I have to agree with one of the posts on here. All the dancers are wonderful but Solid Gold Dancers were the bumps and grinds done by Darcel, Pam, Gayle, Beverly and actually everybody...To show th technical side actually kinda killed the charisma....althought that grande deglage at 9:13 is wonderful.

On another note, do you know where one can download or find the files for the solid gold theme songs? I can only find one of them which was the mid 80's one, but can't find the earlier nor the last version.
@kziffle unfortunately the only one I know that is available is the season 6 version (the 2nd time Dione hosted). All others are just as they happened during the hows closing. Sorry.
I never really saw much of seasons 7 & 8 because by then I was in 3rd & 4th year of university and working, etc. with the changes and the loss of the familiar dancers I really didn't have a lot of reason to keep coming back. Now putting these posts together, I have really come to appreciate the talents that this group of dancers were. I liked the addition of the 3rd guy (I thought they should've kept 6 gals, totaling 9 dancers). But these folks just couldn't make Lester's choreography work.
Thanks for the post Jeff. Now I can see why Solid Gold failed. I hate this format; no more countdowns? And the women dancers need to get their "sexyback" as Darcel would say.
I know. It's kind of wierd, the girls outfits got more conservative and while the mens' outfits were looser, they showed more skin (ie., unbuttoned shirts, etc). I wonder who's idea that was?
The change in the format and the lack of countdowns....was that due to a different choreograhper? Hard to replace Darcel and Pam regardless.
You would probably no better than me, but seems like dancers Tony and Alex often wore tops that basically were just sleeves and Tony would dance with no shirt on.
I have a lot of the earlier days of SG... During the earlier seasons Tony and Alex (and Cooley) danced either shirtless, with open shirts, and open vests. Once Steve and Marked joined, the men were "covered up" with the exception of maybe a dozen performances. So basically Seasons 5-6 the men were very conservative. What little I have of Season 7 ( I have none of Season 8) the men showed more skin while the women showed less. Can someone confirm Season 8???
HAHA!! You posted part of the swimsuit clip I sent to you recently. As in putting another song over the original song is a great idea. There are many great songs from the post SG era that will work well with SG footage! Thanks Charmed!!!
As in Paul, I would have loved to see him dance in the earlier days with Alex and Tony. To me, the three of them are the best male dancers.. If Steve was on at least 1/2 of a season, he would definately be on that list!!!
For me, Paul was probably the one dancer of the "Lester Era" that should have been on in earlier seasons of SG. His talent was super and he had a great look about him. I also would add Leslie Cook to this list too.
the substitution was well done, i wouldnt have known any better if you hadn't said so.
Thanks for uploading. As you know i am not a big fan of the later years, I find myself distracted and bored when I watch the routines. With the earlier years, I was like what are they going to do next, and couldnt wait to see them. This stuff I find it hard not to yawn.
Thanks for the thumbs up on my music switch! I know what you mean about the later years, but they did have some talented dancers in the end. Unfortunately they can only do so much with lack luster choreography.
For me, there was some lack luster choreography during Season 7, do not know about Season 8. But there were good numbers like the one you posted just now with Paul, Eilene, Audrey, and Gigi. Also, the entire number with Paul and Gigi was great.
wow this post is excellent, I never watched sg87 but the quality and the numbers that you choose are great and I think the principal dancer (girl) was eileen
Thanks for the compliment. No Eileen wasn't the principle dancer for Solid Gold '87 or Solid Gold In Concert was Jamiliah Lucas. Eileen was let go after this season.
WHERE CAN I MEET THIS MAN ???????? I saw him in sister act 2 and have been stalking the internet to find him ever since hahahahah !!!! !

I thought it was great to see 3 sexy men for a change on SG. In my opinion the new format was the hardest part to accept.
