they've been apart for how long? and this still shits on any indie thats been released in the last five years. for the people who cry out for more coxon, this is a brilliant tease, i bet you've played it back 50+ times.
They're the best, as always. . . Oh, how much I love them. . . My greatest dream is to have the possibility to see a gig. . . I wonder if it will ever be possible :(
Good song.........but hope they make a new record next time that sounds more original than their recent albums..........can bunch of 40 year olds still be cool?? Well U2 were cool 10 years ago, why not.
@itsherenownow U2 were cool 14 years ago when they released Pop. Blur's last three albums were very original, I think - and Blur were much cooler than when they started out. I hope there will be a new record some time. This song is fine but it could use a bit more of Coxon's guitar at the end.
Thank you blur, you bring hope to my life, supreme british rock music is not over yet, nothing but best wishes for all of you listening to this piece of modern art!
@Taq7 it doesn't matter if Mika is gay, the music is very similar. i could tell you that Damon is blonde and Mika's hair not, i don't know why you tell me about gays, are we talking about music or not?.
this is just my opinion, I didn't enjoy it... Love Blur, Gorillaz, specially TGTBATQ, this seems... dunno, repetitive? I don't enjoy the melody, I simply didn't enjoyed it...
Graham is the greatest guitarist to ever exist and Damon is a fantastic compositional writer. Alex James is also a great bassist. He reminds me a lot of Matt Sharp.
okay this is reminding me of the good the bad the queen, cos damon voice is all different and so i guess being a massive blur fan, its something im never really going to be completely used to. this songs allllright. but. it seems kinda dead and rushed.
I can't wait for a new album. Ive been listening to blur since I was 14. Got all the albums. This band is much better then Oasis, a big hit around the world, but not so much in the U.S. Unfortunatly western culture leans too far toward rap and hip hop, meaning every suburban white boy will have at least a Gorillaz album. Nothing wrong with that per say, however there is no variety like this band on MTV. If they even show "Music Television" anymore............also glad Coxon is back.
@Broomehall Yes but that is because Oasis have'nt done anything relevant for years!!! Apart from their drunken fans who midlessly follow their every release of an album that always turns out to be dissapointing.
They release good singles but their albums........??????????? no chance!!!!
@overandoutgovt At their peak Oasis were a force to be reckoned with, i dont think anyone would deny that, however Blur seem to have eclipsed them as far as creativity and longevity are concerned, hate to say it but rarely listen to Oasis now but delight in Blur and Damon's Gorilaz and after seeing "No distance left to run" i changed my mind completely about them, mature accomplised artists without the swaggering bravado of Liam that frankly is just boring now, bit like the records...........
@Broomehall Yes well Oasis have not released anything good for a long time, they release one single and then the rest of the album is absolute dirge, and I thought Be Here Now was okay, just overhyped and its not like they could'nt of gone on to do more later - but they were right in saying they should of gone away after Knebworth in hindsight... and I thought they would come back better than ever after Heathen Chemistry
@IWontGetOvertheDam Blur are the quintessential British pop band. Only the genius of a Damon Albarn could pull off a reference to a now defunct and, let's be honest, crap high street store and still sound cool.
'the masterplan' is better than most Blur albums, a flawless record.
Be here now has recently gained more recognition as a good album (like the second coming for the stone roses), The only album I think is without merit is Heathen Chemistry. Critics have been sticking the boot in because they got buuthurt after giving Be Here Now perfect reviews across the board, when it was merely good, and a step down from the classics that preceded it.
It's meaningless to compare them, which are of completely different style. What's more, the critics is not always so right. You've also seen them changed minds over time. If you believe in that so much, there are so much albums that get even higher receptions. But does that really mean they are the best? Music is not that objective and easy to judge.
exactly there is no such thing as a bad or good album, it all about whether you like it or not. For instance I can't stand much pre 1997 Blur which is more critically acclaimed, I prefer the self titled lp, 13 and think tank.
At first I thought wtf no it doesn't but directly after listening to this song I was thinking of the song "I just died in your arms tonight". You're right
@THEkvartz Damon said that they have more songs, it's far from farewell mate. Damon's busy with gorillaz and a new opera at the moment. New blur album next year.
@DannyJiggles We're doing a project at my college at the moment about coatbridge. I am going to make a slideshow/video about coatbridge and use this song for it. The pictures are going to fit the lyrics.
Good god I've listened to this about 15 times now. It's so freakin' good. The bass, the guitar, drums and, of course, lyrics and vocals. I'm glad they got together to make this single and hope that this is a taste of things to come!
I heard on MTV that Gorillaz have sold more CDs with their first two albums than everything Blur released put together. Could that be true? Blur sold a lot back in the day......
@Agent00Soul The first Gorillaz album sold 7 million so that's true. It's no surprise Gorillaz sold more, Gorillaz broke the american market. The Great Escape peaked at 2 million if I can remember correctly.
