@poopinghurtsmyanus you are focusing too much on the instrumentals of the songs on Lasers and FOTP. When really, the genius in his lyrics is still evident. The only flaw is Lupe's mainstream techno-sounding ear lately which is changing sound of his music but the depth, technicality, realness, and conceptuality is still there. All Black Everything, Lupe Back, Words I never Said, TIll I get There, Double Burger with Cheese, The End of the World, and State Run Radio are all pure brilliance.
@lilmissIsis Instrumentals are just as important as lyrics. The thing is, a song can't be good with only one of these. If a song has great lyrics but shitty instrumentals, it's a shitty song. All Black Everything and Double Burger with Cheese were decent (not THAT great) but the rest you listed were horrible. If 2 out of 15 songs on an album are good, then it's a bad album
P.S The chorus to State Run Radio was so god awful that anyone who likes it deserves to be castrated.
@poopinghurtsmyanus i agree, the instrumentals do hold the same value because they ultimately decide if the song is listenable or not, but all that is about personal preference. On Lasers, the intended sound was to get more stadium, performance type music, which is why it was full of loud and more pop-sounding beats. That was the intended sound, so that doesn't make the beats wack in general, not every pop beat in the world is wack. the majority of Lupe fan base just isn't used to that sound.
@lilmissIsis I'm not saying that pop music is bad, i actually like some of it. What I am saying is that I don't want a Lupe album to sound like an electronic/house or pop album. Sometimes it works well and the song turns out catchy (Show goes on) but most of the time it goes horribly wrong (basically every other song on Lasers and FOTP). When I jump from a song like The Coolest to a song like Super Cold or Out of My Head, I can't help but ask myself; what happened?

SLR was super crazy with the metaphors but it didn't belong on Friend of the People, the entire sound was different from the rest of the mixtape and was released months before the FOTP was released.

@MsJx56 I believed that too until he released his new mixtape, friend of the people. musically, it sounded like garbage; 10 times worse than lasers. was just overly political lyrics put to whack ass house beats. I could barely get through 4 songs. And with mixtapes, there is no label interference so there are no excuses. everything put on the mixtape was his doing.
@MsJx56 A mistake on my behalf for not researching that, however, I still feel like most of this album is what he did off of his own opinion like Words I Never Said. He said it was originally supposed to be a love song, but he took it into his own hands to change what it was about to the government.

Even I end up doing hand motions and the 666 hand sign but it's too obvious that he was doing it on purpose. In real life they happen less than a second(about half a second). The concentration level of the characters in films music, videos etc is very high so they know each and every sign they do. And YOU work for them? I see right through you.

You might even say that they are not worshipping it, but they are pretending. Once you take this route of "concrete" you have now taken evidence itself out of the equation. People call hand-signs evidence and you've taken that out of the evidence category. This way you can never reach an honest conclusion!
