@metaldude82 during this whole scene, it is the old lady, the real guy is trapped in "the further". she was pretending to be the guy, and as mentioned earlier in the film, she was revealed whenever the guy got his picture taken, so the lady that just took the picture was doing so because she saw it was the old woman's hand, and took the picture to reveal that it was indeed the old woman

But when Josh went to the further he saw himself as a child trapped their.( the child who led him to his son) and josh looked at the mirror he saw the real him, he saw his soul (the old lady).this is when she remembered everything,now she is visible on camera.

@chadunn13 the old lady soul was in him since he was a kid. But the old lady soul lived as she was him. because she didn't know who she was. 'the women made her/him forget when he was a kid about all those stuffs " so the old lady thought she was him. while the tru him was still trapped in the further as you see at the end when she/josh meet his real soul trapped as a kid.when she/josh went the the further and looked at the mirror josh/she remembred everything about who she really is.

@RatedRAli no, thats not what happened. the old lady was the one who the psychic lady was referring to as "insidious". the old lady wouldnt have forgotten who she was....josh forgot about her after the pschic sent her away when he was a kid, but she still remained close to him in the further, until she finally secured her spot in josh's body when he went into the further as an adult to rescue his kid

Explain to me why josh saw himself as the old lady on both sides of the mirror when he looked at it in the further. Explain to me why the old lady didn't appear in their wedding pictures.

@RatedRAli the old lady didnt appear in the later photos because she was forced back when the psychic helped josh as a kid, so she couldnt possess him until he remembered the further and opened up to it, which is why the old lady appears in the mirror. at that time, in the further, she had already possessed him when he left his body, which is why his spirit saw her, but he wasnt the old lady the whole time, or else she would have shown in the wedding photos as him

@chadunn13 you still didn't explain why his soul as a kid was in the further. She wasn't shown in the wedding pictures because she don't know that she was an old lady, she though she was josh. The psychic lady made her forget. thats why at the end, he was acting as normal as usual, when the psychic lady looked weird at him "she saw the soul"he looked at her and said :what? but he knew now who he really is (old lady) she remembered it all, which is why she was shown in the last pic.
