wanna let u know with that herp derp entry u would have gotten all your astronauts killed lol

  • Where is the shoot deployment at the end. To slow down.

  • how do you close the hull . my sim it doesn´t work sry for my bad english i hope you understand

  • Comment removed

  • whats the game called

  • @mydeadspace2

    It's called orbiter

  • what game is that?

  • @halokyle112 Orbiter space flight simulator

  • @jrprvs2000 Shuttle reentry speed: 25,400 feet per second

bullet from rifle speed: 1000 to 5000 feet per second

    NOT THE SAME

  • Excellent video and with the proper selection of music. I think I have seen somewhere where it does re-enter upside down and backward, so as to place the heat absorbing blocks on the under-belly to the extreme heat from re-entry. I could be wrong on that. Either way, this is an excellent video and animation.

  • how you can know where is landing base?

  • I don't see what's wrong

  • 0:56 looks like a made face. _ V _

  • where's the drag chute on t/down ? lol sts go around ...!!! nice sim vid very clever

  • Can i be an astronaut if i have constant anxiety attacks?

  • @Arayik777

im on the same boat as you want to be an astronaut and i working hard on this.

best way is to expose to intense amount of stress and test your ability on stress endurance and anxiety attacks.keep exposing keep practicing,be at the worst state of mind and recover keep practicing more and more like keep going into dangerous situation that fear you, then move on to the extreme.basically you can even go even more mentally stabled than a regular person who is.

  • @xHzDxKING i wish you the best of luck my dude. I hope you graduated from MIT when you were like 14 tho. Millions of people try but only a handfull will ever go on a mission to space. You have roughly 0.00001% chance of pulling it off, so i hope your studying hard. lol

  • nice entry! but landing....nice vid at all!!

  • @kermitt1 actuaklly they do many turns not just one bank. dont believe me look at this from LTA16 The heat strips electrons from the air

around the Space Shuttle, enveloping it in a sheath of ionized air that blocks all communication with the

ground for about 12 minutes. During this interval the pilot will perform several banking maneuvers

called roll reversals or S-turns to control descent. you only preformed one

  • @jrprvs2000 the shuttle travels 25x faster than a bullet on re-entry..a regular commercial jet can travel faster than a bullet...

  • how do i switch between difrent control panels?

  • how do i switch between difrent control panels?

  • what game?

  • It's all very well going in to space living on a space station but from my point of view what for i don't get nothing for it. Billions of pounds gone into it when that money could of gone to third world countries. A child dies every three seconds, how many died when billions of pounds that could of saved them blasts in to space. Up there dosen't matter the problem is here and im fed up of all this money being wasted when children are dying eyes need to be opened

  • @cassiefull That very space station you speak of is also a lab being used to study and treat cancer and disease. Money well spent in my EYES.

  • @Jtoneloc Why are they studying it up there. Children wouldn't be dying if they were given the money to take tablets to prevent the disease. People are studying the cure for cancer on earth.

  • @cassiefull

because zero gravity provides a way in which to cure cancer and/or diseases..Honestly you think they're fiddling their thumbs up there?..their risking their lives to better mankind..All the faith I have is placed upon NASA in doing great things for mankind..example: Helping the Chilean mine workers..The studying NASA is doing may honestly save our planet..not just the children..

  • @Jtoneloc correction..MIcrogravity

  • @jrprvs2000 actually, it's traveling MUCH faster than a bullet from a rifle.

  • where i can download this reentry effects ?

  • OMG thats FASTTTTTTTTTTT :D wow this is sooo cool (:

  • @jrprvs2000 It orbits the wrong way around and fires thrusters that turn and slow it and it enters nose side first. As I understand it the angle is critical because it will be the difference between burning up in the atmosphere and getting down in one piece.

  • idiot show the real thing!!!

  • @saussageface dude it said orbiter.... geezz orbiter is a game, if you want to see the real thing search for nasa IDIOT

  • You banked it too much into atmosphere, the astronauts and orbiter itself would burn to ashes.

  • Is this from a sim?

  • @davido53

oh boy, just saw the title....

    tks for posting!

  • @jrprvs2000 can you tell me the name of the game!

  • @razza9856 Google " orbiter ". First link.

  • Heya Kermitt!. I think people don't understand perspective, which is why the "banking" is confusing them. In a regular flight profile, you bank relative to the ground. An 80 degree bank, placing wingtip towards the ground, causing lift to change a vector, or direction of travel. If people just WATCH your video, due to the speeds and thinner atmosphere, you can clearly see the shuttle "surfs" towards thicker atmosphere, and the changes in angles use what little air to change direction (and drag).

  • UR wrong. No drag in space! Shuttle begins backwards and upside down. Then flips before hitting atmosphere. Thus, black heat resistant tiles on bottom of shuttle protect craft. Shuttle bay area could not withstand heat of reentry. After ionized gas dissipates shuttle can begin banking maneuvers. After a few sonic booms the shuttle has slowed enough to glide to landing destination.

Also drag shoots (parachutes) to assist in stopping.

  • THIS IS A GAME ALSO!!!!!!! ITS A GAME -_-

  • the shuttle doesnt enter the atmosphere LIKE THAT.... it floats backwards then flips over at a 30 degree angle

  • WHAT PROGRAM?

  • @jrprvs2000 Learn2Wikipedia before posting utter garbage, thank you. :)

  • you forgot to deploy the speed chute!

  • @jrprvs2000 dude you are wrong

  • @jrprvs2000 The only time the shuttle flies backwards and upside down for reentry is for the reentry burn itself. Right after that, it turns around to face the orbiter roughly in the direction of flight with a moderate pitch-up angle so that the underside of the shuttle takes the greatest heating. The orbiter does do a series of "S" turns during entry at high angles of attack (up to 40 degrees from the direction of flight) to bleed off speed and to change the ground track somewhat if needed.

  • Why don't we have giant space ships that are assembled in space because their so huge like the one in the movie The Rodger Young - Starship Troopers?it would be like the f-22 all the country could invest into it come on don't you wanna see some real sci-fi shit in your life time?

  • Can you please tell me what addons you are using

  • @smosh3box He is most possibly using "Earth Level 10 textures". I can't notice any other addons than that.

  • @CodeGreen47 Then why is the re-entry flames so red and orange?

  • @smosh3box Well, you should be grateful I told you one of them, I don't know what is reentry addon he uses, just google it, btw, why would you need it.. It's enough to have nice Earth textures...

  • that was defenately more than 80 degrees... and it made no motion any other direction than completely straight.. pretty unrealistic

  • Is This A Game Or Just A Animation? Cause If It Is A Game I SHOULD GET IT! I LOVE SPACE SHUTTLES!

  • @TrainGuy33 It's a game, google it, there is 2010 version out, so get that newer one.

  • @jrprvs2000 your right plus his landing sucked wasnt even in the middle plus didnt have the nose far enough down

  • Whats the tempature on re-entry?

  • Dude! A video game with instructions would be awesome, but bloody long. How long does a re-entry takes anyway? I think I saw something that fell of the orbiter burn off in the atmosphere last night.

  • and it travels 9x faster that that bullet u mentioned

  • @jrprvs2000 Yeah your wayy off. they bank while reentry to control heating and trajectory adjustments

  • @jrprvs2000 the shuttle does banking turns to decelerate during re-entry in order to keep the ship from burning up. the heat shield has high heat resistance but it's not invulnerable to heat. Too much speed and it will melt.

  • good work pakistan

  • @kermitt1 he is actually right.

  • Comment removed

  • There is a fatal flaw in the video, I did not see the chutes deployed, if they don't then ORBITER is history.

  • @jrprvs2000 baha! you got owned

  • nice A+++ music and vido thnkas

  • u kno it dropps the gear @ 300 feet in the preflare, and touches down at under 5 feet/second

  • lol cool ^_^

  • Orbiter has ILS functionality built-in to the MFDs.....had you used it, you could have come down on a much better glideslope/alignment.

  • @TheSekro14 I stand corrected.

  • ihr pros^^ ich bekomm nichmal nen simplen start hin in den orbit ich stürz immer ab xDDDDD habt ihr vllt. tipps für mich oder so??? :D

  • Yesterday i bought Spaceshutlle Mission Simulator 2007, but expensive 48 eur with fees, and this is free, better and newer nice :) Thanks for upload, thumb up :P

  • @Istuscz ehm, its not better, clip looks nice but in real its not so much real like Space Shuttle Mission Simulator 2008

  • lol when it said KSC in sight i tought it was KFC in sight I tought the spacemen were hungry..lol

  • Where can I find a tutorial for reentry on Orbiter 2010?

  • omg i saw my house i live in florida

  • I think this 'song' is Beetoven's 3rd Symphony. I am not a Classical Music buff but I know Beetoven when I hear it.
