  • man I absolutely love skymasters, and this one certainly seems like it can go x3 That is one crazy RoC! I'm curious though, do you know how much higher the maintenance costs/fuel flows are much higher on the TSIO-550's as opposed to the standard IO-360's? thanks for any info

  • Both engines are used for take off

  • @roughsurface That is correct, but you lead on the rear engine first and then bring in the frnt engine.

  • You takeoff using power only from the rear engine?

  • @HDaviator NO, you use the rear engine to start the roll, and then you bring in the power from the front engine.

I know that. My father owned a Skymaster. If you see the video, you can see that they didn't add power to the front engine on the takeoff run, or if they did, it had less than the rear engine. I always took off with full power on both engines. It seems this aircraft has so much power with the IO550s that it can takeoff on one engine. I was just pointing that out.

  • the military version is far more impressive than the civilian versions

  • I got to fly one while taking flying lessons at the age of 13 in '77 and will never forget it.

Cool, but not like this Skymaster!

  • @roughsurface. It was nothing like this one. Just a regular one. But cool for sure.

  • the best airplane ever!!!! +5
