dsl is the only iso i put as backup on my ipod (storage that is) if my mac ever dies or i need to use a linux product I can pop this baby in,run on virtual box and boom linux :D. It's good if you don't any blank cds (it happened with me one time) now if I can find some softwares for it :D

i actually thought damn, this is small if it looks like this!

then with my old ibm, I couldnt install dsl from the boot menu with a usb drive because the bios is old. So I just installed it to my hard drive via unetbootin ...Looks like DSL should look like, video is still a little week but whatever, its free and its awesome but I cant watch videos on it..

I'm using xubuntu now, but its SOOOO buggy. Ill just put xfce on fedora once the 5 cd installer finishes. After getting used to fedora and getting comfortable working in the terminal fedora is soo much better than ubuntu. Besides, yum and rpm are sooooo much nicer than aptitude.

very informative, I plan to install on my 233Mhz PII machine with 96MB RAM but no CD. I plan to take out the HD onto my desktop and from there run DSL, how shall I install HD that will be attached to USB port for maximal speed when I install the HD back to the laptop? Hope make sense.

this will copy the cd into memory allowing the computer to read and write data quicker than if you just run it from the cd

DSL does NOT run slow--you were right, your system sucks. DSL is only 50MB in size and is BLAZING FAST on any given number of systems. Don't misrepresent the OS--just state the amount of ram and hardisk space you are using and let viewers judge for themselves.

or you coul try clicking on the file(s) to be copied and then ctrl+c tocopy and ctrl+v to paste in the destination directory

Its not slow, you are running it off a flash drive, and within windows too boot. It is small enough to run in RAM.

There is a better alternative to DSL, it is quite new, it is smaller, and it looks better, not to mention that it includes more packages and it is more user friendly.

It is called SliTaz, also a Linux Distro, i dont think it is as popular though.
