Our best friend Ian died last year. He was a passionate Newcastle fan, and greatly admired Speedo. Not a day goes by that I don't think of Ian. Please take care of Gary in heaven.

RIP Gary Speed. Interesting bit if trivia; when Gary played for Newcastle he was the Welsh captain and in that team he played alongside Aaron Hughes (the Northern Ireland Captain) Duncan Ferguson (the Scotland captain) and Alan Shearer (the England Captain). For a short time all four British captains played together in black & white.

Nice compilation of Gary's goals during his time playing for the Toon. A Leeds & Newcastle legend and everyone at both clubs seems to be united (no pun intended) in grief for the loss of an all round nice guy. I can't begin to think what his family are going through but I know they're aware how much the fans from both clubs, and indeed the footballing world in general, have been equally shocked and offer their sympathies.

A great shame. Fantastic memories of my teenage years and the Champions League. Fit as a fiddle and always grafting. The steel in the midfield to let Robert, Dyer et al do their work. Not that he was short of any class either and Christ, he could 'narf head a ball too. Always remembered his wet look gel and beaming smile. The news had me devastated.
