This game is second to the Sharks and Red Wings game a few years ago when Marleau and Michalek had those two breakaway goals. But definitely the game of the year...I think Eager's goal was included in the top 10 goals of the year, or top 5. For one play Torrey turned dangler, where did that come from?

I have been watching many "goals of the year" for this season and neither Eager's nor Mitchell's were on there. I am a dedicated Sharks fan so I think one of them should be up there, but do you guys agree? I think Mitchell's should be because it tied the best team in the league with 2 minutes left in the game (plus it's obvious greatness) and I could see Eager's 6-0 nothing goal not making a list (although it was incredible) but not nearly as important.

I don't even care that we lost that game. That was AMAZING! I don't care what you say. Anyway it's all about the playoffs. I don't see what everyone hates on the Sharks for not winning the Stanley Cup when the Canucks haunt either and they have been in the league WAY longer.

Amazing. As a Sharks fan, I'll take the point... to play like this against the best team in the league really says something about these guy's will to win after a crap first half of the season. SJS has to do something about their PP though... :(

@nickdawg13 Not always. Playing the body, fighting out of the corners and drawing penalties wear down opponents much more than unimaginitave, open shots from the point. They are playing better (with the exception of this bomb), but for that first half of the season they could have 50 SOG and not one of them had a chance.

We need to win, see... and the other teams can help out by losing. CHI has 84 points and a game in hand. You think that's not important? I get divisional importance, but do yourself a favor and go to NHL's site and look at how close the playoff race is overall.

This game is THE EXAMPLE Why shootouts need to go and just play continuous overtime until there's a winner.

This Game of the Year personified and epitomized the word DRAMA!

I don't think the 17,500 at the tank would have minded staying late for a game like that to have a decisive winner.

@BigJonAllred I agree man shootouts are such bullshit. All they do is ruin the end of the game. Its a poor excuse of a decision to end a game. Altho I disagree with the continuous OT part. Continuous OT should only be for the playoffs, you dont want to the players getting dead tired while the season is still going on. I think having a tie would be just fine. Hell if my Sharks won the shootout I'd take it but I still think its dumb. But the Sharks should've won they dominated the game.

@BigJonAllred The reason they don't do continuous overtime is about half for the fans, half for the players. If a game's time is limitless, it will tire the players out much more. What if a game goes to 5OT and at least one of the teams has a game the next day? They will probably be too sore to play to the best of their abilities and the more rested team wins easily and that takes away from the game. They do unlimited OT with playoffs because the best teams can handle it.

@90Chubbs It was a hell of a game my friend. I don't count it as a loss for the Sharks because they lost in the shootout. It will be fun to see who gets that overtime goal if they meet in the playoffs.
