@MayorofC President Obama is our celebration of what these men fought and died for, whatever we may think of politics. It seems sad that you have missed that. Best wishes to you.
allthough im english,i have a fascination about the american civil war,but it as always been something that i read in a history book or watch stll images on a dvd with period background music, but to actually see these elderly combatants on video footage really does bring to life a conflict that took place in victorian times.the changes these chaps must have witnessed from their childhood to this video footage would be remarkable, was their sacrifice worth it,only americans of today av that answr
The Confederate soldiers, even in old age, seem to possess a dignity that the Union soldiers cannot quite match. They have the remnants of flair and dash of a breed of warriors that no longer exists. Many are tall and slim and appear to be a different racial type to the Northerners.
@zthetha I love your comment, which you said so eloquently. The dignity..the flair.the dash of the Confederates. Well captured in this video and in your words. Well met and I thank you.
Very poignant. Bless all of these men forever. I must note that it's a bit surreal seeing Civil War soldiers (in their later years) riding in automobiles. The changes that they witnessed in American society in their lifetimes must have amazed them. Thank you for sharing this marvelous video. They will never be forgotten.
These are all true Americans. If they saw what this country was like today, they would puke. I'm puking myself.

I would have liked to meet an Andersonville survivor and hear his story

@GuinevereJuliet It is quite surreal to see those who were in the Army before me, and to know that I am here because they did what had to be done.
