you do realise germany did capture allied equipment throughout the war?

thing is, the germans didn't issue .45 ammo, so there would be no point in using one since the only thing they did was retreating at that point of the war (hence almost no chance to get great amounts of ammo ). but you're right, they used captured equipment and vehicles, too.

In fact, I've seen a PPsh that some German soldier brought with him to the Western front.

I think it's in the La Gleize Museum.

yeah you're right. but I wouldn't bring it to Belgium, you see^^ for the ardennes were not part of the eastern front afak ;) so one couldn't get ammo for it since it used 7,62mm rounds...which was not issued by the Wehrmacht.

but they had a faster ROF, were more reliable and easier to maintain than the MP 40. they should have copied those^^

a 7.62mm is an awfully big bullet to be shot out of a sub machine gun. you'd have a hell of a time trying to hold your gun shooting 7.62s at that rate of rife. i'm pretty sure the ppsh didn't use this ammo because 7.62s are used in the M14 which is a lot bigger than the ppsh. check your facts.

the M14 uses a 7.62 RIFLE round, which has a bigger shell and much more powder in it...you should take the 7.62 Tokarev pistol rounds into account...like the ones the Russians used in their pistols and smg's...

because there were no dead russians in belgium -.-...and they couldn't bring much russian ammo to the western front because they were retreating and thus had no chance to get lorry loads...taking one magazine would be peanuts, wouldn't it?

A Russian gun inspired the ak-47 and it was built in WW2 so it would be ok for an AK-47.

AK 47 is inspired in the german stg44 (the 1ºst Assault rifle). There is no airsoft version for that rifle, so many people use AK 47 instead, that's why that guy is holding an AK

Anarchist09 is right, I have bought about 5 Marusin M1 Garands, when I play I play hardcore, First M1 Garand, bolt bented back rushing out of a MG42's line of fire, 2 Garand's lost to the barrel being crushed by a rockslide, the last 2 got jammed and had the clips break through the sides. There the closest thing to an M1 garand without dishing out on a stupid amount for a gas blowback M1 garand or M1 carbine. So its either M14 or thompson for allies of K98 or MP40 for germans.

No flags except where necessary (for instance they have been used for marking objectives or regen points) and we don't really want to see political armbands at events either. Doing the Nazi salute is most definitely frowned upon!

Why cant anyone get a REAL WW2 game......One side has ONLY american clothes....people mix up nazis with americans....and the other side nazis...give the nazis german weapons not american and americans american weapons not german....

Well, the weapons are, as far as I could see, pretty decent. I saw mostly Thompson M1/M1A1's on the US side, which is pretty correct. Maybe the odd Garand. There was also a German officer-looking dude with a Thompson, which is indeed odd. But maybe some Germans used captured Thompsons? I know they sometimes salvaged captured M1 Garands. I think there was also a MG42, which is ok for German side. All in all pretty cool in my opinion.

only problem I have with airsoft is that you can run around with LMGs and manage to fire them without use of bipod/tripod, lol. I'd prolly do it if the guns weren't so expensive.. I turned to the real steel side.

We actually include a rule in our games to deal with exactly that problem.

We say that Support Weapons (eg MG42 or Bren (etc)) cannot be used unless deployed in position.

At the time of the event there were very few full-suto airsoft weapons available on the market, so some of the germans had to use "captured" thompsons. Now however a chinese manufacturer has released a very cheap and very good MP40 airsoft gun, so hopefully the germans will be armed more authentically!
