It might not be on par with the 2 games you mentioned, but its still pretty awesome for its time. Search for alien soldier TAS (Tool assisted speed run) on youtube. Its like seeing fox/falco from starfox on steroids

I can't believe that I've never thought of fighting the Death Ball (first boss of Death Egg Zone's 2nd act) using that strategy! I have always fought it by going into the gravity-altering machine after the spiked cars are released and then spin dashing into the ones that got stuck against the ceiling to send them flying into the boss. Thanks for teaching me something!

After I got Sonic 1 with my Genesis I bought every Sonic game on release day until I got Sonic Adventure. Played it, beat it, haven't bought a Sonic game since. Still trying to match this run since Sega was nice enough to put all of the original (read: good) Sonic games on a single PS2 disc :)

OMG this game is amazing, even after all these years.

Great plot, great characters, awesome stages, great music (Lava Reef, Hidden Palace, Final Boss, etc), great power-ups, beautiful visuals even to this day, tight controls, and Simplicity at it's finest. This is why I started playing Video games. A MasterPiece in everyway.

That is the EggRobo that attacks Knuckles at the beginning of Sonic & Knuckles. Kunckles' game takes place after Sonic and Tails' game, so he is the main villian because Robotnik has been defeated. This explains why the Death Egg is not in Knuckles game. And the Metal Sonic in the Sky Sancturary, he was still in one piece because he's Knuckles' final boss in that level.

Well, in theory, what you say is true. The final boss you face in the Second Act of the Second Zone in Sonic and Knuckles is Dr. Robotnik. That's him in the contraption that swings up and down and shoots a flame. That's Robotnik. Maybe that's a screw up on their part.

when you defeat eggman and robotnik appears with the green emerald thing you should jump on top of him and then press right to out you back onto the platform

that technique with the boss before eggman is amazing tho havent seen that before and i think its great :D

he started a saved game with all 7 chaos emeralds and one super emerald, if you have at least one super emerald (you have to have the 7 chaos to get them) you wont be able to transform into super sonic, as it waits for you to get all the 7 super emeralds, and become hyper sonic.

To those who are wondering about the player getting Super Sonic without "collecting the emeralds", re-watch the beginning of part 1. You'll see the player starts at zone 1from a save game in which he already had the emeralds.
