  • NATION, it looks like we have 2 potential saviors of America now ;)

  • There's a hint of a southern accent there. He suppressed it as a little kid.

  • "I love you Stephen!"

    "I love you more!"

  • What the HECK did the chancellor meant with "Political Satire "????....

Stephen TELLS IT LIKE IT IS,,, I BELIEVE EVERYTHING HE SAYS 100%,, STEPHEN COLBERT IS THE GENUINE ARTICLE NO IMITATION...

  • y does that guy keep heckling?

  • He is saying "South Carolina's the WORD"

  • What is the guy saying at 1:43?

  • Colbert for prez in 2012!!!

  • INMAN, SC

    WOOP WOOP

  • DUDE! I was there when he gave this speech! Right behind him. You could'a seen me- if he, the podium, and the other dude weren't in the way!!! XDDDDDDDD

  • Comment removed

  • I voted for Stephen Colbert for prez.

  • They should've let him run

And NASA should name the space station after him--its only fair

  • not really

  • Colbert kicks SO MUCH ASS :D

  • you know that is just a character he portrays right? just like Kevin Spacey really doesn't go around murdering people like in 7

  • its funny you say that

who is stephen colbert? the guy who stays in character all the time and works 6 days a week or that other guy

i think stephen enjoys being this tool and there is a point where a character like this grows on you

  • he was on a talk show and he said that the colbert report character he portrays is cathartic for him. It is that whole humor at serious issues, because if not we would just be depressed everyday if we took it seriously

  • @Mr2tonearmy , doesn't he?

  • It's amazing to watch him talking like a politician.

  • He'd be the most well spoken, most educated, politician ever. I hope he runs for president at the next election and I hope his candidacy is taken seriously.

  • Who can hear Colbert's southern accent? I can.

  • He sounds like a preacher.

  • Preachin South Carolina peaches.

  • "So if something goes horribly wrong, they will be the first to mutate!"

"I leave you with the state motto..."

    "What's that?"

    "I can't top that!"

  • Colbert won't become prez until he becomes a governor or something :P That would be awesome if he won though!

  • I wonder what it would be like if he became the next prez :p

  • COLBERT 2012

  • this is a riot!!!

  • Steve Colbert is dripping hotness.

  • oddly enough I have to agree!

  • I want some shrimp now.

  • This is so awesome

  • COME ON.....i hope colbert runs for the next campaign...and WIN...if he doesnt win...FUCK YOU AMERICANS

  • Go Cocks!

  • Amen to that!

  • colbert nation all the way home! he is america and so can all of us! (That doesn't even make sense, but you catch the drift.)

  • If he gets elected president, it will mean the end of the world. Remember what Nostradamus predicted. "And a manath nameth Berticus will claim the will of the innocent, to create a new order. The endth will cometh on the first moon of that new day.

  • LOL.

  • what the fuck are you talking about lol

  • lol HELL YES

  • finnally a believer....

  • As a southern giants fan , no south carolina is not full of idiots....no american state is except for your personal 1.

  • its kida just a joke.

jeeze, they got alot of nuts on youtube :P

  • Does anyone else find it strange that when he mentioned South Carolina as the first state to secede, he gets enthusiastic cheers? That act of secession led to the civil war and thousands of deaths, so that the institution of slavery might continue. Can you imagine what the world would be like if the Confederacy had won that war, and slavery was still practiced legally today, in 2008? If I lived in S.C., I would be ashamed of that part of my state's history, and it disturbs me that they aren't.

  • Their pride is that of independence, that they could make it on their own. Also, why would those people be ashamed when none of them were alive during the civil war. Its like trying to collect reparations from current white americans. Nobody alive today is responsible for slavery. Nobody alive is responsible for the civil war. Though we can still take pride in the same ideals that were fought for. And no im no from SC.

  • Either way slavery would have been abolished; just look at England.

    and jefe31459,

"Its like trying to collect reparations from current white americans."

There is, its called affirmative action. :(

  • True, but that injustice will fall just as slavery did. Its a shame its taking so long though.

  • As the other guy says.. yes the whole thing was just a bit of a joke.

And I am from SC and from my point of view they arent cheering for slavery and death.. its a bit of pride in saying "we dont like being pushed around and being told what to do"

    ya know?

  • No, I didn't find it strange. And I don't imagine the world if the Confederacy had won, because it was never met to be. And I'm speaking from a family with a long legacy in the South.

  • I love the dude who's like "so stephen, what's the word?" hehe...

  • the funny thing about this is most people don't realize hes making fun of how republicans act on his show.

  • the people who are booing him must be rednecks.

  • There are no rednecks in SC.

    [snicker]

  • well then they must be humorless for sure because this guy is the man!.

  • well now, he's only the youngest of 9, but yea before i guess, and in a way still is, the youngest of 11.

  • Love that he is from South Carolina!! So am I!! Oh, but I am a Clemson fan...lol...but I can forgive that one!! Colbert rocks!!

  • Ha!! I'm at USC and I got to attend this ceremony so *raspberry!!*. In your face Clemson!!

  • Lucky, lucky.

  • Can any one tell me were to find text for this video ? Need to print it out

  • love colbert, didn't know he was from sc-funny cause i've always wanted to visit there(peahes and shrimp haha). so this makes me a bigger fan of him.

  • um..ok..i thought it was either love or hate..

  • Sorry... that was just a sociology experiment to see how people would respond.

  • If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

  • Precisely!

  • I love Stephen Colbert!!!

  • Stephen Colbert for VP!!

...I was so sad when I got the news...

  • Is there something wrong with you?

  • am i not allowed of an opinion?

  • I love Colbert!

  • If I were registered democrat I would vote Colbert, but I just switched from independent to republican just for Ron Paul. Bring back the troops now! Stephen Colbert for Vice Prez!

Seriously though he said in the Larry King interview that he would consider governor in South Carolina before seriously attempting the White House, or something like that. That would be awesome.

  • Kucinich gets my vote...

  • man i would come out for the first time and vote for him

  • There's nothing intelligent about your intelligence.

  • what?

  • The fact that Colbert got this far, even though he wasn't accepted for whatever insane reason, is a victory in my opinion.

Too bad though, he sure would have gotten my vote for President!

  • Colbert and Stewart would make a nice ticket. They have opinions and seem curious enough.

  • To bad he was DENIED placement on the democratic ballot. fuck!

  • Oh, crap, I misspelled graduate and midwestern. Obviously a fellow NU grad!

  • keep your opinions and peaches to yourself in your home-state of georgia.

  • what did that girl yell at the very end ?

  • She said "KAW KAW" ... that's waht we do as our sound for the COCKS!

  • thanks

  • COLBERT 08!

  • I'd vote for him if I could

  • He'd be better than Hillary or Giuliani

..but who ever wins the presidency will probably inherit the biggest catastrophe anyone has seen in our lifetime (that was sowed under cheney)

  • So sad but so true. I agree though, Colbert would be a truly great President. The man actually knows what he's talking about - and isn't afraid to say it; and thus, I expect he'd actually be willing to do something about all the problems we're facing.

The only one actually running close to that imho, is Kucinich; and I doubt he has a chance.

  • Kucinich would be great

  • Kucinich could pull out the dolution from his endless pockets!

  • If he were to actually run for President he would win easily. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
