The tuners are original, as I can judge it. They are Grover open back. The serial # is 74295 (indicates pretty early 1940) and yes, we are going to sell it - if you'd be interested, I can supply more pics. Just let me know, and I can e-mail them if I know where to send them.
The tuning posts are pretty tall for that era. They must not be original either. Is this guitar for sale? Do you have a serial #? Thinking about selling it/
The bridge saddle has been replaced with a similar bone saddle, that's all. Apart from regular maintenance, everything on this one is all as it was when new. No overspray, no parts changed (apart from mentioned bone saddle)
What was the first song the person played? Beautiful fingerstyle piece. I know it's in Open G tuning.

I have the same guitar here,a 1940 D-18,a flatpicking monster,super loud guitar.Mine's some serial numbers away from yours.Great instrument.
