It's a doberman puppy. They're born with the usual floppy dog ears, but dobermans are docked and their ears bound & tied so when they heal, they stand up.

Back in the days of old when they were used as sentries, it was to help them hear better. Beats the hell outta me why it's still done now-a-days.
