  • Would someone upload Big Shot? It's definitely their best song. I've tried to buy at their myspace page, but it doesn't work....you'd think they would WANT to sell stuff.

  • I saw them at Fitzgerald's in Houston 1984 on the same bill with the Del Lords. On New Years Day 1985 the famous rock critic a very early Springsteen follower and friend, Bob Claypool, said in his column, which included all concerts in the city that year, that this was his second favorite of the year. His favorite, The Boss and the Born in the USA tour. I had to agree. They were great. I still have a turquoise blue concert shirt of theirs.

  • @john9944 Thanks for sharing your memories John. Often the reason given why bands didn't get recognition is that they were too left field for the industry. That wasn't always the case though. Some bands did get critical support but still didn't make the big time. Maybe it wasn't just the industry's fault.

  • Love The White Animals, sure miss the days when they played live all the time. I have all the vinyl and found the best of ( 3000 night in Babalyon cd in bargin bin in Phoenix, Az where I live now. It was in mint condition. It was like I won the lottery. Thanks for posting the music.

  • I met them working at Discount Records in Nash. They played every week it seemed. I had begun to take them for granted when...

I moved to LA, and picked up the Weekly looking for my first LA club experience. They were playing the Club Lingerie on Sunset! I crashed their soundcheck, and was nicely added to the guest list. They played a great show to a full house. The Fur's R. Butler got turned away (no ID), and I sat next to J. Strummer at the bar (we tried to talk, too drunk).

    A Great Night.

  • Thanks for sharing your reminiscences. I Like stuff like that!

  • Thanks! You in Nash? Gotta million of 'em.

Love your avatar. I lost my Rat Fink off it's detachable ring playing with my first Frisbee. (63?) I made up for the loss with an autographed RF from Big Daddy at a Long Beach car show(86). His inker in the 90s got his proofs copied at Kinko's at Hick Holler Mall...By ME!

His stuff was Christian based surf monsters by then, pretty surreal.

There's a pretty good Big Daddy Doc. in the Movie section of YT.

  • I'm a million miles away from Nash - in New Zealand! Hick Holler Mall sounds like Hickory Hollers Tramp. The path was deep and wide... Love the rat fink but Ed is what???? Maybe don't go there. He's a true icon from back in the day. Amen. Love all that sick stuff.

  • Alas, Ed has achieved the speed of light.

    Actually it's Hickory Hollow Mall.

New Zealand! It's typical I'd find this music from so far away. There's a nicely goofy 5 part profile called Nashville New Wave 1983 from a Nashville News show.

Have you seen Government Cheese doing "Camping On Acid"? It'll appeal to the Big Ed in you!

This and more on my "Look out Ma..." playlist.

  • I have all their stuff on vinyl but have yet to be able to figure out how to convert to mp3. If anyone could post more songs would love to have them.

  • I think GLORIA was there best song.... so cool....

  • If you have MYSPACE you can get there music there...

  • Love this band. Takes me back to college days. I've been searching for eons for their best of CD, but it's long out of print and impossible to find. Have to be happy with my vinyl rips.

  • Saw them live in '89 at the Univ of Southern Miss. Terrific band! Recently purchased their Ecstasy cd from back in the day. Still good stuff!

  • This girl of mine, Gloria, Ecstasy, Gotta Move!!!!! Total rebate for this 42-year-old dad.

  • I play in a crappy 2 man band on the weekends...we sometimes play "this girl of mine" just to see if anyone notices. What a great song!!

  • They were a little more well known than some people think. Love their music (this is definitely not their best song!). I got to see them about 5 times when they reunited between 2000-2003.
