And I'll tell you what, many of these European bands are playing the darned stuff as good as it was played here in the states. I'd like to see this style of music played more on music radio stations...but I'm not holding my breath. There is a lot of 50's retro America that is popular in Europe right now. These people are dressing the way my grandpa used to dress as a teenager. Isn't about time to get your own youth culture and stop latching on to 50's American culture?
Hey I didn't know if you guys knew this or not but this video is about ROCKABILLY!!!!! Not stupid ass Saigon and whatnot......take your comments elsewhere
There were almost twice as many casualties in Southeast Asia (Vietnam and Cambodia) the first two years after the fall of Saigon in 1975 than there were during the ten years the U.S. was involved in Vietnam.
Few musical forms are as rooted in American culture as Rockabilly. It incorporates firstly Hillbilly Swing, itself rooted in Swing music, a jazz derivative. It also includes old time American country, American folk, gospel, and blues roots. The Confederacy ended in 1865... the Union won. Rockabilly music in *American* cultural music.
Pretty decent rockabilly. However, despite what a couple posters have said, Confederate battle flags are *not* a symbol of rockabilly music. Many Europeans think that flag is associated with Rockabilly culture, but in much of America it's often seen as a symbol of prejudice and hatred. Do you really want to convey those ideas? An American flag, however, would not be inappropriate.
@Parsa9 Many times, the Dixie Flag is used to represent Heritage, not hate. I've also seen it used in a rockabilly context. Yes, it can be controversial. The American flag is a good choice as well. However, unfortunately, both flags have been misused by extremists at various times.
@Parsa9 The American flag is not very well liked either. Many folks do not like America or Americans and I'm not talking about the Muslim extremists either. Americans are despised everywhere in the world. I think the confederate flag has less implications out of the states than the Ameican Flag has anywhere on the planet. Americans may think they are the greatest but that feeling is not shared by many.
@Statimtek We sent billions and billions of dollars to fight poverty and AIDS in Africa under President Bush's Anti-AIDS plan which was supported by Bono of U2, more then at any time in history. I guess some people are ungrateful and will bite the hand that feeds them. No matter how many people we set free, no matter how many people we feed and provide with clean drinking water, no matter how many of our soldiers shed their blood fighting and dying for the safety and security of other nations.
@STRUTTER777U What you say is true however it was the Bush administration that turned everyone against America, with his arrogance and attitude." We are the most powerful nation in the world you will do what we tell you" Wake up dude the U.S' popularity is way, way down globally. I wonder way that is? (see above)
@Statimtek The current prez is trying to tell Egypt what to do, so I guess you see him as arrogant as well. He doesn't listen to the American people either, for that matter. Probably the most elitist president ever. Even so, America does a lot of good in the world. And as Lee Greenwood says, "The Flag still stands for freedom, and they can't take that away."
@STRUTTER777U Compare other current leaders of countries ie: Angela Merckl, Nicholas Sarkozy, Cameron, you dont see them go into another country and try to bully them into getting what they want. Your quote proves my point.Americans wave the flag in everyones faces and other nations of the world are tired of being bullied and being expected to cow down to the U.S.A. Oh and before anyone sends me a nastygram saying Im a hater. This is not my opinion. This is fact. Open your eyes, listen.
@Statimtek We shouldn't be concerned about what others think. What is right is not always popular, and what is popular is not always right. A lot of it is petty jealousy on the part of other nations. Our enemies hate us, because they can't BE like us. If a nation is Anti-American, screw 'em. If they don't like it, tough stuff.
America is a great nation and that is what really counts.
@STRUTTER777U Thats exactly the attitude that that put America where it is. George W had that attitude and thats what pissed everyone off. You cant go around saying others want to be like us. They dont. And you cant say if they dont like it then screw them. That is the arrogance others hate so much. The U.S is only great Americans.Dont think everyone thinks the same way you do.You should be concerned by the way others think. The U.S is no more or no less than any other country on this planet
@Statimtek He had the right attitude, which every American President should have! It's called Cowboy Diplomacy! It defeated the Taliban, Saddam Hussein, and the head of Al Qaeda in Iraq. France didn't like it, but they couldn't stop America from attacking the terrorists, now could they? They can whine and moan, but none of that is going to change what happened. They can just get used to it, because America does not owe them anything. Let them mope about if they want. Boo-freakin'-Hoo.
@Phr0zenFire That is the most ignorant statement I have ever seen. You sound like a hippie who did too much Acid in the 60's, having a flashback. So U.S. wartime Presidents like J.F.K. and Obama are terrorists, worse then Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini and Pol Pot? J.F.K. was fighting Communism and was shot by a Communist. Obama is leading America in wars against Islamists. That doesn't make them terrorists. You're just another Anti-American freak with extremist views.
@STRUTTER777U Yes, the USA has quite the tradition of stomping shit into the ground in order to assure its supremacy. The made-up claims of Iraqi WMD are a perfect example of a rather flimsy justification for the terrorist agenda of the USA, we won't even speak of Vietnam. It doesn't matter whether it's done by a state or some extremist religious group; terrorism is terrorism (of course, some believe that being a state magically gives rights, somehow).
@Phr0zenFire So fighting terrorism is terrorism? There is no question Saddam Hussein was a genocidal totalitarian arch-terrorist who funded Hamas, etc. and who attacked 5 nations. Obviously he had chemical weapons at on point because he USED THEM against his own people and against foreign troops. Multiple major intelligence agencies believed he had them, including British and Jordanian intelligence, and of course U.S. intelligence. You won't speak of Vietnam because we were fighting Communists.
@STRUTTER777U "Fighting the communists" What a brilliant fucking reason to slaughter countless people and fuck over a whole country (using chemical agents)! When the US invaded in 2003, none were found, and the connections haven't been proven, either, and hey, just how many times will the USA break international law?
@Phr0zenFire Hundreds of chemical weapons were ound, by Polish and U.S. troops, but just not in the quantities we expected, not the huge stockpiles, but the Iraq Studies Group found that Saddam had the capabilit to completely rebuild his wmd program. The point is, we believed they had them, because he used them, and many nations said he had them. You think J.F.K. was lying when he said there were Communists in Viet Nam? After we left, there was a bloodbath by the Communists way more people died.
@STRUTTER777U You are aware that Bono from U2 is irish right?? And you speak of American soldoers as if they are the only ones out there"shedding blood" there are other nations fighting aswell, also your troops have killed many allied troops under freindly, so eager to gain a small victory that they dont even look to see who theyre firing at! Plus, and I say this in regard to every soldier in every involved nation, this isnt wwII soldiers arnt forced to fight its their choice they know the risks
@whoface01 Of course he is from Ireland, the point is he was in favor of President Bush's Anti-AIDS plan which did more for Africa then at any time in history. It does not matter what country he was from, the point is he supported what America did to fight poverty and AIDS in Africa under President Bush.
@STRUTTER777U Point well made and understood, but he wasnt just supporting Americas anti AIDS plan he was supporting the cause worldwide and was in favour of the overall aims and goals for every anti AIDS plan out there, so I dont realy think you can use the fact bono supported Americas plan to support your argument because he supported them all.
@whoface01 The point is America sent billions and billions to Africa to fight AIDS and President Bush did more for Africa and to fight poverty and AIDS in Africa then any individual or president in history. Bono met with President Bush is person and stated that he supported the Bush plan to fight AIDS, even though some AIDS advocates ironically did not. Bono stated that millions of Africans owe their lives to America due to the medications we sent. He may support others, I understand that.
@STRUTTER777U Well when your right your right, im man enough to start an argument, im man enough to admit when ive lost. I didnt know that bono met Bush in person so thats my bad. But I stand by the fact that there are some Americans not by any means all, not by any means you, that have a terrible attitude towards world politics that change the way other nations look at USA for the worst. And im not anti-American at all. Just people need to drop the"USA fuck yeah-ism"(stolen from another comment
@whoface01 Thank you. I value other countries also. I have been to Europe, the UK, and South America and I have seen what other places have to offer the world. However, I also believe that America has done good things in the world. Rockabilly comes from America, so that's one good thing already! :)
@STRUTTER777U Oh definatly! America has done plenty good in the world, and its nice to hear that you have travelled so you have more fuel for an educated argument such as this. And yeah I live for rockabilly, hopefully flying out to vegas for the rockabilly weekender this year :)
@whoface01 Cool! I love Rockabilly and Rock'n'Roll. I've seen the Road Kings, The Hubcaps, The Dead Cricketts, not to mention Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, The Comets,The Coasters, and the Drifters.
Back in high school in the 90's I saw a bunch of teens trying to be greasers and rockabillies and we would make fun of them and pretty much tear them apart. "be there or be square" ROFL...... But that was 15yrs or so ago.
Hate that bit at the beginning... you should take it out...almost missed this great music (I was just about to leave the page when the good stuff came on!) Fantastic R-billy

@Oliver927— Try flying a Nazi flag outside your house in Sweden and see what people call you.
Parsa9 1 year ago
@Parsa9 but thats not a Nazi flag :(
rhapsycho666 1 year ago
@Parsa9 I did that yesterday. People saluted me with their right arm raised high.
Doesn't make me less of a rockabilly. You live by a code. It's pathetic.
Oliver927 11 months ago
@Parsa9 Many times, the Dixie Flag is used to represent Heritage, not hate. I've also seen it used in a rockabilly context. Yes, it can be controversial. The American flag is a good choice as well. However, unfortunately, both flags have been misused by extremists at various times.
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago 16

STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U What you say is true however it was the Bush administration that turned everyone against America, with his arrogance and attitude." We are the most powerful nation in the world you will do what we tell you" Wake up dude the U.S' popularity is way, way down globally. I wonder way that is? (see above)
Statimtek 11 months ago
@Statimtek The current prez is trying to tell Egypt what to do, so I guess you see him as arrogant as well. He doesn't listen to the American people either, for that matter. Probably the most elitist president ever. Even so, America does a lot of good in the world. And as Lee Greenwood says, "The Flag still stands for freedom, and they can't take that away."
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U Compare other current leaders of countries ie: Angela Merckl, Nicholas Sarkozy, Cameron, you dont see them go into another country and try to bully them into getting what they want. Your quote proves my point.Americans wave the flag in everyones faces and other nations of the world are tired of being bullied and being expected to cow down to the U.S.A. Oh and before anyone sends me a nastygram saying Im a hater. This is not my opinion. This is fact. Open your eyes, listen.
Statimtek 11 months ago
@Statimtek We shouldn't be concerned about what others think. What is right is not always popular, and what is popular is not always right. A lot of it is petty jealousy on the part of other nations. Our enemies hate us, because they can't BE like us. If a nation is Anti-American, screw 'em. If they don't like it, tough stuff.
America is a great nation and that is what really counts.
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U Thats exactly the attitude that that put America where it is. George W had that attitude and thats what pissed everyone off. You cant go around saying others want to be like us. They dont. And you cant say if they dont like it then screw them. That is the arrogance others hate so much. The U.S is only great Americans.Dont think everyone thinks the same way you do.You should be concerned by the way others think. The U.S is no more or no less than any other country on this planet
Statimtek 11 months ago
@Statimtek He had the right attitude, which every American President should have! It's called Cowboy Diplomacy! It defeated the Taliban, Saddam Hussein, and the head of Al Qaeda in Iraq. France didn't like it, but they couldn't stop America from attacking the terrorists, now could they? They can whine and moan, but none of that is going to change what happened. They can just get used to it, because America does not owe them anything. Let them mope about if they want. Boo-freakin'-Hoo.
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U The USA itself is the worst terrorist the world has ever seen.
I recommend you read some Noam Chomsky and drop the "America, Fuck Yeah"ism.
Phr0zenFire 11 months ago
@Phr0zenFire That is the most ignorant statement I have ever seen. You sound like a hippie who did too much Acid in the 60's, having a flashback. So U.S. wartime Presidents like J.F.K. and Obama are terrorists, worse then Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini and Pol Pot? J.F.K. was fighting Communism and was shot by a Communist. Obama is leading America in wars against Islamists. That doesn't make them terrorists. You're just another Anti-American freak with extremist views.
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U Yes, the USA has quite the tradition of stomping shit into the ground in order to assure its supremacy. The made-up claims of Iraqi WMD are a perfect example of a rather flimsy justification for the terrorist agenda of the USA, we won't even speak of Vietnam. It doesn't matter whether it's done by a state or some extremist religious group; terrorism is terrorism (of course, some believe that being a state magically gives rights, somehow).
Phr0zenFire 11 months ago
@Phr0zenFire So fighting terrorism is terrorism? There is no question Saddam Hussein was a genocidal totalitarian arch-terrorist who funded Hamas, etc. and who attacked 5 nations. Obviously he had chemical weapons at on point because he USED THEM against his own people and against foreign troops. Multiple major intelligence agencies believed he had them, including British and Jordanian intelligence, and of course U.S. intelligence. You won't speak of Vietnam because we were fighting Communists.
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U "Fighting the communists" What a brilliant fucking reason to slaughter countless people and fuck over a whole country (using chemical agents)! When the US invaded in 2003, none were found, and the connections haven't been proven, either, and hey, just how many times will the USA break international law?
Phr0zenFire 11 months ago
@Phr0zenFire Hundreds of chemical weapons were ound, by Polish and U.S. troops, but just not in the quantities we expected, not the huge stockpiles, but the Iraq Studies Group found that Saddam had the capabilit to completely rebuild his wmd program. The point is, we believed they had them, because he used them, and many nations said he had them. You think J.F.K. was lying when he said there were Communists in Viet Nam? After we left, there was a bloodbath by the Communists way more people died.
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U You are aware that Bono from U2 is irish right?? And you speak of American soldoers as if they are the only ones out there"shedding blood" there are other nations fighting aswell, also your troops have killed many allied troops under freindly, so eager to gain a small victory that they dont even look to see who theyre firing at! Plus, and I say this in regard to every soldier in every involved nation, this isnt wwII soldiers arnt forced to fight its their choice they know the risks
whoface01 11 months ago
@whoface01 Of course he is from Ireland, the point is he was in favor of President Bush's Anti-AIDS plan which did more for Africa then at any time in history. It does not matter what country he was from, the point is he supported what America did to fight poverty and AIDS in Africa under President Bush.
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U Point well made and understood, but he wasnt just supporting Americas anti AIDS plan he was supporting the cause worldwide and was in favour of the overall aims and goals for every anti AIDS plan out there, so I dont realy think you can use the fact bono supported Americas plan to support your argument because he supported them all.
whoface01 11 months ago
@whoface01 The point is America sent billions and billions to Africa to fight AIDS and President Bush did more for Africa and to fight poverty and AIDS in Africa then any individual or president in history. Bono met with President Bush is person and stated that he supported the Bush plan to fight AIDS, even though some AIDS advocates ironically did not. Bono stated that millions of Africans owe their lives to America due to the medications we sent. He may support others, I understand that.
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U Well when your right your right, im man enough to start an argument, im man enough to admit when ive lost. I didnt know that bono met Bush in person so thats my bad. But I stand by the fact that there are some Americans not by any means all, not by any means you, that have a terrible attitude towards world politics that change the way other nations look at USA for the worst. And im not anti-American at all. Just people need to drop the"USA fuck yeah-ism"(stolen from another comment
whoface01 11 months ago
@whoface01 Thank you. I value other countries also. I have been to Europe, the UK, and South America and I have seen what other places have to offer the world. However, I also believe that America has done good things in the world. Rockabilly comes from America, so that's one good thing already! :)
STRUTTER777U 11 months ago
@STRUTTER777U Oh definatly! America has done plenty good in the world, and its nice to hear that you have travelled so you have more fuel for an educated argument such as this. And yeah I live for rockabilly, hopefully flying out to vegas for the rockabilly weekender this year :)
