I know someone who is FANTASTIC at guitar he truly is something else and he rates high end squiers he loves Em and cherishes his he is beyond good at guitar and he loves them I dunno why :p
nice guitar you got lucky. i know a dude who unboxed his new epiphone les paul only to find that it had broken headstock. sent it back and recieved another one w/ broken headstock. but, the 3rd time was the charmer lol.i personally own a korean epiphone dot which i bought new and love it. no issues with it. and, dont knock squiers, the classic vibe and standard series are well worth the money for value and playablity and you can hop them up as you go along later.
@davedoggy ... yep - i had heard about the broken headstocks as well - so far so good with my epi... i've had it for nearly a year now with 0 issues... Yeah, i think squires are okay for a beginner, but i wouldn't recommend an intermediate player purchase a squier. That is all.
@timothyga01 ... sorry - they have exclusions... for whatever reason they have these 15% off sales... they exclude anything you'd want... something else you could explore though is financing... all reputable dealers offer 0% financing... as long as you make the required minimum payment and complete the payments within 6, 12, or 18 months...
this is my first electric but I've played acoustic for a while
My budget is 500$ My current set up thought is Ephiphone Les Paul $300
line 6 spyder 15w $99 case: $71 Wire: $12that makes $490 so the rest I figure for strings, cleaning equipment like string cleaner. Then a little later, get effects. I was also looking at strats but can only get squier strats which are like $250 at most which gives me room for effects andmaybe a better amp so HELP
I have a couple of recommendations for you since you are working on a budget.
1 - avoid the squire strat - squires are not as good of copies as epiphones... also avoid Peavey (peavey does make a decent amp though)
2 - you may be able to save money by asking the dealer if they can throw in a 15w practice amp... it probably won't be a line 6, but it will hold you over
3 - or maybe a gig bag - it won't be a hardshell case but it could hold you over - it never hurts to ask
4 - something you might want to do is look in the stores to see what you like... get a feel for the epi LP - THEN buy it online... google "musician's friend" and "sam ash" - both fully reputable dealers and NEITHER charges sales tax OR shipping. you can save a few bucks that way.
5 - when buying online - google a website called "retailmenot" - it is a coupon code website. I got $50 off this guitar when i bought it by finding a coupon code that worked for guitarcenter's websit
6 - hold off for now on what you can purchase later... if you go to a store and buy, but they won't budge on a free amp or a gig bag (or wire for that matter)... hold off on the case and buy a $15 guitar stand. If you're not going to any gigs you won't need a case until you travel... you also won't need string cleaner/polish for the first month or 2... hold off
i hope some of this was helpful... just remember to have FUN - it's supposed to be exciting, not daunting.
@HutchDano590 ... he's a weimaraner - 2 & 1/2 yrs old... i've posted some other videos of him playing if you want to see him in action... very energetic
@adrock1011 Do these guitars come with an Authenticity certificate or something , Like if I order it from Guitar Center , I know its a very stupid question but im really scared with those Gibson and Epiphone chinese ilegal copies, I dont want to own some load of chinese crap.
@Macsk8ing ... yeah - you have to be careful when shopping around... but a reputable dealer (guitar center) will not send you a phony guitar. I don't remember a cert fo authenticity, but there was a registration card... and all of these guitars come with a ID #.... this number can verify the guitar as authentic. I would say that this guitar retails for $550 - if you find one for $300, be skeptical. If it sounds too good to be true - it probably is
@MASNDizzle Awesome!!! - i was very very close to getting the trans blue... it's truly beautiful... I actually went and got graphite coated strings... Which helps cut down on fret buzz... Enjoy your guitar... it is an awesome instrument and i have been finding it to be very very versitile... i posted a little 10 second bluesy snippet... more to come...
I had heard the same issue... I also heard tuners were another issue involving this guitar... and Epiphone heard those complaints and took steps to correct them.
1. The newer models have a toggle switch which has been stablized - as a result, i have had no problems with the switch... it makes clean transitions and has excellent response.
2. To remedy the tuners, Epiphone has made grover tuners standard on lp standards and i only have to re-tune about once every other week.
In all honesty - if you are thinking about getting a new guitar - this is an excellent choice for the moderate player (and up). The guitar has incredible tone (i'm not even changing pickups), sustain is the best i've ever owned, playability/action is fantastic, there is 0 buzzing on the low end, and the thing just looks fantastic.
Mind you, the neck is fatter than a Fender style guitar (as are all gibson style guitars) A great all around guitar, for all styles, from jazz to metal
@adrock1011 thanks a lot, and sorry for the two comments, youtube posted my comment twice, anyway i guess i will change the pickups to wilkinsons pickups or seymour duncans, just to fit on my style thanks again!! :D
yeah - i've seen them go for slightly below retail on ebay. if you are going that way... i'd beware of pawn shops just looking to dump inventory... honestly, the best route - if you are financially strapped is to finance. all legit nationwide retailers (guitar center, musicians friend, sam ash) offer financing - if you can get a 12 or 18 month @ 0% interest, it could be a $35-$50/month payment. also! do a coupon code search on google - i got $50 off this guitar from retailmenot
I would be very cautious about buying this guitar for $100... It is $550 from pretty much every single legitimate retailer, both online and in-store.
Of course - i don't know your buying situation... just be cautious if its an online retailer offering an "epiphone STYLE les paul" - because i did see some sites offering that... the key word is "STYLE"... meaning the guitar is a cheap knock-off
did u buy it online??if u did, please tell me the website :) thanksssss
