to finish previous post: we eventually climbed down and ran out of the Park as fast as we could hoping John Rinaldi would never find out. I understand John passed away...even today he would probably slap the back of my head reading this. John was a great guy to work for. I certainly remember the Caurosel...painting the horses over the off season and the special sound ONLY the Palisades Caurosel would fill the air with.
Nice going. I remember the night (as an employee of The Monster...Loop-D-Loop...Roll-O-Plane...Round Up...and Hottnanny) a couple of us decided to stay after the Park closed and climbed up on Casper's Ghostland. About 1 hour after the Park closed the security guy rode through in the 1967 white Dodge station wagon. I could have just hopped down and identified myself and nothing would have gone any further..but we stayed up there and became quite scared that we would be spotted and turned in.
Even at 71, the memories of Palisades live on ... and on. At times, I can still hear the brass bell clanging on the caurosel ... hear the Laughing Lady ... and the roar of the roller coaster overhead.
