I believe it is a coping mechanism, because if guys knew how to interact with women, the importance of masturbation as a tool to relieve sexual tension and lack of physical and emotional intimacy with women (I'm not speaking sexually, but touch, kissing, hugging, etc), would be more or less obsolete.

What does this mean for guys? It means it is a whole lot harder finding love, finding the "right" girl, etc and so forth. There are no guarantees in the romantic world, women don't owe you anything and they have the right to reject you at any point if they aren't interested in you (which is understandable). It isn't as easy to get a wife as in Biblical times.

Of course, he would have to be thinking only about her while he does it. He would not be coveting, because she is his wife.
