Hey, just wanted to let everyone know I've left Open Labs and started a new company called Music Computing. Check out the new gear at Music Computing or click the link below for videos. - Thanks, Victor Wong
Sweet stuff bro. We're up to very similar types of production and performance. I use an EWI mapped out to Live's Sampler and live sax, plus APC40, MPK25 and MPD32. Keep pushin the envelope bro. Nice work!
this is good im just getting into djing and getting back into music and and thinking about going to school at full sail do u reccomend it if u know about the school ???????well i also played saxophone in middle middle and high school but that was amazing ....but it sounded you but jazz in there and it sounded awsome

@j03tv Thanks for the feedback, but pretty much the point of the whole thing was a demonstration of timestretching for the students in my musical technology class - so without the voice there wouldn't have been anything much to show them!
@IglooDweller Keyboards and sax mainly, but can get by on a few other instruments. I've been programming synths going back to the Roland JX-3P, D50, and Yamaha DX7 and playing sax for about 20 years.
Well done, beautiful remix. I likeit. A bit of an interview at the start. Which is great the first time you watch it, but sucks in playlist additions. Can we get a version with JUST the song for our playlists? Hey, not my fault you're playlist worthy.
can u get the sessions u make? i no there is the record button so id say u do and if so how can we get hold of them? id say u write music often as u have a fair bit of equip n from previous u talk of programs i have used that others dont no of.
Hey im new to your work i have only watched 4 videos my fav being the money for nothing remix i like your wind controler you played that well i wish i had this whole set up you had :D
You will need a MIDI sound module. The one I use is a Yamaha VL70m, and it connects to the WX11 via a proprietary cable. The newer models (WX7 etc) connect directly to any MIDI sound module via a MIDI cable.
I bought an Akai EWI4000S and I just love it! It is a bit of a challenge since I'm so used to my Alto Sax but I'm getting the hang of it. I'm playing along to music on my DJ system and my Akai APC40 like you.
Very cool!! I am a DJ/Musician with a full set up including the APC40, I have been considering the Akai EWI4000s because I have years and years experience as a saxophone player. I own a Selmer Alto sax and consider myself pretty good at it.
What do you think, is the transition simple enough to go from a real acoustic instrument to one of these electronic mock-ups?
I play real sax as well, and I would never consider it a 'replacement', however it's in every sense a real instrument, and great for lots of other sounds where a real sax wouldn't work. You just have to get the right sound module. It doesn't take too long to learn if you're already a sax a player. Sounds like you have a great setup!
The only problem I have experienced is tuning, it doesn't always ring true and it doesn't tune as easy as my sax, I have been using the pitch control on my system which also changes tempo. Any ideas?
@RudeDog66 Just practice :) You can adjust the sensitivity with the wheel below the reed. It really is an actual instrument with its own idiosyncrasies, and I think some people don't realise you need to learn it just like any other instrument. The new ones like the WX-7 are much easier to play.
I also have a Yamaha Clavinova and a Baldwin grand piano. I think this electronic instrument would be a great bridge between keyboard and woodwind. I am a much stronger sax player than pianist, so this new toy would be great.
You did a fantastic job and have given me the boost I've needed to give it a try.

What kind of "sound module?" As in soundcard?
I own a PreSonus StudioLive 16.4.2 FireWire digital desk/mixer, would I be able to use that as a soundcard? How does it connect for sound?
Thanks, I appreciate the information!
