  • Amen! I could not agree more.

  • Love This Video!!! You look amazing!!!!!! :)

  • I digest broccoli and asparagus just fine after my rny.

  • I met a woman who has had 3 surgeries....she gained it back each time. I also met another woman who had 2 - and now weighs 300+ pounds again. People dont get that this isnt the cure all....its cliche to say, but its a TOOL through and through. And unfortunately some DRs make people think its the cure all and that the surgery is going to do all the work. Its 80% a mind game....a reduced stomach size just helps us to get on track while we sort out our heads and retrain ourselves.

  • @Kellawanda I Completely agree! That is the whole reason why it took me so long to actually make the "commitment" to this new life. It takes a complete head change. BTW Thank you for all of your awesome and inspiring videos!

  • @jillmbooth just didnt follow the rules.

  • @jillmbooth - honey, trust me when I say I was in no means including those like yourself who were never given the opportunity to actually start over, I would be sooo angry if that had happened to me. I am sorry you are going through that. I hope you keep strong through this and hopefully u can lose the weight on ur own since you can get ur surgery redone. That's terrible. I wish you all the best! :) i don't believe Carnie had this same issue though because she did lose a ton of weight she...

  • Very well said!

  • My rny failed me. Or possibly my dr failed me. My stoma was mad THREE times the normal stoma size. normal is 10 mm and mine is 30mm. I have in essence, one large stomach...a pouch that leads directly to my intestines. The food simply wont say in. My pouch is still tiny. Insurance only allows ONE lifetime surgery. So I'm stuck with a failed rny. I didn't fail it. I did what I was supposed to. Some people do have mechanical malfunctions.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. Amen sister...

  • These are tools that need to be worked, they dont do they work. For any one, we need to learn about our bodies, nutrition and excercise for a successful healthy lifestyle.

  • ur so pretty and you don't look like you've ever been bigger....do you have any loose skin? If so will you or have you already done a video regarding your experience with loose skin? I am pre-op for the surgery and I feel bad for saying this all things considered; but I am worried about loose skin.

  • Really good thoughts you shared. I'm 14.5 months post...lost 187 (181 within 12 months) It's really tough to hear "the tool failed or someone had rny and they gained all the weight back". So glad you called it like it is...we let ourselves down not the tool. It's a journey about learning and changing who we used to be..that's the only way to win. Thanks again for sharing!

  • Very well said, Steph!

I know that once I get my DS, I will never blame my DS if I fail!!

    You inspire newbies like me!!

    Hugs to You!

  • I am a lapband patient nearly 3 years post op and I agree with you. My husband is 9 years post op RNY and he agrees with you. it does not matter what surgery you had, it matters how you change your life. thanks for sharing!

  • YES!! Yes, I totally agree! THANK YOU for speaking out against these people not taking responsibility for their own actions. When I first came on here looking for info, I saw all those videos, and i knew that I was their own fault for regaining, but there are probably some people who just don't get the mechanics of this surgery yet. Thanks for putting something out here so that others can see that this surgery is what YOU make of it! xoxo

  • Gastric bypass is not new it was invented back in 1965 by Dr Edward Mason. So you have some patients living today that are 30 or 40 years post op. Havent had the opportunity to meet one but would love to. Anyway great video you're so right it's only a tool it's absolutely not going to do you any good whatsoever if you don't follow the rules. Work your tool and it will work for you bottom line. Thanks for sharing hon.

  • which complications did you have with the surgery, or you didnt get complications ????

  • @macarari Hi hun, i had many. Basically, too long to explain in 423 characters, LOL so to try and sum it up, I have severe hypoglycemia but that came much later, right after gastric bypass, my heart rate was out of control so they took me in for an exploratory surgery, but i got sick from the anesthesia, aspirated into my lungs and when I woke up they told me I now had pneumonia. I was supposed to be in the hospital for 2 days but ended up staying 7 days, then 2 months later...(more)

  • @macarari (cont.) or wait...before that, about a month into post op, i couldn't keep anything down, not even water, i threw everything up. I had stenosis (closing of your pouch due to scar tissue), ended up having surgery for that (with an endoscopy - camera down my throat and they opened my pouch with a balloon thing) then two weeks later I got it again and had to have the surgery again, (more)..

  • @macarari I had severe pain at 2 month, thght it was gallbladder, but weren't sure and I STILL couldn't keep food or water down, so they took me in for surgery, they probed through all my intestines looking 4 a hernia, did an endoscopy again while I was under and took my gallbladder out. Two weeks later the pain came back - it was kidney stones the whole time. I've had kidney stones 6 times in 2 years and never had them b4, I've had a total of 4 endoscopies... LOL...

  • @macarari but overall, it was still worth it. :)

  • @RNYSteph LOL I had my surgery on January 17, I just pray every day that I don't get complications...

  • sigh, poor Carnie Wilson! people use her as an excuse so much to show that WLS is ineffective, or whatever. But you're so right, she failed her RNY, not the other way around. So many people need to take responsibility for their actions--make better choices and be prepared to live with the decisions that they do make!

  • @NewMamaMia I absolutely agree. You know, that's not to say that people CANT fail after gastric bypass, but that's why you are prepared BEFORE having the surgery, you go through hoops to get it for a reason because it's very dangerous for someone to stretch their pouch after gastric bypass.

  • LOL! Just realized i say "connie wilson" twice, not sure how I managed to do that when I knew her name was Carnie, LOL! OOPS! I was so frustrated with what I had saw I couldn't even get her name right. haha
