  • I think everyone it's making a huge deal out of this. And I belive everyone should shut the fuck up.

  • Keep in mind that the parent was telling the kid what to say and also, if he made a mistake, the parent would have fixed it.

  • true, i know it is outrageous regarding the numbers of lives at stake, but people are simply transform this small issue into a chaos and the suspension of the employee who only tried to give his kids a brief opportunity to tryout what their dad does for his whole life.

  • I need my big huge dick sucked

  • Feb. 17th, this happened on my birthday!

  • an air traffic controller's job is to be taken with grave seriousness, because many lives are on the line in those planes...a child shouldn't even be in there....remember not long ago when people died because of a distracted controller on the phone...?

  • @kittenrenea,

Yeah, because we all know how dangerous it is.. Morons who don't know anything about air traffic control shouldn't really comment on what it is and how it is. Seriously. If anything the child boosted the safety of the air traffic.. by keeping adults around him alert - The main challenge of an air traffic controller job is to deal with the boring routine and still keep focus.

  • @utubehayter..well, I figured someone like yourself would reply with a comment like that.and btw, I used to date a man who was an air traffic controller for years, so put that in your pipe and smoke it (btw, you don't have to agree with everyone, but you can at least not resort to name-calling, and show some respect) :) well, I guess we need to get more kids in the air traffic controll room..according to your logic- hey- while we are at it, let's be sure and have a child in the plane flying too!

  • Sure.. why not have kids fly airplanes? I wish the day would come when every kid can fly a plane. In fact, I know it will. It is only a matter of time. Idiots who don't know anything about air traffic control will continue being bothered by it.. Good luck. Thanks for confirming the moron "name call". Why don't you date a deep sea diver and then go to sea? Or maybe a sky diver.

  • @utubehayter... ooh-you're a real sweetheart!

  • @utubehayter..... you definitely picked the right username for yourself :)

  • seriously, who really cares? if this had been done on a "bring your child to work day", nothing would've been said.

  • People are fucking pathetic. They take shit like this and over react by 10 fold. This kind of shit pisses me off.

  • i don't see why that was any problem or safety issue 'oh its unprofessional' shit give me a break i got to operate a D7 dozer at age 5 about that kids age,i think the reason this sent off a uproar was someone else was jealous their kid couldn't do it and that is unprofessional and unethical

  • the kid was in no way directing air traffic, his dad just let him say a few simple things, clear for takeoff isnt directing air traffic. people need to calm down, he was just showing his kid what he does.

  • Well, at least they didn't let a woman do it. ;p

  • i love how they say the kid was so comfortable that he decided to have some fun with the plane's crew.... You would think that it was something bad, but yet he said "adios" as if that is a horrible act.. hahah... loosen up people.. the kid's dad was right there doing his job and overseeing the entire thing..

let loose and have some fun before you die...

  • Stop being such a big bunch of crybabies Euro's...

    .

  • Is it me, or do Europeans seem like they don't like children? It seems like it's unbecoming, or "not cool" to have kids. Almost something you have to apologize for.

Unless, of course, they're gay, and hate America, then they're cool....

  • @brian8793 I heard a stat that there are more abortions in Europe then live births.. not sure if its true or not but it would be a good example of their dislike of children...

  • I heard that in Germany they have to PAY women to have children. Can you believe that? What a weird, selfish society...

  • @futurepilot26 Or their ability to recognize that they may be incapable of rearing a child at that point in their lives and thus simply choose not to.

  • @brian8793 The world already has way to many people. Maybe they recognize and feel a need to apologize for contributing the the problem. Some areas of the world have embraced a renaissance of thinking and taken on a more responsible pov.

  • You can fit every person on the planet in Montana...

  • I was being serious. There is room for MANY more people on this planet. We are developing technology that will support many, many more humans.

Christ's Government(The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) will reign for 1,000 years my man!

  • The father didn't mean any harm. Sadly though, this isn't the 60's anymore. People are scared of everyone know.

  • He was just repeating what his father told him to say. While it is unprofessional, this isn't worth the attention it's getting. Leave the kid and his dad alone.

  • typical media scare tactics for the society of fear.

  • obviously there was someone there telling him what to say.

  • wicked, fair play to the kid. its not like he was unsupervised doing it all on his own lol as long as he spoke clearly and at the right times its fine ( which he did)

  • ha! well the pilots didn't mind it was irresponsible to do it but it could of been worse

  • Who gives a shit? The pilots didn't mind it, that's what matters....

  • This is stupid. He wasn't "directing planes" and the media tries to make everyone believe. He was simply repeating what his father was saying. Big difference douchebags.

  • Blown out of all proportion. If the kid had been left unsupervised to direct planes, heads should roll.

But if the words they were relaying to the pilots were dictated by AND monitored by an expert listening in on the loop and sitting right next to them, then I can't see any scope for any harm being done.

    Total. non. event.

  • Welcome to the world of babytalking f*ckheads. This child was supervised. Get off the corncob and stop hitting the eeedyut pipe.

  • Oh for gods sake "how cud dis not distract da pilots omg da kid is a terrerist!!!!" PILOT'S JOBS MUST BE INCREDIBLY DULL BORING AND REPETITIVE OTHERWISE THEY WILL CRASH AND KILL US ALL.

  • Lol. XD

  • If the FAA is looking for problems, they might consider pilots who follow instructions given them by a child. Anybody can get their hands on a radio that transmits on airport frequencies...and, by the way, idle chatter on control frequencies is against the rules.

  • I wish my dad was a genochologist so he would've taken me to work and work on a coochy when I was 10 ....

  • "good judgement went off the radar" <--- screw you... the kid did the job (of just repeating what he/she was told) well... damn drama queens...

  • hey idiots, the next time you fly i hope the pilot has his kid fly the plane. after all, the adult will be right there, telling him what to do. it will bo so special for the little guy! Then, after you crash, ill piss on your graves.

  • @kakashi LOL ...these guys don't get it. They think its cute for the little guy to be following instructions and directing air traffic...idiots.

  • So sweet!!! What a lovely Daddy to bring his Child with him. Great job, Fellsa! TWO PROFESSIONALS.. We take our Children to work with us at least one time a year in America. Whoever thought to put this on the news in such a negative light should have the log removed from their dumb a**. Peace and love. If Daddy and Son read this: Hey! So proud to have Daddies and Children like you in the good ol' US of A !!

  • @foxfly23 yeah well i hope its your plane that crashes next time this happens.

  • Welcome to the world of FOXFLY23--where "take your kid to work day" now means "have your kid take over at work day".

Let us all welcome our surgeons, bus drivers, train engineers, pilots, etc who have young children to take over from their parents at work. Let us all be proud!

  • Jezuz H Chriest people, get a bit of perspective here. The child wasn't "controlling" anything, he was repeating whatever he was told. Stupid Washington bureaucrats have their panties all wadded up for nothing.

Kudos to "dad" for sharing something special with the little one.

  • @svaz2006 so this had no effect on the adult's attention huh? i hope the next time u fly the pilot lets his kid fly the plane. hey, the adult will be right there, telling him what to do! moron.

  • kakashi76767 you are either a troll or a neurotic little git who jumps from his/her own shadow. Either way, I'd rather let a child behind a controller's headset than let you behind a keyboard.

  • that doesnt make any sense, since i dont need your permission to get behind a keyboard, but whatever. i hope you die in a fire!! :)

  • well said

  • Did the passengers know--were they more bothered by "the price of airplane travel"?

We know now that the FAA subsequently found out--and we know now what the FAA thinks the risks were.

  • forget 9/11 and every 1 pick on the kid? smh

  • What idiot--apart from yourself--even thought "forget 9/11"?

  • my left brain

  • Evidently, a voice has occupied that empty space.

  • yours did rofl

  • ROFL at the one who said his/her left brain told him/her "forget 9/11; pick on a kid".

Pardon me if I don't join you in your ROFL.

  • OMG the kid is a terrorist ! GOD SAVE US ALL! fire the dad! lol

  • im sorry but this is being blown out of proportion.

just because the kid was "directing" doesnt mean it was his own directions, his father was telling him what to say. its as harmless as letting a kid answer calls for a CEO of a large company, if the kid said anything wrong im sure the father would have stepped in. lighten up

  • what is the problem here? he was just trasmitting the message his father was gonna say. Now this kid will see his dad get fired, he's gonna think it's his fault, kids do that to themselves. Another family destroyed for doing something innocent because the media needs a story but are too afraid to do actual journalism. So bring in sensationalism.

  • That sounds like fun. I think it is ok as long as the parent is right there telling the child what to say and I am sure they were. Let the kid have some fun. No harm done. The kid gets to go home and tell all of his/her friends about it too. They should offer simulators for kids who show an interest at an early age. Such as air traffic, police, fire, and more. If they want to do it let them. Makes for a better world.

  • Yeah! "Air traffic control towers at busy airports are for fun!"

Yeah! "Air traffic control towers at busy airports are there to enable kids to go home and tell all of their friends about it."

Yeah! "If they want to do it let them. Makes for a better world."

Never mind passengers whose lives are on the line. Oh, wait--no harm done UNTIL actual harm is done.

  • @gagothesith - I don't see your point. Please go on and explain. I will wait here day in and day out for your explanation. I will not eat, I will not sleep, I will just wait right here for you to explain. Please...go on!

  • EVIDENTLY, you don't see the IDIOCY of YOUR OWN ARGUMENTS either--

    1 "that sounds like fun!"

2 "it is ok as long as the parent is right there"

3 "let the kid have some fun. no harm done."

4 "the kid gets to go home and tell all of his/her friends about it too"

5 "If they want to do it let them. Makes for a better world."

    . . .

  • It has been five days.

And unless you spot the IDIOCY of the above five points immediately, you are condemned to at least a few more days of "waiting here day in and day out, not eating, not sleeping".

  • Hahahaha let the kid have some fun. It's not like his dad wasen't telling him what to say.

  • hey the kids father or mother was there so chill

    '

  • Everyone should be fired

  • I think though the idea is inspirational to childrens dreams and intenet not meant to be harmful, the repercussions of a potential accident undermind the importance of professionalism at all times both the cockpit and the tower. Human safetey is what is at stake here. Imagine the gravity of the situation had a childs voice been heard inside the cockpit instead. Same principles apply no less importance given.

  • yea i directed a plane once when i was a little kid lol it was pretty awsome

  • i see no problem with this, its awesome

  • if the child said something wrong I am 100% sure the pilot would know . The child was reading wat his/her father was telling them, everyone needs to fucking relax! god dam

  • @mcgrady7761 Agreed, I'm sure the pilots were smart enough to know that hey this little kid is giving instructions daddy/mommy must be telling him what to say. Not to mention the fact that i doubt any pilot would just listen to a kid on the radio like that otherwise. All of you who see this as a problem need to relax and use some common sense.

  • agreed, pretty much said everything I was going to say for me..thanks..lol

  • that is cool

  • chirock you dont mind a little girl controlling air traffic? lol are you flying to new york? :) let the kid have some fun

  • Ask yourself this ? If you were supervising JFK traffic control would you O.K. this ???

    Hell NO.

  • yes i would be ok if the parent said the kid was out of school right after the report

  • you guys are freaking crazy....I know the kid was just reading off a paper or repeating what his dad was telling him to say but still...What if all of a sudden anybody could go up there and start directing air traffic ???? i don't think the kid has OFFICIAL authorization to direct traffic...this is what it's all about....

  • Some fun on the job !!! HECK YEAH...

  • That was actually pretty cool

Im sure that his dad is just beside him

and making sure that the kid is doing the right thing

and the pilots actually didnt mind it

    awesome job!

  • LICH610

    > the pilots actually didnt mind it

1 Did the hundreds of passengers in each of the jets receiving directions from the child AND the hundred of passengers in each of the other jets in close proximity mind?

    2 Did the FAA mind?

  • @gagothesith

Im pretty sure that his dad is telling him what to do/say so... just relax a bit

    ^^

  • You're "pretty sure"? Well, considering that we already have children at the microphone in air traffic control towers at America's 6th busiest airport, what more harm could there be in trusting you--after all, you are "pretyy sure".

  • This is an interesting story. I couldn't believe it when I first heard it. Not to sound like a killjoy, but the controller(s) should have been ready for the consequences. Neat video!

  • atleast he knew what he was doing :D

  • "at least" . . . . Thank you for your words of comfort.

The hundreds of passengers in each jet at the time and henceforth, as well as Aviation Authorities in many countries send you their thanks.

  • Gosh they take it so damn seriously.

Its cool! The lil guy knows wut hes doin im sure! Go kid!

  • people are seriously making WAY too big of a deal out of this. the dad was with him telling him what to say-it's a normal bring kids to work day. and he only said 2 things-get over media and focus on real stuff!

  • Are all BRITS fuckin' RETARDED? The kid did NOT direct any landing flights. It was ONE departure flight. Go polish your yellow tooth and bow down to the Queen's bunghole, you dipshit.

  • It's not that bad. Did anyone get hurt? No. Did the pilots sound pissed? No. And if something did happen I'm sure the Dad could have stepped in and handled things. I think it was nice of the Dad to let his child help out. The people who blew this out of proportion are ridiculous.

  • in other news there were thirty plane crashes today

  • The media is definetly blowing this out of proportions. The child was under supervision and was told what to say. I dont understand how this is dangerous. Still a stupid decision on the parents side.

  • funny what things the media focuses on...

  • USA=teach kids to safely land a plane

Middle East=teach kids to shoot down a plane

  • Hahaha! :P

  • I think it is very cute. The kid is smart and his father must be a master at his job to be able to make his child to do it. although this may not be the wisest thing to do.

    @ ThePoopChef,

Just make sure when USA kid causes plane crash you don't immediately point your guns at Middle East kid. I cannot believe you just ripped middle eastern children from their humanity...are you aware of what has gotten into your psych??

  • Wow, that's all. Why is this such a big deal? The kid wasn't ruining anything intentionally and his father was obviously making sure he was giving the appropriate commands.

  • I am a pilot, and I will flat out tell you that the reason the pilots don't seem phased is because it's refreshing to lighten the mood every now and then... sometimes ATC can be pricks, and there's even a penalty box in Chicago where they can put you if they're PMSing... safety was not compromised, and the instructions were handed out as standard. Kid was probably more bright than the people looking for anything to be critical of.

  • I'm sure there was an adult right there telling him what to say. Calm down people!

  • I have respect for that guy....he is a REAL father he gave his kids a special memory and was supervised and was doing simple commands.

Personally they should worry more about the boarder wars in Mexico and other much more important things then a father making memories with his kids.

  • its not like a kid just sat in a chair and started talking. he gave clear and direct commands. pretty cool

  • Take Your Kid To Work Day. No BIG Deal. The Pilots Seemed To Enjoy It. Why aren't people THIS concered about the NORAD STAND DOWN on 9/11.?????

  • I Agree With What You Said So Lets Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word So That People Will Think We Know What We're Talking About!!!

  • wow come on thats ridiculous there's far worse things than this. People seriously should knock it off and relax a bit. I thought it was harmless and adorable

  • What you guys don't show is the father handling the complicated ATC. The media is a fucking joke.

  • his commands were short and sweet and cute. I seriouslly doubt the father would have corrected any of the childs mistakes. but then again flying is really stressful for me so I probably would have been butthurt uptite if I was a passenger. So i'm kind of on the fence. Now go make me a chicken pot pie

  • I meant the father would have corrected any of his mistakes. Pot pie NOW!

  • Sensationalism. This fucking press does everything they can to make a mountain out of nothing.

  • i wanna be a air traffic controler =]

  • I am sure he knew his son well enough(better than any of us) to know he wasn't gonna do anything crazy. Although being an ATC he should have known how strict the FAA is and that they probably wouldn't have approved. Give him a slap on the hand and tell him not to do it again. Then let him get on with his life.

  • It's not even like he was giving aircraft vectors. He just gave them take off clearance and instructed them to contact departure. His father was right there with him and could have corrected any mistake he made. jet blue 717 cancel take off clearance hold short. Wow crisis averted.

  • EXACTLY

  • did the dad get fired?

  • suspended

  • o wow. thanks for responding though

  • Is he still suspended, it'd be really unfortunate the 'execs' got their panties in a not over this. I thought it was a cute story... a suspension is reasonable, but firing the dad for giving his kid a good memory that will last the rest of his life? (And it might even offer a few new ideas when he's older on career choices). I'm hoping for the "disney" ending where the dad keeps his job and lives happily ever after and is closer to his kid because from this.

  • not as danger as a kid flying the aircraft as it hapnd once n resultd in air crash.

  • @oysterzzz there is no age limit on flying in the US. They just can't solo until 16 and can't hold a private pilots license until 17.

  • WHAT A BEAST... honestly, not the safest, but it's also cute at the same time

  • KID= AWESOME JOB. it was nice and funny, and even the other pilots took it THAT SAME FUCKING WAY stop it. That kid must be so proud of his father.

  • when i flew on a cessna going over the Grand Canyon the pilot let me say(EX) "cessna 123 request landing" it was fine, People just like ruining Kid's fun, everyone was a kid once, he just cleared for takeoff & contact departure, not like he was directing flight inbound.

  • I agree with crazy paul, Im a commercial pilot and I can garuntee his dad was sitting right there listening in. You guys need to find a different line of work. You can't even report the facts like professionals.

  • HE DID A GREAT JOB

  • @iApple14 The only thing that would have happened would have been his father taking over and correcting the statement.

  • What a stupid sensationalist story. You journalists working there should be ashamed.

It is obviously a managed situation, just part of a "take your kid to work day". The pilots and everyone in the tower are all in on it, and it is just to make the kid feel special.

You act like the kid was actually controlling things haha. Stop trying to invent news, you are supposed to just relay news. Don't waste our time with this nonsense.

  • itnnews you are a fucking joke. With all that is wrong in this world you decide to shit on some cute kid working with his father. This is why the news is for entertainment only. Fuck You.

  • i doubt its even that hard! no big deal!

  • OH COME ON

  • not that hard to do when your airtraffic controller dad is telling you what to say.

  • I don't know, I thought it was kinda' cute.

  • The English guy commentating made it sound like the kid was actually in charge making decisions. A talking Parrot could repeat directions. "The pilots sound unperturbed" Give me a break. Why should they be?

  • he did a really good job at it to say the least. give them a break, the media is so abusive these days

  • ADIOS

  • People keep saying "ooh he couldve said the wrong thing and two planes couldve colided!" shut the hell up you really think that would happen? the father was def there supervising him and its not like the pilots were gonna both crash and explode. im sure that the father wouldve corrected him and they all knew that his kid was the one directing them. grow the fuck up people have a little fun now a father is jobless and a kid thinks its all his fault

  • oh wow a kid can read a paper telling him wat to say and suddenly hes plotting a terrorist attack? gj america

  • Guaranteed dad was right there supervising every word.

  • nothing wrong with this hes only repeating what someone else is telling him to say.

  • someone is with the kid big deal

  • wasn't there something about a helicopter crashing into a plane because of the air traffic?

  • Big deal. My 11 year old had flown my plane.

  • the guy was probably with his kid and told him what to say, it was only 2 flights and if anything serious happened he would have taken over

  • This is GREAT !!!

    the next air traffic controller.....

    CONGRATULATIONS KID!! you didt well!!

  • That's a smart kid joke jokes but if you could take child to work an do something like that you would no 1 got harmed so who cares only saying what adult would be

  • age of the kid?

  • journalists making alot out of notning... again :(

  • really? a similar douche did this. A pilot let his 14 year old son fly the plane and the plane crashed. none survived.

so its good that they are making a huge fuss out of it cuz this should not happen, peoples lives depend on this.

  • come on... you cant compare... Anyway I agree a child should not be in that place, but he could get a warning and then we could move on...

  • no... cube their heads..!!!

haha i just kid. yea ur right. warning is good.

  • It is completely legal in the US for a 14 year old to fly a plane. They just can't solo until 16 and can't get a pilots certificate until 17. Teaching your child to fly is no different then teaching them to drive.

  • yea i know that its legal for a kid to fly a plane but at what cost? the cost of the lives of 300 passengers? would you like to be in a plane with your family which is being flown by a 14year old?

and the plane crashed right? so its not ok for a 14 year old be flying a 777 full of people.

  • Well if your talking flying as a commercial pilot then it isn't legal for a 14 year old to fly an airliner. To get all of the ratings you would first have to have a private license. Yeah I agree with that. I wouldn't want a 14 year old flying me around in an airliner. Not that they couldn't be capable, just that I don't trust kids that much, lol.

  • the kids werent on the plane...they were in the control tower....

  • Read my post carefully....

  • future generation of air traffic controllers. kids a natural

  • What's the big deal?

  • If it was a random man that was on the phone because he wanted a go and the people in charge let him then i would see the problem.

To me this looks like cool parenting. Father and son doing what they should be doing, spending time with each other. I wouldn't condone such acts but you can let it slip.

  • I'm an air traffic controller, and although at times it can be stressfull, most of the time it isn't that bad. So there really isn't anything wrong with this. If the kid messed up the father would have just corrected him. It's not like the planes were head on and was having the kid talk.

  • @aquadiver123 exactly. and one of the captians even commented on how well he did it.. so how is this bad... tbh i wish my dad had let me do this..now i am trainnig to become a first officer XD i would love this to happen to one of my flights

  • great point well made

there was no danger to anyone and the guy was right there

  • Come on, this is not the end of the world. At least we know now that there is a good father somewhere who is even bringing his kid to his work place and having fun with him.

I am sure he was right next to him while he was speaking with pilots, so where is the dramatic new????

  • Mabey the pilots should let their kids fly the planes.

  • um thats awesome i dont see a problem with it

  • 'hey kid go back to school where you learn 2 times SHIT'

at least he's having fun and intrest in the job....

  • news is reporting, not opinion. ITN is not news.

  • These reporters really need to get back to reality. so what if the kid was doing it with supervision. I wish more parents would take their kids to work. That probably will be a memory the kid will cherish forever.

  • Such a smart kid!

  • I'm sure the child's parent was right next to him/her explaining what to say. What an awesome parent.

  • not a story, try again
