It would be fine if this guy were saying "this is my own self-taught way of doing this." This is definitely not the slap technique that congueros use, though. There's a whole tradition there, and it's worth consulting. It's fine to throw the rules away, but don't pretend that your made-up way is the right way.

However, if you are putting yourself out there teaching others (especially beginners) and portraying yourself as an 'expert' in the field you should at least know what you are talking about.
