Sure the target audience for MMA doesn't reach the black audience as much as they'd like right now...but I don't think you can really call out the racism. Lesnar is a huge name, they had to put GSP in there since he is recognizable from UA now, and Griffin is a huge name as well. You did see Bones Jones and Rashad in there. I don't think picking Machida's front kick over Silva's is really racism.

@kreed82 I think that is unfair. The one quick shot of Shields is he basis for racism? Sure the target audience for MMA doesn't reach the black audience as much as they'd like right now...but I don't think you can really call out the racism. Lesnar is a huge name, they had to put GSP in there since he is recognizable from UA now, and Griffin is a huge name as well. You did see Bones Jones and Rashad in there. I don't think picking Machida's front kick over Silva's is really racism.

@kreed82 But that is the sad thing. White males 18-34 are the key demographic for ANY sport. Unfortunately, they are the ones who often make up the brunt of ticket sales and PPV buys. Nobody is saying it is just. But i definitely hurts your marketability if you're not white and you can't speak English. If it makes you feel better, I am a Chinese American. We have NOTHING to cling to. I mean, Griffin hadn't finished anyone since Rua back in 07..bu his marketability is through the roof.

I just dont see the harm in putting dark faces in the campaign.By your post its almost like you are echoing my sentiment that FOX purposely marketed the ad in such a manner because whites (the primary target market) wont want to watch if they see ppl they cant identify with = blacks

@kreed82 I totally agree that Fox is marketing to white people. I can't blame them. GSP, Lesnar, and Griffin generate ridiculous revenue compared to other fighters. I'm just a little sour. I saw Bones Jones. I saw Rashad Evans. And I saw you say they should have put Anderson Silva in there not just because he is he best MMA fighter of all time...but because they needed more dark skinned people. Well, Asians are an untapped market. Why not have Gomi up there dropping Tyson Griffin?

Obviously I mentioned rashad & silva in 4 their individual achievements during their tenure in the UFC.Rashad is the most succesful fighter to come from TUF & AS has all these UFC streaks, their accolades go beyond colour. 2 not have them heavily focused in the ad is like underselling the ufc

@kreed82 How is that even remotely a fact? Fox is NOTORIOUS for not giving a crap about it's viewers. It does nothing but pan to ratings and revenue. GSP had an Under Armour sponsorship years before Anderson Silva got one from Nike. It is all about marketing. GSP learned English specifically so he could better promote himself and it has paid off. Silva's English is reaching a very high level. Soon, he will be just as marketable.

With this move Dana White already said that they're getting rid of that nu metal music garbage and that shitty ass gladiator intro. This couldn't be more catered to a diverse demographic.

I see a lot of Cain Velasquez as well, but it's obvious they're pushing for the Latino market. I agree though, about getting rid of the metal intro. What is impressive about GSP is that he neutralizes other fighters and takes them out of their normal game plan, not the he beats them at their own game.
