madonna was,is and will still be on top of the pop music across the world. Through 80s,90s,20s there were whitney, mariah, celine, janet jackson, spice girls, britney, christina, rihanna, beyonce, kylie..all of these beautiful, talented women and girls,some of them has had shadowed madonna for a very short period of time, yet madonna isn't a quitter, her career become better than ever and in the mean time, some of the above female artists was over and got forgotten. It is still Madonna ruling.
We'll still seeing madonna in the next 10 to 20 years, but how about Lady gaga? Lady gaga is great, but there is no gurantee that she won't get obsoleted by a new, crazy,talented female artist just like rihanna replaced Beyonce, avril lavigne kicked out britney spears in the late 20s. The best were 1984 through 1989. Absolutely fantastic years. And I say this being a 90's teen (15 to 18 from 95 to 98. But even then the 80's were still cool to me and I loved the 80's. Madonna was cool enough to "return" for us 90's teens too because she was doing music videos like Ray of Light, Frozen, etc.

@philipthe1st - no worries, agree wish people would just praise their faves w/o having to trash another artist or compare. For all we know, Lady Gaga may do better than all when done. I don't mind admitting my first impression of Madonna all those years ago was "one hit wonder" ...boy was I wrong. Time will tell...cheers!

The Gaga/Madonna are crazy indeed. Madonna is iconic while Gaga's just hit the scene and has many more albums to sell before we can start talking about comparisons. For what it's worth however Gaga is the more talented of the two in that she plays several instruments and has a stronger voice.

Madonna is the voice of the 80's and MTV. Lady Gaga should bow to Madonna and thank her for creating pop music. In the 70's, there was rock but no "pop" culture. The 80's MTV and music scene, followed by the 90's, created pop music. So quite literally Lady Gaga would not exist if it wasn't for the success of Madonna. You guys weren't there to see how BIG Madonna was, they worshipped her like God. In the late 90's she made a comeback to "party" with late 90's teens, but her real success was 80's

@Sunrise262626 That is the God Truth. The 80's rocked and I was a kid in the 80's but I'm still proud to have been there, to have experienced it and lived through those years. The best were 1984 through 1989. Absolutely fantastic years. And I say this being a 90's teen (15 to 18 from 95 to 98. But even then the 80's were still cool to me and I loved the 80's. Madonna was cool enough to "return" for us 90's teens too because she was doing music videos like Ray of Light, Frozen, etc.
