Best place I ever lived! I didn't say the nicest I said the Best. Head down into pannamint valley. hang a left on black top road go down 1/2 mile pull over and rock hound. Found all kinds of things plus jem stones. Gold too! bring lots of water and take a deep breath.
people here need to download the podcast "Comedy Death Ray Radio." They have an occasional character named Huell Howser. I had never heard of him before listening to the podcast, but now that I watch these clips, it's pure gold. Just hysterical.
Trona is a pretty cool place. I got really lost on my way to northern california in 06 and ended up there. The town came off as really creepy at first. The sign said that there was a population of like 1800 but for many hours I literally never saw one living person. Finally I ran into someone who gave me directions and told me a story about the history of the town and the Trona Pinnacles. He even invited me to his church. Nice guy.
lived 2 miles from entrance! right behind mountain in end. Niki run up it for track. 120 in shade. loved it still regret leaving. the back way into death valley park and a fast way to beatty NV for casino. LA was just 2,5 hours away.
Never seen this one, I'm gonna make sure I see next time it comes on, or I might just order it....Cali is full of things to do and see, best state in the Union
This guy is a great host for a great show. I like the way he explains things. He also makes it sound like a weekend drive to some cool place in California can be fun without the expense of some major trip far-away. Lots of stuff to see in California within a few hours drive which makes this guys show so much fun to watch. Gotta love the history too...
Specifically you're closer to Trona than you are to Ridgecrest!!! Also although the Pinnacles are right next to Searles Dry Lake, there is water on that "dry" lake due to chemical plant located there!
he musta ate a cactus bud of some sort. tripping balls
