the no weapon idea has been done before in clock tower. Personally I feel it's more psychologically unnerving to make the character think they can fight off the monsters, sort of like a false sense of security. SH2 and 3 accomplish this by giving the characters crappy weapons and low amounts of ammo, so its always best to run. The choice is what makes it scary.

I disagree, I think Climax are being VERY original by deliberately doing something different to the look and style of the past games.

The "slut" looking Cybil is one of many ways Cybil can look in the game, depending on the way you play it...the game analyses your playstyle and adjusts accordingly. Clever and original!

e.i. Star Trek 2009 was a "reimagining" of a franchise that was on it's death bed. It was NOT a remake of the old series. But a much needed reboot.

Shattered Memories is just that. An alternate version of the same story set in an alternate universe. That's why they have PDA's and technology that didn't exist in the original.

They did it that way precisely to prevent altering what we knew about the original game. That game will awaya be there.

I would be glad about this reimagining if they weren't raping the original silent hill dark world. What made silent hill scary was the fact that the town itself was a character, by changing a the rusty chain link fences and disgusting buildings into a world of ice, it's bastardising the original game.

Also resident evil 2 is being remade in the darkside chronicles, which looks okay, not great but okay

The point is we're only getting half the game, you can call the rust predictable but it's what sets silent hill apart. Also if they are sticking to the lore then they need the rust because that is Alessa's nightmare world. I'm not flaming the game, i just can't condone that drastic a change.

Um, remember that it was SNOWING in the original game, and in this one? Snow = cold, and extreme cold = ice. Also cold can = death since when you die you lose all body heat and become a cold corpse. Chills are also a common thing people feel when they are afraid, and what else causes chills? That's right, cold.

Who says the Otherworld HAS to be blood and rust? Angela's Otherworld was full of fire and "hot as Hell," and Eddie saw people mocking him.

I, myself, am a big fan of Silent Hill. The series has not let me down yet (yes, that means I liked SH4 and Homecoming), so I have no reason to not like Shattered Memories. Having it be a re imagining of the first game also highly intrigues me since the first is my favorite in the series (I've played through it enough times to know what happens and when). Climax did a great job on Origins so I have a good amount of confidence in them.

Um, it's called "Shattered Memories" for a reason. If this was a remake, you'd know everything that will happen. By being a re imagining, your memories of the original are shattered. Silent Hill has always been about playing with your mind, so now the developers are messing with your memories of SH1.

Also... honestly... "blood and rust" gets a little old after 6 games. The icy Otherworld is actually a nice change of pace. Cold = death.

1. "OMG no Team Silent?!" Team Silent was NEVER one group of people. Team Silent kept getting changed up from game to game, with members coming and going (only permanent member is Akira). Heck, the guy who directed the first SH left the team before SH2 was made, and went on to create Siren. Konami and Akira eventually decided to let new developers have a shot at the series so that Team Silent members could get a break from SH.

They are taking a huge risk by changing so many things, no combat, icy hell instead of rusty hell, psych profiling,enemy´s work together,follow you through doors and such stalking you...endless.

If you where trying to reinvent an old franchise with the high risk of fans rejecting it, wouldn't you choose the cheapest of the current gen consoles to develop for(Wii) which on top of that has a huge amount of new players open to everything.
