Two Bad Drag quads !!!

The comments on this thread crack me up. Obviously some of the comments are from people that have never seen ATV sand drag racing. Some of you don't have a fucking clue. If you think an extended front end is for looks, why don't you tell the tell the top fuel dragsters that ha ha ha! There has been a lot of r&d behind this sport, these bikes are running low 3.s in 100 yards @ over 100 mph and will soon be in the 2's! It's a rush for sure.

this is a very old video of my friends bike, it is a 7mm stock cylinder. if i remember right that pass was not on the spray, it made right around 110hp to the wheels on motor.

The chassis is +7 out back and +24 out front.

the rider is the builder of the bike and motor as well.

If the swing arm is extended as he said, and the front end is mostly stock as it gets traction all of the available weight is thrown to the back and the bike is not lifted to the wheelie bar where it loses some of the weight and traction that is on the back tires. @ForgottenBasilisk in the formula dragster the gas tank is between the two front wheels for weight, to keep the front end down. RDubya's point was that these guys had lengthened the front end, but didn't add any weight. I just love the high-tech race gear these guys are using!!!

extending the rear end works better but if u go too long u lose traction and need bigger tires = slower times. if u go with say a +8 rear end and +24 front end, you keep the traction and the long front end adds more weight out front keeping it down. you would need like a +16 swingarm which would be a little ridiculous to = the long front end

@RDubya146 why do dragster extend the front and not the back? The engine is almost over the rear wheels. Its for traction. If theres not weight on the rear tires, theyre just going to be spinning and not gripping.

@RDubya146 Youve got a real good point there, but i think the reason is traction. with the long front end, even with minimal weight, it creates somewhat of a ballast, allowing more weight to be subjected to the rear wheels, resulting in a harder launch.

@RDubya146 its all about weight transfer onto the rear tires. when the front is stretched, and the rear end is kept short, the front will lift and the weight from the far tip of the front end will transfer onto the rear tires and allow the bike to hook and get much better traction when compared to a bike with a long swingarm.

with a long swingarm, the weight is harder to lift and transfer the length of the swingarm to the tires.

@RDubya146 I don't know much about them, but I would assume that the extended front end provides a longer wheelbase, which would allow it to go in a straight line much better. Keeping the rear wheels as close as possible under the drivers ass would make for maximum weight on the rear tires, helping them to dig in for the most traction.

becuase in two stroke engines as soon as the intake port is opened nitrous will spray in, but as the piston moves a bit more it opens the exaust port so that, theres no point because it will just go in, then straight out. so it wont even fire with nitrous in the chamber so its not going to cool anything down, (which is the nitrous job.) so its pointless.

@drdollas Not exactly. you just made your self sound like a dumbass, No offense. heres some education. when the piston goes down after ignition the exhaust port is opened then the intake. The pipe is how the two stroke gets the power. After the combustion the soundwave travels the pipe creating a vacuum drawing the spent gas out and the fresh charge through the cylinder. when the soundwave hits the other end it bounces back pushing the unburned charge back into the cylinder.
