  • Thank you for not being Vevo

  • Long before Arcade Fire's "The Sprawl", there was "The Sprawl"

  • If Miles Davis and Kim Gordon had a kid, it would have entirely too much cool for one person to contain.

  • that outro ♥

  • Listening to Sonic Youth is the closest experience I've ever had to sex or drugs... or god.

  • @Googoogoomez Ha, me too.

  • kien fue el re aweonao ke le puso votos negativos !!! esos 3 weones ... seguro ke escuchan regeton o alguna otra mierda por el estilo !

estos tipos hacen muy buena musica .....

    Fuck Regeton !

    Yeah Sonic youth

    good !!

  • best live version ever!

  • cmon down to the store

you can buy some more moore more moore

  • I wish I was Thurston Moore, just to have kim gordon surrounding my arms...

  • Three things in Sonic Youth that just won't age:

    1. Their sound

    2. Thurston Moore

    3 Kim Gordon's legs

  • @NIMRODakaNIMROD Saw 'em at Hammersmith on New Year's Eve and she was wearing jeans, damn it!

  • Yes. thats the pavement bass player. He joined them temporarily.

  • @guidedbyghosts pretty sure he joined fairly permanently. at least as permanently as Jim O'Rourke did.

  • 9 minutes gone and you still want some more and more and more

  • RIP cobain

  • it's so cool that they are still around and playing music

  • @moto454 even cooler is that they're still writing and playing great music after being together longer than most bands could even comprehend.

  • I think everybody can find something they like in this video. I did.

  • the largest basement I have ever seen.

  • Shelley is awesome!

  • The is as good as it gets kids.

  • sonic mindscapes transcending the mere "song" into something higher, more elegant, more meaningful. This is not music, this is not a song, this is life experience orchestrated tonally. Only with experiece can one experiment with the ID collective.

  • this outro version is soo good...better than the cd version :(

  • perfect

  • He's so tall and dreamy *sigh*

  • "...I wanted to know the exact dimension of hell

    does this sound simple?

Fuck you! Are you for sale?

Does 'Fuck you' sound simple enough?

This was the only part that turned me on

but he was candy all over..."

  • why are two of them playing bass, dont make much sense to me

  • @TheSicDominator you're being sarcastic aren't you?

  • @TheSicDominator The song called for two bass parts. Just because most rock bands only ever use one bass at a time doesn't mean sonic youth only use one bass ata time.

  • Sonic youth KICK ASS!!!

  • The sprawl refers to the trilogy of novels by William Gibson, and the song is kinda similar to the theme of those novels.

  • Does anyone know what this song was supposed to be about??????

  • it refers to the trilogy only because of the name of the song, The Sprawl was the name of a country sized city in the novels... but the song is actually a number of things she just overheard on the streets of NYC when crack was a big problem in the city in the 80's

  • sigur ros use bows... i used to get drunk last summer and watch this dvd- great fookin memories!

  • Only Sonic Youth could use a bow on a guitar and not look stupid. =)

  • I know. Thurston and Lee could fart against their pickups and make a song channelling the spirit of John Cage.

  • @CristoffandFriends The Smashing Pumpkins made it work. That said this is amazing SY forever.

  • @halifuckinfan :)!!!

  • *cough*Jimmy Page*cough*

  • No me lo puedo creer!!! sin palabras.

  • 9:06 minutes of heaven

  • @dclassic33

what about the other second lol?

  • oooo myyy fuckkkiinnggg gooddddd. that was fucking amazing. one of my favorites by them. sy are like whine! rediculous they can jam like this and theyre 50.

  • amazing. <3 Steve Shelley

  • Truth.

  • gotta love mark ibold complete dude

  • Steve Shelley is the best drummer. This song rocks.

  • Ha there's Ibold!

  • i just love this song (L)

  • fantastic, i freaking love you kim gordon

  • this my favorite Youth song....the album version / but that is the hardest decision I ever had to make.

  • mine too

  • Sublime

  • i wish jim o'rourke had stayed, he brought something fresh to the band, murray street and sonic nurse are one of their best, markl ibold i don't knw he's ok but not stellar

  • nah that ibold guy always had good chops. jim o'rourke has bad juju..

  • Love them

  • aw, pity that it sounds not as loud as it should

  • sweet riffs!

  • it's the pavement bassist

  • nah its jim o'rourke. false alarm...

  • Oh no, it's definitely Ibold, and he's great. O'rourke doesn't look like taht at all (except for the hair maybe)

  • fuck me it is ,, i bet he though he was fucked when pavement broke up. thats a second coming like nothing else man..

  • yes! i saw i too!

  • Kim's voice still sounds just as great as the record from 20 years ago! Same for Lee when they did Hey Joni. can't wait to get more cds from this band.

  • 2 bassplayers?

  • you should listen to Colectro

  • I saw them 2 days ago, in Santiago de Chile. It was an amazing display of power, noise and energy.

They played several songs from their first 5 records, which was a gift for all those who didn't have the chance to see them during the 80's or 90's.

    They really rock, really.

  • Wow, they played EVOL songs? That's so awesome.

  • tocaron canciones nuevas?

  • I am in love with this band

Why does everyone hate them (besides the fact that Juno thinks they're "noise")

  • people that hate them are not worth thinking in my opinion.

  • not "everyone" hates them at all. a bunch of fucking Snow Patrol fans maybe yeah but who need em...

  • well, you are right man..those idiots called themselvs alternative teenage, listen papa roach and paramore..fuckin morons don know whats real pasion/music/art is...its bad times for "old school";)

    regards!

  • Snow Patrol does.

  • @DavySolaris fuck snow patrol and fuck their brain dead fans

  • They are the epitome of cool.

  • what is the amplifier that sonic youth is using? thanks

  • i love this fucking song!!! daydream nation is one of the best albums of the 90's and of course sonic youth too. can you upload candle if they play it in this ??

  • Daydream Nation actually came out in 1988

  • actually you're a big cat

  • aren't we all?

  • it just shows how far ahed of it's time it was. and still is!

  • Cool video, I love that song.

In the tags it says Jim O'Rourke but he isn't in the video, it's Mark Ibold from Pavement on bass, he's so cool.

  • fucking youth!

  • Im with unadapted. music is was you make of it, it servers no purpose only then its self, witch makes it art and you can precive it in what ever manner you choose.

  • "Does that sound simple? Fuck you! Are you for sale? Does 'fuck you' sound simple enough?"

Damn I love this song. It's perfect song to listen to when you're pissed off at someone.

  • Yeah, let's criticize someone's reason for liking a song. That's a good way to understand people.

  • What made you think I didn't understand your statement? I did understand it, I just thought it was unfair for you to call someone an idiot for reaching a different conclusion about the context or feeling of the song. Honestly, you've changed. You never used to be like this.

  • jesus, either way he didn't deserve to be called an idiot. some people might think this song is about tigers and fruit juice. just because they're wrong doesn't mean their any less intelligent than you are. let people percieve music the way they like instead of forcing your opinion against others.

  • no.

  • whatever, you immature idiot.. you don't deserve to listen to music if you choose to understand it one way.

  • Pretty sure the whole thing is about Prostitution.

  • well, that's just like, your opinion, man.

  • is this based on techno prophet william gibson's sprawl?

  • yup

  • the sprawl is one of their finest, in my mind

how often Ive put this on while staring at windswept blue early evening spring skies

  • Not really. Early evening skies are beautiful.

  • I mostly put this on when driving on the highway past millions of strip malls, where everything is a blur of sameness, just buy-sell-buy-sell-buy-sell.

It allows me to fade out and dissipate in the nightmare.

I have always particularly loved this song.

  • don't forget the stars too:p that's cheesy too but wh ocares:d the end is the best part of the song in my opinion, on of daydream's greatest

  • yeah2 they should play fr the old catalog n mix with the new one....i never get tired to listen to this band after several yrs..it just like u listen at the first time..the vibe its still in it..grand..

  • This is.......... amazing.

  • i think genius is the right word:)
