This is wrong! Alsalf=Predecessors (The Prophet saw, his companions , their followers and their students. Salafe=someone who follow the salaf. The (E) is used to indicate the act of the following. For example someone follow Ford, so we call him Ford(e). The naming is fine, but the problem is when we start making this into a group which is HARAM: And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment. Quran 3:105

@ABOUSTEVE1 Just a few things you mentioned. 1) Those who call themselves salafis don't have much of a history. 2) Nothing wrong with following the madhab of the salafi salah because it is the belief that everything in islam must be understood through the interpretation of the righteous scholars that came before (i.e. Companions of the Prophet (pbuh) and so on). 3) "Islam is broad and can accept alot (of groups) This is a vague statement. Wahabbi is a new word the Americans use to describe Sunnis in saudi Arabia, because they seek to make everyone confused. they want ppl to hate Saudis and think they are a strange kind of muslim. Of course, the sunnis in Saudi Arabia are the same, as in other countries, basically. they might follow a different school of thought, just like Libya follows Maaliki, or whatever, and other countries follow Hanbali, I thnk, Bosnia does, and so on. All are Sunni Muslims. Wahabbi is a misnomer.

calling one a wahabi has nothing to do with allahs name.

When someone calls a person a wahabi it is in regards to his doctrine/aqidah or school of thought/law not the name of allah.

Just like malikis, al-malik is a name of allah but when you call someone maliki youre referring to his school of thought/law.

U dont need to call urself a salafi but a moslim, but if someon's asks u what u follow , u say the qoran and the sunnah of the prophet that was given to the selefi the three generations that were with the Prophet. So not hadieths that are from other groups like Shia or etc.. but the Sunna that the Prophet gave to this 3 compagnions, Omar , Abou bakr , Othman
