I learned mikes mess from mike the inventor of this pattern. you have taken mikes mess and put a wee frilly bit on it. nice pattern but slightly different from mikes mess!
you know you might be right! learned the pattern years ago then found out it was slightly different to what i learned. very difficult pattern to convey in words! i may have been confused slightly with another pattern by the same guy called the funky mess! sorry about that! :)
By the way, is there a name for juggler's tennis when it's mills' messed? (If that makes sense). Look at my video (although be warned, it's fairly crap) if I'm not making any sense..
The difference between underarm throws and Mike's mess is not how the hands are moving - there is no chop necessary in Mike's Mess. The real difference is that Mike's mess has an underarm CATCH as well as throw. It is a mills mess variant of the siteswap 522.
The catch is underarm when you're doing consistent underarm throws as well. The difference is the motion in which it is thrown. You swing your arm over your other arm, come up back around and then underneath. That's the Mike's Mess move.
ok now that you got us all on the right track let us see the difference between Burkes burrage and Lukes burrage....most tutorials on burkes burrage are taking the ball up top the pattern(called takeouts).
I want the final deal on those 2 tricks: burkes and lukes
I think you may be confused... Burke's Barrage is a popular 3 ball trick. Luke Burrage is the name of a talented juggler. There is a trick called Luke's Shuffle, as JeremeK writes, but it is not very similar to Burke's Barrage.
I posted a new video on three different shuffles: Slow Shuffle, Shuffle, and Luke's Shuffle. You can see what Luke's Shuffle looks like. Luke Burrage is the name of a juggler but he did not invent Burke's Barrage (Ken Burke did) nor did he invent Luke's Shuffle. Burke's Barrage is pronounced like bar ij (not ber oj).
I know well about Luke himself :) I have just often heard lukes burrage also as a trick but never really got anyone to show it so I suppose it was a misunderstanding then.
I do lukes shuffle a lot....but everyone around me calls it the boston shuffle. I am in germany
Luke's Shuffle and the Boston Shuffle are different. Luke's Shuffle is the Shuffle done on both sides, Boston Shuffle is the SLOW SHUFFLE done on both sides.
Reverse Chops look a lot like Burke's Burrage, except EVERY ball is being taken OUTSIDE the pattern rather than EVERY OTHER throw taken THROUGH the pattern.
where are you in this vid

Can you do a tutorial on how to perform chops? It is the cleanest and most clearly 'chop like' that I've seen.

I'm questioning your statement, although I'm going by the description given in Dancey's Encyclopedia of Ball Juggling book.

That was a good tutorial. not that i can do it, but what I should be doing was fairly clear. And I like your accent.. Kentucky? Tennessee?

So I wasn't too many states off then? cool.

Yes, it makes sense. I'm not sure if there is a name. There are so many Mills' Mess variants.

I've never heard of "Luke's Barrage". I've heard of Luke's Shuffle, is this what you are talking about?

Actually that is a very good breakdown.
The reverse chops is a like the luke's or burke's burrage too...
