Who wants to talk about Coldplay (and i like them too), simply don't write here, please...the title is "Moment of surrender", not "Viva la vida"! So let's appreciate this marvelous music and talk about the great band who made it!!!
I think the comparisons are fair. Chris Martin would suck Bono's dick if he could. He's wanted to be U2 since he was a little kid. When his first baby was born he played "Sort of Homecomming" from the Unforgettable Fire. Coldplay fucking idolizes U2. If it weren't for U2 there would be no Coldplay. So basically every fucking song from Coldplay that you like that comes out... you should fucking thank U2 for it.
Stop with the Coldplay comparisons...U2 have been around for 30 years for a reason..if in the year 2028 Coldplay can produce an album like No Line, then we can compare.....as far as I know they have yet produced a Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby album
Everyones intitled to have an opinion. But these morons that compare coldplay to U2 just leave me scratching my head. Seems coldplay fans (and many music fans these days) don't know the world didn't start in 2000. Coldplay is a fly on one of U2's shits. They are simply incapable of this kind of talent.

I don't mind the backing tracks of Bono obviously, or Edge's singing at all. I have a problem with Eno and Lanois (?) singing chorus....it drowns out Bonos voice, the cracking etc. and Edge's too....it ruins it almost for me.
Edge's voice is completely amazing. Listen to him sing Van Diem's land on Rattle and Hum and most of the super high falsetto parts in all their songs and you'll find the Edge. He's incredible and considered by some to have an even better voice then Bono (at least technically, not emotionally or with the full color of Bono's untrained yet magical chords). The Edge is a true genius and can do it all!
I've never heard Bono make that sound when he sings "I tied myself with wires" it's just incredible, and it's evidence that they're still innovative and fresh.
I like this song, but the lyrics 'I was punching in the numbers at the ATM machine' annoys me, since ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine. So its as if he's saying '...numbers at the automated teller machine machine.' I know it's podantic, but it shits me up the wall when I hear it! Great song and greatest band nontheless...
I have punched the numbers at the ATM machine, to buy that semi-precious stone..i have to say I also have seen that reflection off the little mirror by the ATM...you see a different person filled with guilt, not in control, but you continue...it can be somewhat "podantic" (by the way great word). However for someone who can relate to that moment...its relevant...then again if we have to come down to breaking down one line, it says a lot about the greatness of U2...I agree it is a great song.

U2 music present the real time emotions in world, thay touching our time of living, 1990 the world wose in his best year's, love, peace and thay make Achtung Baby, music in No Line On The Horizon include emotions of those year's.That why thay are the best. This is really bad- don't even compare this to Coldplay. This is REALLY bad. I can't remember Coldplay making a song as bad as this. Seriously- this is a joke-don't defend this.
then that garbage of music videos and millions of views from avril lavigne or jonas brothers tell you they are more succesfull than U2 or even The Beatles... ohhh come on, do me a favour go kill yourself...
some people don't half talk bollocks :). People don't realise who's better is just who you prefer not 'who's better' as such..If you get that you'll see it don't matter
P.S. - I won't dignify the jonas brothers comment with a response.... lol... please tell me this is some sick tastless joke... lol.... APRIL FOOLS!!!! LOL... Their music sucks, they suck live, and the only people who listen to them are horney little puberty entering girls... lol... I think southpark honestly summed up who they are perfectly.. lol.. when their fans age, they will be in some alley with hanna montana high as hell and beggin for change the next day.. lol.. that was harsh, sorry lol
cedars of lebanon, stand up comedy, no line on the horizon... and thats already 8 tracks i feel are really good out of 11.. .. the other three tracks are also good.... can you honestly say that almost all the tracks on viva la vida are great because I feel that all the songs on no line on the horizon are really good... another good collectin of songs by U2... boots was a solid single and is probably the weakest song on the album and thats saying a lot... lol.... anyway, sorry for all the typos
U2 is up there for me. Totally talented. Some of their stuff, new and old, I CANNOT stand. But then there are songs that are complete gems. I like this one.
Coldplay's sound revolves around Piano.. their music just isn't as hard as u2.. I do like coldplay but they are no U2.. they will not last 30 years like U2 has.. U2 has been versatile and have adapted to the changing times.. let's see if coldplay can do the same. anyway, going back to voices. Chris martin is a falsetto mostly (The Edge has more singing range than him..lol). No line on the horizon is better than viva la vida (U2 beats them again). very diverse album and has its hard tracks
I think to U2 is a little bit better than colplay, but what you say (Emassare1), That no Line on the Horizon better is than Viva la Vida, i think thats not true, at No line on the Horizon are verry good songs, like at the moment of surrender, magnificent ... But at No Line on the Horizon are also songs who can't tip at the normal U2 level, i'm nog saying Viva la Vida is better, its like the same level of quality i think!
thank you vertigo190 and makarmusic :) anyway, maarteuh everyone is entitled to their own opinion... if u think viva la vida is on the same level... i'll take that... but yeh U2 on't out-do something like joshua tree or achtung abby and neither will coldplay... but i still feel that no line is better than viva la vida :) I just think it has a lot of amazing tracks... maybe you should giove it another listen :) my favorites are breathe, surrender, magnificent, white as snow, crazy tonight,
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!! YOU COLDPLAY FANS NEED TO STOP...Coldplay was influenced by U2 therefore they copy U2..... LOL.... Coldplay cannot do a soulful song like this and chris martin does not have the singing range and soulful voice that Bono has. Furthermore, I hate it when people compare U2 and coldpay to the TEE..... U2 is way more rock than coldplay (majority of sound is based on or revolves around Guitar riffs). BTW, the Edge is a fucking genius...
Well said. I mean Coldplay would never say they were better than U2. They don't have one song that rates next to the best of U2. Pride in the name of Love, One, With or Without You, Streets have no name, I will follow, bad, Running to stand still, New years day...I could go on and on but just one of these songs obliterates Coldplay's entire boring catalog. Snore! U2 then Radiohead, then Coldplay and I'm being nice to include these bands with U2 at all. Joshua Tree crushes them both!
Forget the Coldplay copying U2 debate people! Coldplay are a good band in their own right and Chris Martin loves U2 so will obviously be inspired by them a wee bit. As for No Line, it's the album of the millenium thus far. Breathe is the best song on the album and has got to be a single!
U2 is not the same as it used to be. disappointment reigns over this new album at least for me. I agree that these new songs sound a little bit more like coldplay. U2 used to be more fast-paced than this...now it makes me sleep.
not going to the concert in chicago to listen to these songs...
who gives a shit whether you are going to the concert or not...both shows at Soilder Field ar/will be sold out ...so nobody in Chicago gives a shit what you think
anyway i ve heard life in technicolor and lovers in japan i there isnt even a similarity. Dude viva la vida is really a copy from that song of Satriani you can hear the same tune with viva. But comparing this great song with lovers or life in technishit PLEASE!
the rythm, the melody, Bono's voice, the emotions, feelings, simplicity, lyrics... it's magic - impressive piece of art! thank you U2 for giving us such gifts to our lives...
according to an interview, this song was almost entirely made by a jamming session in one shot, where eno, lanois and u2 started off jamming not really knowing what they were doing but it turned into something incredible. eno said himself he had never experienced something like that and that it was like a "miracle". so, this song is definately not a copy :P. before you say something like that, it would be wise to base that statement on a more credible source than yopur own ears. lol
I think what makes this album good or great, is not the beats or melodies but the voices. Bono The Edge and maybe Eno and Lanois if they contributed(which I think they did for this song) all their vocals are just astonishing.
You're an idoit!! Coldplay is a copy of u2's whole catalog!! Chris Martin wants to be Bono so bad, that he probably would get his legs amputated to be the same height!!lol
NO - this wont be a single - mainly coz it is too long even for a radio-edit - also the band feel it would not appeal to the general public (ONLY FANS) will understand its structure)! It just wouldnt work as a single!
After "Magnificent", if there are to be any more singles - I reckon "Breathe" & "I think ill go crazy if I dont go crazy tonite" will be the favorites - I personally would LOVE to see "Fez - being born" as a single - its MAGICAL!
Indeed, one of their very best and that is saying something as they have produced a lot of good music since I first listened to War at school all those years ago.
Excelente som! Bono está de volta com o agudo de sua voz, incomparável e imbatível! Edge solando como nos velhos tempos, Adam e Larry finalizando, completando a harmonia da mais bela música do álbum!
Bono signs with so much emotion... the best ive seen. I can tell a lot of effort was put into the making in this song, and it was brought to life by bono and u2.
The ONLY GREAT song on the new album. Fez Being Born is also good but other than these 2 songs the abum SUCKS BIG TIME

then that garbage of music videos and millions of views from avril lavigne or jonas brothers tell you they are more succesfull than U2 or even The Beatles... ohhh come on, do me a favour go kill yourself...

some people don't half talk bollocks :). People don't realise who's better is just who you prefer not 'who's better' as such..If you get that you'll see it don't matter
Jakker27 2 years ago

Emassacre1 2 years ago
Just because the Jonas Brothers have millions of views on their videos on YouTube doesn't make them good.

U2 is up there for me. Totally talented. Some of their stuff, new and old, I CANNOT stand. But then there are songs that are complete gems. I like this one.

the reason why people think U2 now sound like Coldplay is because Coldplay's recent album was produced by Brian Eno who worked with U2 for years!!!
lauribird 2 years ago
I would never compare U2 to anybody, they are in a league of their own!!
lauribird 2 years ago 9
u2 should be compared with radiohead...not coldplay. u2 and radiohead are a level above coldplay.
kev22990 2 years ago 6
Coldplay's sound revolves around Piano.. their music just isn't as hard as u2.. I do like coldplay but they are no U2.. they will not last 30 years like U2 has.. U2 has been versatile and have adapted to the changing times.. let's see if coldplay can do the same. anyway, going back to voices. Chris martin is a falsetto mostly (The Edge has more singing range than him..lol). No line on the horizon is better than viva la vida (U2 beats them again). very diverse album and has its hard tracks
Emassacre1 2 years ago 4
I think to U2 is a little bit better than colplay, but what you say (Emassare1), That no Line on the Horizon better is than Viva la Vida, i think thats not true, at No line on the Horizon are verry good songs, like at the moment of surrender, magnificent ... But at No Line on the Horizon are also songs who can't tip at the normal U2 level, i'm nog saying Viva la Vida is better, its like the same level of quality i think!
Maarteuh96 2 years ago
I'm sorry, i'm NOT saying, i typed it wrong! :)
Maarteuh96 2 years ago
thank you vertigo190 and makarmusic :) anyway, maarteuh everyone is entitled to their own opinion... if u think viva la vida is on the same level... i'll take that... but yeh U2 on't out-do something like joshua tree or achtung abby and neither will coldplay... but i still feel that no line is better than viva la vida :) I just think it has a lot of amazing tracks... maybe you should giove it another listen :) my favorites are breathe, surrender, magnificent, white as snow, crazy tonight,
Emassacre1 2 years ago
thats true Edge has more singing range than Martin... LOL and he also is a guitar genius, hero, master etc etc he can own coldplay by himself.
Vertigo190 2 years ago 4
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!! YOU COLDPLAY FANS NEED TO STOP...Coldplay was influenced by U2 therefore they copy U2..... LOL.... Coldplay cannot do a soulful song like this and chris martin does not have the singing range and soulful voice that Bono has. Furthermore, I hate it when people compare U2 and coldpay to the TEE..... U2 is way more rock than coldplay (majority of sound is based on or revolves around Guitar riffs). BTW, the Edge is a fucking genius...
Emassacre1 2 years ago 3
Joshua Tree crushes them both!
makarmusic 2 years ago 4
Forget the Coldplay copying U2 debate people! Coldplay are a good band in their own right and Chris Martin loves U2 so will obviously be inspired by them a wee bit. As for No Line, it's the album of the millenium thus far. Breathe is the best song on the album and has got to be a single!
Gurjitsd07 2 years ago 3

Vertigo190 2 years ago
you moron coldplay is a copy of U2 so dont waste your time saying that U2 copy songs from that shit.
Vertigo190 2 years ago 3
the rythm, the melody, Bono's voice, the emotions, feelings, simplicity, lyrics... it's magic - impressive piece of art! thank you U2 for giving us such gifts to our lives...

Absolutely the best song on the album - it is so full of soul, Bono's voice is so full and from the heart...

according to an interview, this song was almost entirely made by a jamming session in one shot, where eno, lanois and u2 started off jamming not really knowing what they were doing but it turned into something incredible. eno said himself he had never experienced something like that and that it was like a "miracle". so, this song is definately not a copy :P. before you say something like that, it would be wise to base that statement on a more credible source than yopur own ears. lol

Brian Eno produced both No Line and Viva records, so there's your degree of separation. Read your liner notes people!

a copy from which song?
Vink852 2 years ago
Probably crazy tonight and breathe
Vink852 2 years ago
I think what makes this album good or great, is not the beats or melodies but the voices. Bono The Edge and maybe Eno and Lanois if they contributed(which I think they did for this song) all their vocals are just astonishing.

You're an idoit!! Coldplay is a copy of u2's whole catalog!! Chris Martin wants to be Bono so bad, that he probably would get his legs amputated to be the same height!!lol
tnn1 2 years ago 10
