I just finished Irving Thalberg's biography. I knew little about him until recently. I was struck by the deep devotion he and Norma had to one another. A truly unique couple not only by Hollywood standards but by anyone's standards. I literally cried watching this photo montage and listening to the beautiful song that went with it.

I just finished reading Mark Vieira's new biography of Irving, released last fall, and the first book to use Norma's own recollection, culled from a never-published book of her own that she was readying in the 1950s. I highly recommend it, even if you're read Gavin Lambert's 1990 biography on Norma. Vieira expands on the look at their marriage and home life and the two compliment one another excellently.
