From Wikipedia: Ear candling, also called ear coning or thermal-auricular therapy, is an alternative medicine practice claimed to improve general health and well-being by lighting one end of a hollow candle and placing the other end in the ear canal. According to medical researchers, it is both dangerous and ineffective.[2] Claims that the practice removes earwax are not supported by any evidence.
FDA has found no valid scientific evidence to support the safety or effectiveness of these devices for any medical claims or benefits. FDA has received reports of burns, perforated eardrums and blockage of the ear canal which required outpatient surgery from the use of ear candles.
I'm surprised people still aren't using leeches to cure the common cold honestly...
"Now you've said my name. I don't want to be on youtube!"
OMG your name is CARRIE!? THE carrie!? now I know your adress and social security number! I'm going to tell all of your friends about this dirty youtube video!!!!!!!!!
This has been scientifically disproven. It does not use any properties of physics. It is a hoax. If it really worked giant pharmacuetical companies would selling ear candles and Dr's all over the world would recommend this to all of their patients for a big fee.
Actually is does use physics properties. Fire requires air, and when a cylinder is lit, fire draw air from all around. The air drawn from the ear creates a slight suction that removes wax over time.
Ear candling is a scam. The "wax" is just leftover from the candle melting and running down the tube! It can seriously burn your ear canal and damage your hearing.

Try this simple experiment:
Take two "ear" candles. Light one in someone's ear and the other one on a table by itself. Compare the two when they're done burning.
Spoiler: They're identical! Because they don't actually do anything to the person's ear!

Nope. The wax is always "earwax color" no matter what color the ear candle is.
Plus you can feel the difference in your ears after. You've obviously never tried it.

@jm2trash Tried it, eh? How about the videos of one in the ear and another in a bottle, and BOTH having the same exact amount and color of residue?
