if you're new, you must learn how to trade, which is the easy part, and then learn YOUR mental hurdles to trading, which is the hard part, then trade profitably over a duration of at least a year before you even think about creating a trading business. You must have a consistent positive experience, financial AND mental, to take into your trading business when you start it, otherwise your trading plan will just be a laundry list.

(Reading the list of 20 criteria I realize that I'm nowhere near ready to start investing real money, which is just as well because at least now I have a concrete list of some of the things I need to have to go forward.)

Hi David, i like your advices. Have to read them more than one time i think. I know I make the same mistake often and that is i am to eager and fast. I buy to early and also sell far too early. I bought lots of calls monday morning and sold to early tuesday before lunch, and then i get short, how stupid am I??? Why couldn´t I just sit tight and keep it until today? I even bought more puts in Nokia today.
