It was horrible we never got to do anything all we did was static drill all night. They even left us at the airport because they didnt book flights to go gliding.
@JimHobbinator303 Im AIR, and personally its not that bad, I know a lot of army cadets to know that if you like GUNS join Army, if you like planes join AIR if you are a loser join SEA.
everone this may be amrica or candida or what ever country for were ever you live whos reading this it may be 13 BUT some are 12 like in australia so dont worry check before you get all sad about you not being able to cuz your 12 or turning 12 check before they may be wrong
At 2:30 CHOM (College Hall Officers Mess) at RAF Cranwell my first ever camp and the best one ever btw im Cadet Small from 1039 Gillingham SQD Merry Christmas everyone and btw CHOM best ever place to go if u wanna be a pilot :)
@seetaram24 not unless you do something really stupid or mess around during drill. You really should join the things we do would blow your mind. flying, shooting, sports, parades, visiting RAF bases and camping in Britain and abroad in Cyprus,Gibraltar and Germany, duke of ed, nijmagen (a 100 mile march over 4 days in Holland), and loads more.
@seetaram24 its quite a big commitment and if you want to do well you need to catch on quite quickly and show things like leadership and good uniform/ drill to get up the ranks. im only a cadet but want to be a pilot in the raf to be honest i dont like the drill and boring parts of it the uniform is ok to do but being told off over stupid stuff like not calling the corporal corporal and stuff its a bit silly but the activities are good like flying
I am soon looking foward to join my local RAF squadren, due to the fact i would love to be a fighter pilot and im guessing that if i join the cadets it'll boost my chances (abit). Anyway, im very active, run around 30 miles a week and go to the gym, i love motocross and i cant wait for the activities. However, theres one problem.. ive been watching videos and all i keep finding is everyones wearing blue shirts and trousers with polished shoes, how much of that do you actually have to do...?

@MarcusFITco Its not all "blues", but quite a bit is. You have to maintain ALL of your uniform YOURSELF to the highest standard. If you want to go far in the ATC you will need to be dedicated to it. One of the main ways to show dedication is through your uniform. It also shows self discipline, which a wannabe RAF fast jet pilot must have. Its sometimes a pain and it does take up hours of your time, however its worth it.
If you don't like the discipline in cadets then you wont like the RAF.
Well saying what squadron your from is just a sign of pride and i have a friend who joined like 5 months before his 13th, you can do most activities and get your uniform before you are 13 but to be fully enrolled you have to be 13, so you are then able to be insured for doing things like camps, gliding, shooting etc.
@TokyozzFinest genuine advice from a Cadet Warrant Officer in the ATC, The ATC do most activities the ACF do, plus the flying and certain courses a, the international air cadet exchange pro gramme and RAF work experience courses. Whereas the ACF Appear to concentrate more on field craft and adventure training courses than the ATC do. Having never been in the ACF, but having several friends in, i think depending on the kind of person you are, both cadet forces are as good as one another :)
depends how well you do n what you get out of it,personally im first aid qualified, member of the drill and ceremonial fligh for the wing, and DofE,im planning to sign up for the ACLC when im 16 aling with gliding and flying scholerships

do air cadets do lots of sports. I am not really much of a sporty person

Not unless you want to usually. I was a cadet for about 3 years, loved every minute. People used to ask me what the difference between army cadets and air cadets is, my reply was always 'Air cadets do everything army cadets do, but we get to fly too!' Join!! You won't regret it!!!
