Before someone asks for the high notes, here's how they work with a capo on the second with those bass notes I mentioned: all 5th and 6th string, E 12th frt and B 9th, E10 + B9, E9 + B8, E8 + B4 (stretch!), E7 + B5, E6 + B4 then E4 + B5 with the open D bass note to finish. How to tie that in with the bass notes will require a little work but it sounds pretty good when you accentuate some notes and ghost the others.

Further to my post on bass notes, (capo on the 2nd but all fret positions stated as if there's no capo): open D string twice, D string 9th fret once, repeat etc. Then same with open D and G string 4th frt (same notes but lower down the neck),then same with A string 4th frt and D string 4th frt. Open d to finish. Same picking pattern all the way through - two low then one higher note. Play along to check, it works!

My only criticism is that the bass notes in the intro aren't uniform (it's two notes the same then one higher), I've seen all the tabs and they're wrong. You have to listen to the intro and isolate the bass notes, I play it with a capo on the second and it's not difficult to achieve. I don't play it as well as you I hasten to add!

Definitely. Memory Lane is one of very few songs that I actually have difficulty singing because the pitch thins out my voice alot. I just felt it'd be copped out if I just did guitar.
