Thanks for the suggestion. I had the same problem using the mouse so I concluded it must be a problem with Powerpoint. It was the Microsoft Office 2010 version. I uninstalled it and then installed Microsoft Office 2007. It works fine now!
Thanks for your video. I just purchased a Dell Latitude XT2 tablet pc and want to do exactly what you are illustrating. However, the pen function is cancelled (reverts to pointer mode) every time I advance to the next slide, meaning I have to re-select the pen option from the menu every time I start a new slide. In your video, the pen function appeared to remain from one slide to the next. Is there a setting in Powerpoint that you chose to permit this to happen?
@jlivernois Wow - I've never seen it behave the way you describe! Have you tried it on a desktop PC? (You don't need a tablet - it's just that the pen is easier than the mouse). Or perhaps it's something strange about the Dell pen software? Does it behave the same when you use your mouse to annotate? Mysterious! Please post a reply and let me know what you discover!
FYI, I'm using an HP 2710p Tablet PC now, with Office 2007...
I made this video with an HP "convertable laptop" that has a swivel screen, letting you use it as a laptop (keyboard mode) or tablet pc (slate mode). It turns out that for marking up PPT, you actually don't need a tablet pc - but a pen does make it easier!
do you need a specific version of powerpoint to do this? if not how do you activate this feature? (highlighting, writing on the slide, etc) Thank you:P
No, this is not a special version of PowerPoint! Writing on your slides has been a feature of PP for some time. The feature is available as soon as you go into "SHOW" mode. It doesn't work while you are in "EDIT" mode... Jim
