  • at 1:13 to the end awesome lightning fotage

  • nice video. There is nothing like the thrill of driving near and through supercells.

  • Awesome......hopefully I can do a core punch in a supercell soon

  • 1;11 - 1;17 was amazing : ) and great footage too

  • has to be at least near 100 mph winds

  • @ventilize wrong, it was a 2 MONTH not 2 year

  • Das muss ein ziemlich heftiges Unwetter gewesen sein. Im Sommer 2009 zog in der Nacht in Ummeln auch so ein heftiges Unwetter, allerdings ohne Tornado. 5 Sterne

  • really nice!

  • What do you think the most powerful kind of thunderstorm is?

  • nice lightning man

  • Great look inside the Bear's Cage!!

  • its just a storm

  • dude that is sick!!!!!! wow!!!!!!!

  • At the beggining of the video was it sunset or sunrise and at the miidle of the video was that smoke coming out of your car?

  • hammer wie die blitze durchziehn

  • i guess lighting probably helps in this case, so you can see where the vortex would be

  • nice shot of the mammatus clouds at the beginning, and the lightning at the end is pretty wicked. am i hearing tornado sirens between 1:17 and 1:23?

  • yup

  • That is awesome !

  • 1:00 - 1:07 A lot of detail.

  • at 1:24 is that just a low cloud or a big funnel cloud?

  • looks like a low cloud to me

  • you can see more if you are not underneath the core of the storm. Good lightning video though!

  • Here in dominican.rep. ive seen rains like this but for only like 5 mins lol. One minute its sunny and hottt, and the other minute its all stormy, then the other minute its sunny again lol. Its only long when theres a hurricane or a tropical storm like Noel.

  • huge storm... nice video.

  • is this your vid?

  • This is not my video - my pictures and video of this severe thunderstorm can you see when you open google, an then you copy, paste and search in the mask of google "Hagelunwetter mit schwerem Sturm am 29.07.2005". The first result is the link to the pictures of the thunderstorm.

  • Das Video entstand am 29. Juli 2005 bei Starnberg in der Nähe von München. Es gab gebietsweise Hagelschlag bis 5 cm Korngröße.

  • Great video! Love the downburst part!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!! lightning!!!!!

  • wow. that is too extreme for me!!!

  • Nice capture. Very beautiful and exciting!

  • yeah bavaria always gets the bigass storms in germany^^every year it's the same xD

  • UN-FUCKING-BELEVEBLE!!

  • wow what a beautiful light show Mother Earth put on for ya'll

  • beautiful

  • Wow. That is amazing. Definatley the ingredients for a tornado. What was the temperature in dc and how much did it decrease?

You can actually see the torrential rain going horizontal. That is when you know it's pretty damn bad. I even heard the siren horns. Great lightning show.

  • Most of them are not tornadoes. The most are spouts. We don't have as many supercells as the US. But each year more and more supercells gettin' detected.

  • I love the windstorm! I live in the middle of a valley, so all around when there's wind damaging storms causing damage, there's just heavy rain and a slight breeze at our house. I guess that's a good thing sometimes.

  • I didn't realize there were tornadoes in Germany or the Continent. I thought they only struck here in North America. That being said, I have seen a few bad thunderstorms in Germany...

  • The tornados in germany are very rare and most of them are weak. I remember only one big tornado in summer 1968 when I was a child. It hit´s the city of Pforzheim and the damage was the same as I can see in the US stormchasers Videos. Think it was an F2 or F3.

  • the pforzheim tornado is F4 rated

  • Oh, sorry, I don´t know this before... Hmm, yes, I remeber the forrest in the way of the tornado, there where nothing left over more than a few feet lenght. The destruction was horrible.

  • very interesting... sorry i have been very busy with school, fall tornado season interest and work! If you have any questions, please send me a message, I might miss you if you ask through the comments!

    Cheers!

  • Great video...I love microbursts/downbursts. They can be so extreme, localized, and unpredictable.

  • Awsome video.

  • ah war in österreich ja freili

    die leberkassemmel san guat

  • man, I wish someone could've had footage of the Hurricane Katrina supercell. That was such a thing of beauty from the ground, look it up on Google. But this is amazing!

  • The pictures of the supposed Hurricane Katrina supercell that were going around as a forwarded email were actually photos that storm chaser Mike H. made in Nebraska and Kansas in 2002 and 2004. You can read more about that on the snopes website.

  • Incredible Spider Lightning at the end! I live in North Texas and chase these things every spring, thanks for the vid.

  • i got one thang srry im going try say this nocest possible YOU IDOIt srry why drive INTO A SEVER THUNDERSTORM!111 srry

  • For science and the chance to see mother nature at her baddest.

  • LOL like fire works show at end i love tornadoes and thunder storms

  • love the way the scud/wall looks with the lightning behind it. Good stuff, thanks for sharing :D

  • almost looks like hurricane weather in the beginning

  • lol,im so happy to live in Sweden where nothing happens,no war, tornados, supercells or tsunamis...thins like that seems terrible..

  • No tornados in Sweden... But strömming!

  • Looks like it was in the south of Germany...

  • wow lightning at the end looks amazing.O.O

  • Where was this storm located?

  • According to the radar image at the beginning of the clip the center of the storm was in the region north of Garmisch-Partenkirchen up to Weilheim, Southern Bavaria, assumedly 47° 30' N, 11° E.

  • Excellent footage of the horizontal funnel. Illustrates what occurs above the clouds normally out of view how a tornado is actually birthed.

  • Very very interesting

  • Thank you for the response. Appreciate it.

I guess some of us have the thrill to drive in the heart of these storms while others seek cover when warnings are issued. But let us not forget, we know what we are doing, and seek cover too when the situation becomes hazardous.

  • good video, I would flip if I was in that storm! O.O

  • i am...sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad to live in the UK, i suffer from astrophobia...SEVERELY (fear of lightning and thunder (mainly thunder)), everytime i see rain when its been a hot day generally i get SHIT scared even if i don't hear anythin, ironically comapred to US storms, UK storms are pathetic but to me no storm is "pathetic". But to be honest if I was caught in this, unless I was in an open area like you guys were the lightning would be the least of my worries

  • Klasse Aufnahmen vom Regensturm!

  • v.good,bravo!!
