Well, it is certainly capable of being driven like that due to BMW's incredible design abilities and manufacturing techniques. But to say it is made for drifting despite being one of the most meticulously built cars on the planet is a matter of opinion. Taking it out & stretching it's legs is the way to enjoy the whole package of a BMW M3. Wanna drift? Get a rice burner that you can add HP cheaply and replace easily. How many drift laps before this BMW is toast? Would U buy it after many laps?

let me tell you what a drift car needs to be, first a rear wheel drive with the engine in front of the car, it needs a 1.5 or 2way differential, needs stiff suspensions and anti roll bars to limit the body roll, needs between 250 and 450hp depending on the cars weight and the course, and needs some good rims/tires BUT NOT SLICK/RACING... roll cage is a + , why not an M3? race car only means they have racing tires and thats whats wrong about it, put some street legal sports tire and there you go

@HPISAVAGE11 wrong, you can drift awd cars that actually have the torque necessary to overcome an advanced awd traction system. this would fall on the lancer evo, though barely, and the sti, which is amazingly fun to drive

however, if you take something like a bmw 330xi, you can drift, but its only safe to do it wet IF you can control the car (the 335xi can drift, the extra torque does wonders)

Any cars that come in AWD stock are converted to RWD for drifting. clearly u have never driven a 335xi or else you would know how well it grips the road. this video shows a m3 which is RWD and has more torque than a 335xi. a 335xi can MABY slide in a wet surface but NEVER in a DRY surface

STis were made to go sideways THROUGH dirt. Not on dry pavement. RWD is the best for DRIFT, while cars like STis were designed for rally.
