  • Secondly, the ways in which many fish farms operate can do damage to the fish and the condition of the ocean water. Many farms mistreat the their fishes. (They often farm way more than what they are going to sell so that they have more selection of fishes to choose from and sell) The ugly and wounded fishes that are safe to eat but not visually appealing are thrown into the tank or the net cage for the other fishes to eat.

  • Do you even know what farm raised fish are fed ?

All this talk of sustainable fishing, i gillnet and have been for over 15 years though i have not seen ANY decreases in the populations of fish my fishery is still deemed in sustainable and im being regulated to extinction !!! LINE CAUGHT fish, where i fish it is illegal for me to use a hook and line to comm. fish, why because it is safe and people do not wish for us to revert to hook and line for it is eco friendly and will be harder to ban us !

  • why would farmed be worse than wild?

  • well, I'm not a professional but I know this much. First of all, fish farms contaminate the ocean water by over farming many fishes. Their waste and decomposition of the remains of dead fishes and fish food can create algal bloom that depleates the oxygen in the ocean water. And this oxygen is needed by many fishes and aquatic ecosystem. Algal blooms also blocks sunlight from reaching deep through the ocean floor. This can lead to deaths of many aquatic plants in the ocean floor.

If you have time please check out our channel too!

  • see food! busted out at that one.

  • Great video, thanks Umbra!

I watched a great documentary recently called "Sharkwater" that really opened my eyes to the pathetic, wasteful, and socially irresponsible practice of shark finning. As shark populations plummet, manta rays are next on restaurant menus.

Other good flicks to check out are:

    1) The Cove

    2) A Sea Change

    3) The End of the Line

  • good, TY! I made my meat-eating husband watch :)

  • your cats eat lots of meat anyway, you worthless hypocrite!
