You guys, in a sense, Linkin Park hasn't released new material in a very, very long time. I was kind of impressed by this because it wasn't those same four chords, creating the same indistinguishable, angsty song over and over and over (what it's been for the past several years). I thought, "These guys have a nice sound, why don't they write a song that isn't this fucking shit?" And look at we have here. Not what I expected at all. It's a pleasant surprise.

@CKbass13 LP didnt sell out... hybrid theory and meteora were pretty much the same style, so if they wanted to do more safe money, they would have continued that style which would be selling out in my opinion. but ATS was something totally new and they didnt know if their fans or anybody likes it, so it was a real big risk and it could have failed badly with losing alot of money. so they did exactly the opposite of selling out. they took a risk, tried something new and its totally awesome!

...this album isn't what i expected when i was listening to the catalyst, I don't know what I was expecting, but overall, I'd say I'm pleased what we got. I realy like "when they come for me" that much, but hey, not even linkin park's music is perfect (they come pretty close though).

When I first started listening to the songs on this album, I though it was terrible. Then once I listed to the album as a whole I saw how each song was merely a part of the album, that when combined together made one of my favorite albums. This isn't the Linkin Park of Hybrid Theory, but, at least in my opinion, this is something even better.

New Linkin Park album = strange mix of conceptual, prog rock ideas, and techno / pop / rap

All of the lyrics have good intention, though they may not be the best poetically. Some are. And there's deeper meaning. There's a lot of antigovernment and antiwar ideals conveyed throughout the album.

Interesting. Very interesting. Especially after I thought they had just completely sold out after Collision Course, Transformers, and Minutes to Midnight.

Strange as in, not coming together good, instead simmering and burning out. As Prog. Rock, it's not grandiose enough--it never reaches the heights and majesty that they aim for. The electronica is poor, too happy to match the lyrics, yet too slow and almost droning to keep things interesting. The rap is disposable, as always and the pop elements don't work because the band sounds emasculated. Lyrics are the only decent thing.
