As a Texas fan in Hawaii, I gotta give props to Garrett Gilbert in this game. He fought Long and hard. Alabama may have won this round, but if it weren't for Gilbert stepping in, Texas would have been in further disarray. The Alabama fans who were on vacation here in Hawaii showed us Longhorn fans nothing but respect. Much respect to them also. Texas will make a come back this season. I can feel it. HOOK EM HORNS!

My sons last year in the LHB!!! I could pick him out anywhere on the field. He plays a tuba. The bell of the tuba leaned too far forward so, he always wore his cap backward. The only one!

Texas' fight song does indeed sound like "I've Been Working on the Railroad." As an alum of the Pride of Oklahoma, I've had the opportunity to hear it a gazillion times. They know full well that's it's basically the same music, with a twist of something else here and there.

@army88z If you discount technique, precision and true musicianship, then FAMU is a great band. If they're what you use to measure true greatness in a marching band, then FAMU is not a great band. I rejected an offer to go to FAMU, but I chose Oklahoma instead. Didn't want to the whole HBCU thing. I am black and I marched in a predominantly black high school marching band.

Atwntysevn27 That's the problem with HBCU band and their supporters, they take funk and soul over technique.

does anybody else think the Texas fight song sounds like the song "I've been working on the railroad"? Decent halftimes, terrible fight song and band uniform. The best bands of the south are A&M and their Corps style marching and Prairie view A&M. Worst band probably goes to the Raider Band

@Army88Z actually our fight song is based off of Taps, and then we add our alma mater into it...and our fight song is one of the best in the nation, far better than A&Ms. and you can't compare UT and A&M bands, we march COMPLETELY different styles, but I will say that the Longhorn Band has a far better sound then the corps does. You should read up on your facts before you try and bash us. kthxbye. \m/

Read up on facts???? It is called an opinion and in my opinion the Texas fight song sounds cheesy. And yes I am fully aware that Texas marches DCI as oppose to military style such as A&M. That is why A&M's band is better IN MY OPINION. Yes Texas has a better sound but A&M has a decent sound with AMAZING HALFITMES. just check out the OU 2002 A&M halftime. Best halftime ever. Period. In regards to A&M Prairie View, well, it is hard to find a band with such energy.

just watched a couple of their shows. musically they have a great presence but I think in terms of precision in drill, I would say ATM has the better hand. but definitely FAMU is a fantastic band though no doubt about that. thanks for bringing them to my attention I had never seen them before.

I'm in the Alabama band and I agree it was a great experience to get to go to Pasadena. The Longhorn band was really good and I enjoyed getting to hear another great band because the SEC doesn't really have any good bands besides us, LSU and maybe 1 or 2 more. I beleive Texas will make it back to a NCG in no time. Congrats on a great season

A most excellent band....congrats to the Longhorns. The Million Dollar Band from UA is quite an outstanding group, as well. Two of the best college bands in America on parade at the beautiful Rose Bowl....can not get much better.
