My cockatoo bites random...he will get on to my hand and stay there for several minutes then bite or put his claw out to be picked up and if I dont let him right away he will strike out he has bit me in the face when I refused to let him get on my shoulder (he was on the back of the couch and wanted on me). Not sure how I can distract or use negative reinforcement in these situation?
@TheIronmaiden69 it does hurt when he / she bites you for the first time. but when your training him/her to step up it may bite you, because it is scared. once you get used to it( I am) it doesn't really bother you, yet it still does hurt.
hey expert village i have 2 parakeets that both like to bite it doesnt hurt me to much but im worried my little cousins i try tapping there nose and telling no! it still doesnt make them stop
@MsMad979 the cockatoo probobly has picked it's feathers out due to someone (probobly the previous owner) not giving well enough care for him. that's what happens to a beautiful bird if you don't know what you're doing but you get one anyways.
I have a sun conure, Can you help me keep him from "ATTACKING" everyone but me. It doesn't matter who, he attacks, if they come near me. He has a mate. So, I don't think that is the case. It is getting out of control. I have Grandkids, I am afraid he is going to hurt someone real bad.
Could you help me with this problem. Okay my bird does bit for two reasons. One, i put my hand to close to her face. that i can avoid. Two, she starts to nip when shes hungry. Is there any way to tell when a bird is hungry?
My parrot is so afraid of hands she growls at me when i put my hands in to change the water and food, she will only take treats from my hand occasionally but if i am asking her to step up she will ignore the treats and growl. she hates hands and i dont know how to overcome this :(
my bird is 5 years old by the way and i have a baby parrot that was so sweet when i got her but now that i put pepe ( the rescued bird) with her all she does it bite people and not get off their shoulder and screeches as if mad when i try to offer her my finger so i can put her in her cage she is still very small thank you if you read this and if you respond
Hello, i have recently rescued a parrot from some guy who couldnt take care of it so now i have a parrot but the strange thing is he bites everyone except for me but if he steps up sometimes he climbs to my shoulder and bites me every other second very hard and doesnt want to get off. i sometimes get my sister to use a towel to get him off carefully but is there anyway to stop him from doing that? when he is on my hand or anywhere i can pet him and he licks me but screams when i leave help? ty
i have a 15 year old parrot called molly...i have her bout 7 year she has started to bite me fly in the air an attack me... scream alot...she lived with 3 other bird before i had her cooatoo an 2 african grays she was very quite around these 3 other birds...the shy 1 u could say...i would like to start training her but i cant even get her listen to me is there an tip u could give me..
cockatoo is plucking his feathers. It means that either this woman doesn't know what is she doing or more probably the parrot has been rescued recently and this is shelter for birds
@TrnsfrmerPrncs4lyfe :ok, whats wrong with you?! its a poor bird, that has a condition, and ur seriously making fun of it? 1.) i bet that bird was rescued from a stressful environment, and plucked its own feathers. 2.) its spelled pedophile. 3.) do u even know what that word means?! its means a person/an adult who is sexually attracted to a child...and yea, i looked it up. im just saying this because i feel sorry for the poor bird, and u making fun of it.
@benisimeg188oy 1) he never even mentioned the feathers 2) thats obviously a typo 3) yeah the word means that but people jokingly use that word to describe people/animals who look creepily funny (i mean cmon, lok at the the way hes looking at the camera, thats freakin hilarious xD) 4) he never made fun of the bird
My blue crown conure is 8 years old. Every time anyone goes near his cage, sticks their fingers in or tries to pet him he fluffs up and tries to bite. He gets even more agitated if you so much as open his cage to try ask him step up or even give him a treat. If you give him a treat he will bite the treat and immediately go for your finger. Ive tried the distraction and he either runs away from anything I hold or if its a treat he will still go for my fingers. What should i do?
Ive been trying to sit next to his cage and speak nicely and give him treats, then I put my finger and carefully let him lick it. As soon as he nips or pinches I immediately get up and walk away. If he does it very hard I even cover his cage and give him a "Time out" It seems to be working because he loves attention and hates being ignored. Every time i go back he nips less. Is this the right approach? I dont want to do any negative damage but hes a bratt and im not sure how else to do it.
How do I get my cockatoo to stop biting me when I'm putting him back inside his home(cage)? I'd love any feedback.
Also is there any way I could stop him from running around on the floor and nipping at my feet? I don't put him on the floor he climbs down and wanders. I have two small children that I fear might lose a toe or two so any help or advice would be awsome! Thank you
i have a african grey that loves me a little too much, she never bites me but when my children come for a cuddle she bites them.my 10 yr old son is her nemesis, she actually flys and lands on his head and starts to peck him. maybe i should start getting the kids more involved in her feeding or something??...then she'd probably start biting me!
I have watched this video a dozen times and I cant help but think the cockatoo looks like something from war of the worlds. Poor birdie. By the way, good and helpful video!
I bought a Cockatiel today and of course she bit me. After a while of wearing gloves, I decided to put my finger in front of her with the gloves off, but she nibbled on it instead of biting it, and I kept putting my finger in front of her ever few minutes or so and she wouldn't bite it any more. I put her on my finger and she stayed there, so I put my other finger by her again, but she bit it hard and made my finger bleed a bit.
@254Wacolion She just needed time to settle in. She was just very stressed and not used to her environment. Wearing gloves stresses the bird even more. They need 1-5 days to get used to everything and calm down with no to minimal interaction with you. Meaning only cleaning her cage and giving fresh food and water. But good luck with your new addition !
i dont know if my cockatial is just anturally needy or what , i got her when she was about 10 weeks i think it was.. i never used any kind of reward system with food..i think she just craved affection , she wud rather cuddle with me than do anything else.. trust is the biggest thing with animals and understanding how they react to things.. for example my bird will kill for a scratch on the head..
I'm just wondering if anyone could suggest what I can do to get a bird to eat from your hand?
From what I can tell in training them they need a reward. However my birds still quite young (7 weeks) seem no to be interested in coming to me let alone eating from my hand. Does anyone have any tips about training them to eat from my hand?
my spoiled bratty cockatiel would bite my hand to bleed even no matter how much i tilt my hand like that...in fact it compels him to bite... but i love my little rascal so much!!
@avrahamdavid but I think he likes me .. He calls me when I pass by him .. and plays with me always .. He talks to me .. but he's too scared to step on my hand .. I can get him to step up but it's always an unpleasant experience for both of us coz he bites when he's on my hands..
@woundedAlkuwarii The way i got my bird to step up onto my hand was i first took out his food for a couple hours then i put a couple seeds on the palm of my hand that he could reach with his beak and then alot where he couldnt reach them he was the same as your bird before i did this and then the next day i taught him to step up becaus he knew my hand wasnt a threat and ive only had him for 2 weeks
My grey african flies all over the house .. he never stays on his cage like that .. and he always break the wood stick .. he's not aggressive or anything .. he never bites .. never .. but he refuses to step on he hands .. i can't carry him anywhere .. any solutions ? I tried what she said .. i used food as a distraction but he just ignores me .. what should i do ?
Most birds that look like that over preen themselves. He probably kept pulling out the feathers he didn't like and ended up with barley any at all. It's like a major case of OCD for birds.
when my bird bites me i put it in a fucking head lock... no spoiled ass animals live in my house.. you women need to grow balls and quit putting up with that shit
@xxwesdogxx Fuck you. animals shouldnt be teached with cruelty. And their not spoiled unlike you. People like you shoudnt even own a pet let alone touch it.
@xxwesdogxx you spoiled little its true you have to teach an animal whose boss but hurting the animal is gone too far did your mommy hurt you when you were little?!
I can't stop my rainbow lorikeet from biting. I have no idea why is he/she doing this (I don't know if it's male or female yet), I don't scare or scream at her... Every time she gets out the cage she instantly starts biting. Please help.
this video doesnt help me at all, i have a lovebird he doesnt bite me, but when my parents are around my work table he runs to bite them hes very smart and enjoy scarying my family, hes a lovely little evil thing :'D
I started my text below. My husband on the other hand can cutle her and even kiss. She is like the humbelest bird on earth with him. And if someone comes to visit she lets them touch immidiateli. But there is a catch you can touch her if you are male. she does not like woman. Even the last family where she stayed she did not like the familys females. How can I change that??? Mabe it is just her personality? Sorry if I gave mistakes in my text. English is not my motherlanguage.
Hi! I have the same bird-african grey. We have had her for like 5 years and she has never liked me. I could not do that what you just showed because I can not even get her on to my arm without biting me. And she bites hard. I can get her on to my arm only then when I have a bigass towel wrapped around my arm and even then she bites. And this balance thing you sayd does not work on her. She wants to bite me even when I am changeing her water or seeds.

hi, i have an african grey when i take him on my hand he straight away goes up to my shoulder how can i stop that and how can i stop the bird from going up until i tell him too?
@zombiecommanderXD So I just got a rose breasted cockatoo, about a week ago, and I wanna know if anyone can halp me with building her trust, she is hesitant when i ask her to step up she will put one talon or foot on me and then back up and bite me, she wasnt like that with me when we first met her. She came right to me at her old home, but now it seems she hates me haha. Yet my boyfriend can go over ask her to step up and she DOES! I just wanna let her know I wont hurt her and she can trust me
@ThingTwo1126 well its the same case with you an it just occured to me possibly the bird is used to males not females maybe he is shy around females lol an the bird is just adjusting just read some of the other comments i made an message me about anything also the bird is adjusting to the new place an where is your husband with the bird when he steps up is he near his cage or away
@zombiecommanderXD He is usually in the cage. He will just put his hand in and she steps up, then he puts her on top of her cage to play and he will put his hand up and she steps up. Im jealpus of that haha. I want her to come to me, since she is with me most of the day when he is at work. I tried to get her to step up earlier and she bit me harder than usual she drew blood, I didnt like it lol. But I didnt give her a reaction like ow or anythin but she still bites me :(

@zubairbawa same way with all birds trust an slowly teach him your hand is a good thing then bring your hand towards his feet lower chest area push foward an up VERY gently an he should step up an say the command your want him to associate with that
Hi ya, I have bought a 7 year old Galah Cockatoo and when we went to see him in the shop he loved me and I could rub his head and belly and under his wing but now where home he loves my husband and wont let me touch him. He takes a sun flower seed out of my hand but wont let me stroke him. He will put his head down for me to stroke him but he bites me as soon as I go to touch him.
Please help, I am spending all my time with him and feel totally defeated!!!
@kayteb2b well how long are you around him, an do you an your husband fight? yelling or a person scaring a bird may cause them to be fearful of that person. My 3 year old blue an gold macaw used to bite my dad whenever he came in my room because my bird has witnesed my dad yelling an being aggressive so to speak. my dad had to have me hug him after that an my bird had to see my dad wasn't going to hurt me before he stopped biting
@zombiecommanderXD Hi ya, I am around him all day other then when Im doing the school runs...me and hubby dont hardly ever fight and havent infront of the bird but he prob see's me telling my daughter off when she is naughty in the day...could that be a problem? Also I was wondering when ever I try to spend some time with him either my dog or kids get jealous and end up butting in for my attention...
Also my husband is always taking him from me thinking its funny, could this be a problem.
@kayteb2b well them taking the bird from you can confuse the bird into thinking A: you can't be trusted in an indirect way or B: the BIRD is jealous of the fact he can't get alone time with you my hyacinth macaw was biting me well more like pinching (as a bite well i probably could not type) because whenever my sister or brother came in my room yelling at me because i didn't drive them to where they wanted to be or my dad telling me my life doesn't revolve around me caused the bird to be scared
@zombiecommanderXD I did think that it could make the bird think this, I have asked my husband to stop paying the bird attention so he gets attention only from me but he keeps taking him from me and playing with him!!!! Its making me really stressful and resentful about the situation as I pay him so much attention when my husband is at work.
@zombiecommanderXD Its got to the point if I'm near the cage and someone is stroking him he turns nasty coz Im there or if his on my shoulder he turns on anyone that tries to touch him.
Please help me, I really am getting stressed out with it!!!
@kayteb2b well my advice is to just sit around the cage a bit more eating near him socalizing him (like talking to him as if he was a human) how ever crazy that might be or sound. An also some birds just get attached to one person. NOT that it's unable to be conditiond my birds know me more because im with them an play with them if my mom comes in she can hold him get him to roll over an be a baby thats about it... though does more then one person in the house train him thats not very good.
@zombiecommanderXD I am gutted to say things are getting worse, I have tried sitting around or next to his cage and talking to him all the time, when I let him sit on top of his cage in the day he tears my wall paper so I have to put him back in the cage. He wont take food from me any more and snaps at me or the cage if Im close to him.
He loves my husband and climes out of his cage to him and sits there talking to him but he wont do anything with me now,
@kayteb2b this is negative response an the bird will not want to lose balance an not get a treat but gain balance an get a treat. this is the first step then slowly bring your hand closer slowly. an treat as you go if you get what i mean. then your bird will know your not going to hurt him or her. then get your hand towards the feet an say the command you want to associate for the bird to go on your hand i use come up because soon your bird will respond only to visual an drop the command or the
@zombiecommanderXD Also when I put him on a perch to get him on to my arm he flies back to his cage and growls at me. I dont think this bird will ever like me and dont think Im going to win.
@kayteb2b alright well this is my advice Make one person the trainer no one teaches him anything but that person. Get all your family if possible an come in the same room as the bird. an get whom ever is the trainer to get him an make sure NO ONE but the trainer has taught him anything i think the trainer should be you. An he is tearing wall paper an being destructive because he is stressed have you ever though maybe your bird was molting. maybe thats it my birds won't let me touch em when they
@kayteb2b are molting an ALSO your husband can't have any contact with the bird for the time being start getting the bird used to different people try getting him to step on the perch take perch out of cage an GET CAGE OUT or go to differnt room so the bird is dependant on you to keep him safe the bird know's the cage as his "safe place". you try to bring your hand close an treat him if he dosen't hiss move or lunge lather rinse an repeat so to speak an when he does lunge wobble the perch a bit
@zombiecommanderXD pls message me im now obsessed with helping you out an if he likes your husband (i know this is going against what i just send but try an work with me here) maybe if you bring him around an you an "hubby" sit around with each other an he sees that he will think more or less "hmm she isn't hurting him an i like him" an again follow what i also said an finally maybe see if your husband maybe able to transfer the bird to YOU maybe that will help an please make a video on the
@zombiecommanderXD progress or regression i would like to see what you are or aren't doing remember you can't teach your bird while he is near the cage
@kayteb2b not sure why but it is if i were you i would socalize him as like everyone try to hold him not at the same time but slowly give LOTs of praise an treats show him no one will ever hurt him an NEVER yell or hit or even tap the bird when he bites an if he does what does he like to do be outside his cage then put him in don't show or yell owww when he does i recomend wrapping your hands in something like the color of your skin an then you wont be able to be bit so easily. last but not leas
@zombiecommanderXD Make sure your bird knows he won't get any where by biting. like i or my sister would yell or get mad instead of calmly asking my parents why i wasan't allowed to do that. i will try to make a video my sisters tiel isn't exactly tame so i will show that as an example sound cool?
@zombiecommanderXD progress or regression i would like to see what you are or aren't doing remember you can't teach your bird while he is near the cage an i have comments below yours that umm guess were made wrong?

@kayteb2b so i recommend you try to find a place with some treats or however your bird likes to be treated an make sure its quiet an do some trust exercise ( by bringing your hand however close your feathery friend will let you) an give him a treat every time slowly get closer some with figure it out first time some 2 or 3 patience is a virtue i would start about 6in an then go from there. hope this helps message me for any more questions
Why did my bird freak out when I let it out of the cage after a month since I bought it? It was on the highest place of the room for the whole day and then started flying, hit four walls with its head and fell down... please answer cuz now I'm afraid to let it out again :((
@NarutoFan9342 your bird was excited an didn't know what he would do or what was going to happen. He possibly went high to feel safe as he wasan't used to being out let him out MORE an keep a close eye on him until he learns its a good thing an nothing bad will happen to him. one last thing clip his flight feathers. he won't feel a thing. it will make sure he doesen't fly far an fast. if he hits his poor little head he could die.

@NarutoFan9342 lure him in or target training or simply end it on a very positve note an give him lots of praisean reward usually though the bird prefers the cage interesting any ways just taunt an lure him in soon u just put him on your hand an put him in the cage. an he will learn that sometimes you need to do something without him
What can you do for a bird who bites but if you try the hand motion thing but they freak out and fly away instead (well mine is not flighted but he flys to the floor and away from the person he is trying to bite) He bites they flutters away. I jsut started recently.
I have a yellow naped parrot that was abused before I got him and he only has one eye. I have had him two yrs and he will put one foot on my finger and apply pressure but will not get on my hand or let me touch him. How do I get him to get on my hand? and yes he will try to bite and bites hard.
I've got a female budgie, I've had her for around 5-6 years and I don't know if she hates me or what. So, I add her favourite food on my hands, she eats from my hand and still doesn't want to get on it. And sometimes while she eats she bites my hand for no reason at all! What do I do? D:
I bet she rescued the bird from a deceased owner, or an abusive owner. What NerdHunter says is true. When they lose a bonded person, or are abused they will become extremly depressed & pluck.
Thanks for the tips. My bird doesn't like to step up and refuses to, in fact. I push my fingers against his feet and he still resists. He doesn't usually bite unless it's while his cage is open and he is outside the cage.
how do you make them bite less hard when they intent to bite soft?
like after petting she used to bite you really soft and lick you but her bite got stronger somehow and the soft bite gets harder. shes not doing it cause shes scared cause she lets me pet her and if she wants to she can bit my finger to bleeding
WTF?, Bite out of fear? My Grey gets on my hand, scratches his head on my arm and leans over for me to pet him and when I do he bites me, man he sets me up for it. How do I get him to be less devious?
To everyone who is complaining about the captions/words/transcript covering the screen :
Look at the video where you see the play button and the sound, and move to the right. On the video there should be a place that says "cc" in a little square. If you click that, you can turn off the words.
I have an umbrellla cockatoo and he only bites when he has to go up the stairs because he knows that his cage is upstairs and he is about to have to go inside. How do i stop him from biting when going upstairs?
@izmail1215 Thats what i give him. I give him penicls to destroy but he doesnt hold on to the pencil he just drops it because he doesnt want to loose his balance. What do i do?
@Umbrellatooify penicles are bad for the and can kill. that is not a treat that is a chew toy for him he dosnt like his toys if you give him penciels to ply with he should be on a pellet diet not a seed one. penuts and sun flowers should be used treats. search clicker tranning parrot on you tube.
My parakeet doesn't bite because he's afraid - he seems to fear only the vacuum and blender. He bites because it is an effective way to train me not to come at him with my fingers to manipulate him or his cage, food, coins or things - no matter how nicely. He prefers to be the manipulator in the relationship. It is a battle of wills that he has won... except when I wear "the glove", then he complies perfectly without trying to bite because he knows when the jig is up.
@livelovemakeart Your conure might have realized that if he bites you, you will make an exciting sound (Ouch!) that he likes, and has decided that it is a fun game to play. You need to try (as hard as it may be) to not make the game fun and exciting anymore. How do you do that?... by not saying ouch. (like I said, as hard as that may be).
My bird always jumps to the back of the cage when anyones near it it just a baby but iv seen so many baby bird interact with it's owneri don't know get mine to do that ;(((
Be patient, work with the bird twice a day on a consistent basis. Figure out what irritates the bird. I can't have food (my food) or be eating around my bird. She will attack and bite. I also can't clean the cage unless the bird is locked in the cage. She is very territorial. Play calming music so the bird and you can relax and get to be friends. I play lullabies. She loves them, and yes I'm sick of them, but it's worth it. She is cuddling like crazy now.
The bird just over preened itself. Usually they just pull out a couple feathers that are out of place, but some birds go overboard and just keep plucking untill there is almost nothing left. Its sort of like a severe case of OCD for birds.

@TheIronmaiden69 it does hurt when he / she bites you for the first time. but when your training him/her to step up it may bite you, because it is scared. once you get used to it( I am) it doesn't really bother you, yet it still does hurt.

@MsMad979 the cockatoo probobly has picked it's feathers out due to someone (probobly the previous owner) not giving well enough care for him. that's what happens to a beautiful bird if you don't know what you're doing but you get one anyways.

What should i do?
bettyxkillz 7 months ago

Thank you
jaxntwins 7 months ago
i have a african grey that loves me a little too much, she never bites me but when my children come for a cuddle she bites them.my 10 yr old son is her nemesis, she actually flys and lands on his head and starts to peck him. maybe i should start getting the kids more involved in her feeding or something??...then she'd probably start biting me!

254Wacolion 8 months ago
@254Wacolion She just needed time to settle in. She was just very stressed and not used to her environment. Wearing gloves stresses the bird even more. They need 1-5 days to get used to everything and calm down with no to minimal interaction with you. Meaning only cleaning her cage and giving fresh food and water. But good luck with your new addition !
kahawiaa 8 months ago
i dont know if my cockatial is just anturally needy or what , i got her when she was about 10 weeks i think it was.. i never used any kind of reward system with food..i think she just craved affection , she wud rather cuddle with me than do anything else.. trust is the biggest thing with animals and understanding how they react to things.. for example my bird will kill for a scratch on the head..

Thanks

zombiecommanderXD 11 months ago
@zombiecommanderXD He is usually in the cage. He will just put his hand in and she steps up, then he puts her on top of her cage to play and he will put his hand up and she steps up. I tried to get her to step up earlier and she bit me harder than usual she drew blood, I didnt like it lol. But I didnt give her a reaction like ow or anythin but she still bites me :(

Please help, I am spending all my time with him and feel totally defeated!!!
kayteb2b 11 months ago
@kayteb2b well how long are you around him, an do you an your husband fight? yelling or a person scaring a bird may cause them to be fearful of that person. My 3 year old blue an gold macaw used to bite my dad whenever he came in my room because my bird has witnesed my dad yelling an being aggressive so to speak. my dad had to have me hug him after that an my bird had to see my dad wasn't going to hurt me before he stopped biting
zombiecommanderXD 11 months ago
@zombiecommanderXD Hi ya, I am around him all day other then when Im doing the school runs...me and hubby dont hardly ever fight and havent infront of the bird but he prob see's me telling my daughter off when she is naughty in the day...could that be a problem? Also I was wondering when ever I try to spend some time with him either my dog or kids get jealous and end up butting in for my attention...
Also my husband is always taking him from me thinking its funny, could this be a problem.
kayteb2b 11 months ago
@kayteb2b well them taking the bird from you can confuse the bird into thinking A: you can't be trusted in an indirect way or B: the BIRD is jealous of the fact he can't get alone time with you my hyacinth macaw was biting me well more like pinching (as a bite well i probably could not type) because whenever my sister or brother came in my room yelling at me because i didn't drive them to where they wanted to be or my dad telling me my life doesn't revolve around me caused the bird to be scared
zombiecommanderXD 11 months ago
@zombiecommanderXD I did think that it could make the bird think this, I have asked my husband to stop paying the bird attention so he gets attention only from me but he keeps taking him from me and playing with him!!!! Its making me really stressful and resentful about the situation as I pay him so much attention when my husband is at work.
kayteb2b 11 months ago
@zombiecommanderXD Its got to the point if I'm near the cage and someone is stroking him he turns nasty coz Im there or if his on my shoulder he turns on anyone that tries to touch him.
Please help me, I really am getting stressed out with it!!!
kayteb2b 11 months ago
@kayteb2b well my advice is to just sit around the cage a bit more eating near him socalizing him (like talking to him as if he was a human) how ever crazy that might be or sound. An also some birds just get attached to one person. NOT that it's unable to be conditiond my birds know me more because im with them an play with them if my mom comes in she can hold him get him to roll over an be a baby thats about it... though does more then one person in the house train him thats not very good.
zombiecommanderXD 11 months ago
@zombiecommanderXD I am gutted to say things are getting worse, I have tried sitting around or next to his cage and talking to him all the time, when I let him sit on top of his cage in the day he tears my wall paper so I have to put him back in the cage. He wont take food from me any more and snaps at me or the cage if Im close to him.
He loves my husband and climes out of his cage to him and sits there talking to him but he wont do anything with me now,
kayteb2b 11 months ago
@kayteb2b this is negative response an the bird will not want to lose balance an not get a treat but gain balance an get a treat. this is the first step then slowly bring your hand closer slowly. an treat as you go if you get what i mean. then your bird will know your not going to hurt him or her. then get your hand towards the feet an say the command you want to associate for the bird to go on your hand i use come up because soon your bird will respond only to visual an drop the command or the
zombiecommanderXD 11 months ago
@zombiecommanderXD Also when I put him on a perch to get him on to my arm he flies back to his cage and growls at me. I dont think this bird will ever like me and dont think Im going to win.
Im gutted :-(
kayteb2b 11 months ago
@kayteb2b alright well this is my advice Make one person the trainer no one teaches him anything but that person. Get all your family if possible an come in the same room as the bird. an get whom ever is the trainer to get him an make sure NO ONE but the trainer has taught him anything i think the trainer should be you. An he is tearing wall paper an being destructive because he is stressed have you ever though maybe your bird was molting. maybe thats it my birds won't let me touch em when they
zombiecommanderXD 11 months ago
@kayteb2b are molting an ALSO your husband can't have any contact with the bird for the time being start getting the bird used to different people try getting him to step on the perch take perch out of cage an GET CAGE OUT or go to differnt room so the bird is dependant on you to keep him safe the bird know's the cage as his "safe place". you try to bring your hand close an treat him if he dosen't hiss move or lunge lather rinse an repeat so to speak an when he does lunge wobble the perch a bit
zombiecommanderXD 11 months ago
@zombiecommanderXD pls message me im now obsessed with helping you out an if he likes your husband (i know this is going against what i just send but try an work with me here) maybe if you bring him around an you an "hubby" sit around with each other an he sees that he will think more or less "hmm she isn't hurting him an i like him" an again follow what i also said an finally maybe see if your husband maybe able to transfer the bird to YOU maybe that will help an please make a video on the

zombiecommanderXD 11 months ago
@kayteb2b not sure why but it is if i were you i would socalize him as like everyone try to hold him not at the same time but slowly give LOTs of praise an treats show him no one will ever hurt him an NEVER yell or hit or even tap the bird when he bites an if he does what does he like to do be outside his cage then put him in don't show or yell owww when he does i recomend wrapping your hands in something like the color of your skin an then you wont be able to be bit so easily. last but not leas

To everyone who is complaining about the captions/words/transcript covering the screen :
Look at the video where you see the play button and the sound, and move to the right. On the video there should be a place that says "cc" in a little square. If you click that, you can turn off the words.

kalin334 1 year ago

@MrSkyMalta

Our Cockatiel freaks out and tries to bite anyone that comes near his cage. I'm convinced he was abused at the pet store.

@davidpfol
some parrots pluck their own feathers off.!
thats why she still has fethers on her head cuz thats the only place she couldnt reach

@davidpfol
The bird just over preened itself. Usually they just pull out a couple feathers that are out of place, but some birds go overboard and just keep plucking untill there is almost nothing left. Its sort of like a severe case of OCD for birds.
