What is cool about this plan is that one could make any size bookshelf with it. I can see that all I have to do is measure the space where it the bookshelf is to go and then adjust everything to that size. It might be better to include in the title what this is though. A tongue in groove bookshelf. The cool thing about this design is your not heaving around get clumsy panels on your table-saw that can be wrecked easily. One does much less damage per mistake with this plan.
I like those frames for supporting the whole bookshelf and the little frames for each whelves too! I hate when those little things turn over or fall off and the shelves falls down with all the books too!
People at HomeDepot would help to cut the timbers, they are so nice people!
Ok. These guys know what they are doing but.... first of all they are two people not one and I would like to learn how to build my own bookshelf by my self. But anyway, this vide is very useful to me and after wathing the final product, i looked to my simple bookshelf bought froom a store and I think is gonna fall on me at any time or the books will drop the shelf down! these guys are teaching a sturdy bookshelf but they go too fast!
Come on lads, you never gave one single measurement, angle or drill size, how the hell are we supposed to learn anything credible from that?. It was like, "Ok, that's the wheel done, whilst you are working it out, we'll build the rest of the space shuttle, and take you through it in 4 minutes later".
I would've used pocket screws on the inside of the frames to hide the screw heads and give it a nicer finished look, but what you did is great for a simple, quick shelf.
@matthewm04 nice try....but a real wood worker would never buy anything at ikea...ikea is OK for the general public ....and junk for the wood workers...so you are in the wrong place ....
@zackthewiseguy86 I googled this show and the two hosts and there was absolutely nothing about it or them. There were only links to the same youtube videos. Maybe it was a very unpopular show in Australia or maybe it's a web-only show?
You won't learn much from this anyhow. No wonder proper craftsmen get accused of overcharging for fine work. This is pure DIY. Not much better than IKEA.

@ddtoots just went to home depot a 12ft costs around 11.50 probably cheaper at a real lumber yard, i'm tryin to make a 6ft tall one like this i think i will need 6 or 7 boards
Terrific guys! This was a great clip, especially the pacing, which is really crisp. If there was ome part I missed, or needed to see again, I just re-watched that part. I'll watch more of your videos for sure!
I really like this bookcase and would like to make it myself. Is there somewhere I can get a list or diagram of materials required and cuts to make for this project?

I'm just glad this isn't an expert village video, or I'd have six thousand more videos to watch before I would get past the introduction.
