  • That epilogue is one of the greatest in gaming history ♥

  • eh, not total carnage.

  • I remember playing this for 4 or 5 hours trying and failing to finish it.. finally, after having sore and stiff fingers I finished! VICTORY!.

  • they should remake this because bungie isnt making halo anymore so why not make this game better its good but make it for modern shooters

  • @hunterslolvideos it's being done.. slowly but tenaciously... it will be released for free when it's done.

  • @TheNickhis where did you hear this from is there a place i can check out for more info

  • @hunterslolvideos unfortunately our project is closed to the public for now. We will open up so more developers can help out and make the development faster, after we release our demo I'm pretty sure. Our demo will be Pathways into Darkness, however.

  • E P I C

  • I like how at the end of Halo 3 (legendary ending) you see the marathon logo on that forerunner planet... Connection????

  • Marathon > Quake and Doom.

  • @MSoltan1992 and before all this shit came out wolfenstein came first so shut up everyone

  • if anyone can tell me.. I remember my brother having a macintosh.. he also had a game cd. it was holographic and there was a star in the center.. I forgot what the cd was called.. but it had tons of games on it.. can anybody tell me the name of the cd? this game also came in the cd.

  • @JShadow94 I assume that was either the Marathon Trilogy collection, or the Mac Action Sack. I don't remember the Mac Action Sack having a holographic star disc, but the Trilogy wouldn't have "tons" of games, so... *shrug?*

  • what the hell, they redid the version on XBL, they took off that little monitor deal with all the weapons and ammo types, why why why??? This version looks awesome. Does anyone know what compatability you need on a laptop or computer to play this?

    Thanks.

  • @bimm3rguy8807 I also believe that Bungie should have made a real sequel to Marathon 2, since Marathon: Infinity was some sort of alternate sequel. If you read Durandal's last message in M2, he technically says that he will be taking you to another planet because something is going on there.

Such thing never happens in Marathon: Infinity, since you seem to be traveling through alternate realities, some in which the events of M2 never happened.

  • Frog Blast the Ventcore and...

    LONG LIVE MARATHON!!!

  • I also agree with what "Uncalfacka" has said.

Bungie should remake the Marathon Trilogy with today's graphics and remixed music, 16 player LAN and online gaming. They could also add a jumping button and make it so that the three AI's narrate the messages you read at the terminals in their respective voices.

Even though i already own the Marathon Trilogy for the Macintosh, i would gladly pay 60 bucks for a remade version since those games defined my childhood and pre-teen years.

  • This video sure brings back memories!. I used to own a Macintosh computer with all three original marathon games, and played the crap outta them each day that i could.

I have played the games again using Aleph One, but it's not the same. In the Aleph One version of M1, the first level starts with a Pathways into Darkness reference, this was done as means of alluding that PID and Marathon exist in the same universe.

This reference is not present in the original M1 game for the Macintosh.

  • HOW THE FUCK DO YOU PRONOUNCE S'pht!?

  • @GTSRyan Uhh.. S-fut? S-foot? Argh, I don't know either.

  • Bungie relly should remake all its past games for the upcoming 720

  • ohh I miss the days of countless "Kill the man with the ball" network matches in the shareware version, in the computer lab at school during lunchbreak.

  • meaningless comment removed!

  • @Melenia1000 for any one that wants to know, he said Marathon's logo ripped off quake, and then he said that Marathon has no original content.

  • @xXdemon467Xx

CRAP! i knew i shoulda put (no sarcasm intended)

o well, my mistake. Nope, no sarcasm here = no internet trolls here

    :D

  • @xXdemon467Xx

k, your very welcome to point me wrong... =)

  • @xXdemon467Xx thats what i PREVIOUSLY said, yes...

but forget that, might as well mark it as spam, huh?

You get no where with new knowledge when your a fanboy.

like saaaay, the argument of Metroid ripping off of Halo, when rlly, Metroid was created in the 1980's

    :\

  • @Melenia1000 Metroid and Halo only have two things in common, both have aliens and both have the main character in a suit of armor.

  • @xXdemon467Xx great, now I'm labeled as "one of those kids"

rlly, I'd be glad if you could educate me and let MYSELF come to know about this more, rather than putting me up for troll bait...

You want your example? Take a look at Tehgrimreaper for a second... >_>

besides, I was still new to the knowledge of marathon when I wrote those comments, and by now, you think I would've learned SOMETHING? rlly? I hope to end this here...

  • Dare I say it, I think this game has a better storyline than Halo.

  • I love this game. FROG BLAST THE VENT CORE!

  • 2:00 That a penis??

  • @RusVon i get your point. i know how halo was going to be... maybe better for you if it had been an rts... what im saying is that halo wouldnt be the commercial hit it is today if it had been released for macs and pcs only. too bad that microsoft can wipe their asses with dollars....

  • @andrewwk6 There is no possible way to know what it may or may not have done or been. Unless you've been to a parallel universe where Halo wasn't bought by Microsoft.. in which case.. PLEASE! TAKE ME WITH YOU!

  • @pansyhater lol i dont need to be in a parallel universe to know that. halo became popular because of the xbox... on pc and mac it would be nothing today, another generic pc first person shooter

  • @andrewwk6 Whaaat? I know this is a bit of a late reply, but dude: you've got it 100% backwards. Halo MADE the xbox. The halo series alone has sold the xbox and the xbox 360. While there is no way to know how the xbox would have done without halo, it definitely would not have done anywhere near as well. In fact, it may have been a flop.

  • @pansyhater lol, i think its true on both sides... the xbox became popular because of halo... halo has great sales because of the xbox... im glad it happened that way :)

  • @pansyhater Halo is the xbox.

  • @RusVon lol are you serious?? halo would have been nothing if it had been released for macs

  • Bungie = greatest video game company of all time!

  • @matizzle32 yeah, i just wish they didnt sell all their good titles to shitty companies

  • @Melenia1000

    Marathon - 1994

    Marathon 2 - 1995

    Quake - 1996

  • @Acecrack rlly? damn, did these guys at least have SOME kind of creativity? o.o'

  • @Melenia1000 Who?

  • @Acecrack

    nvm... i think i confused myself x.x

  • @Acecrack melenia removed his comment. what did he said? i wanna know.

  • @FthFpsGamer97 he said Marathons logo ripped off Quakes logo and it has no original content. Then he was proved wrong by about everybody on this video.

  • @1337Ninja3000 but in a certain sense, marathon and marathon is before quake... right?

  • @FthFpsGamer97 Yes, that is why his comment was removed and you so a ton of people flaming him.

  • Acecrack started this video from a place it took me days to get to when I played this back in 1996 :)

before you get to this part, you pass a whole level with 3-4 of these big boss-like hovering things, then need to dive and swim ALL THE WAY back through lava!

even when I did this, my health bar was less than 5%... insane level..

and there were earlier levels that would just blast you with enemies to see how long you last, so this level isn't even the hardest....

this was one HARDCORE FPS game!

  • @Melenia1000 You got owned faggot.

  • @Tehgrimreaper lol, i guess i did

    ; )

faggot: a bundle of sitcks bound together for, preferably, fire wood.

get your facts right! rofl :P

  • @Melenia1000 Yeah because you know whenever Im out in the woods, or making a fire, I ask my friends to "Pass me that pile of faggots" Gtfo you douche bag.

  • @Tehgrimreaper lol, "Pass me that pile of faggots" made me laugh... literally, it did...

    x_x

  • @Melenia1000 gg

  • @Melenia1000 dude bungie no make quake is only a copy of marathon xD

  • @Melenia1000 wow your a complete dumbass

  • @makemydayjew11 Learn the difference between your and you're before calling someone else a dumbass.

  • @makemydayjew11 Hand the retard award to Melenia1000

  • @makemydayjew11 "you're"

  • @Melenia1000 - Ah ha! Your precious "Quake" ripped off Marathon!

  • @ZealousSangheili

meh, Quake is not precious to me. DooM ftw!

  • bungie started out with the worst graphics ive ever seen...but halo reach....MY GOD

  • Is it justme or do the Pfor seem more persistant than the Covenant?

  • How come the graphics look so nice? Did you use a high-res texture pack?

  • NO Bungie's FIFTH game...

First came Operation Desert Storm (a tank sim), then there was Minotaur: The Labyrinths of Crete, THEN it was Pathways Into Darkness which was their first commercial success.

  • 14 Years ago I own an I mac with the first marathon installed since that moment I get fascinated with the game & earn money to buy marathon durandal & Marathon Infinity love that games such a shame they where nearly forgotten now days bungie must rereleased them in x box PS3 & Wii best first person game ever

  • instead of durandel is halo cuz it has the same robot thingy that helps him

  • i had the 1st marathon game on the macintosh performa! remember those!?

  • hell Bungie should make another Marathon game after they finish Halo Reach!

  • The one with fewer than 100 views is better than this one

  • There, I uploaded Marathon Infinity's ending

'cause it was the only one in the trilogy that wasn't already up.

  • And then all of that text is negated in Marathon Infinity. So basically, you played through all of that for nothing. May as well not read that final text.

  • Allright, just want to thank everyone who answered me, I've been checking the links you guys gave me and... IT EFFIN DOESN'T ASNWER A DAMN ! in fact it brings more questions :-p but still, I love the brainstorming it gives :-D

  • Do you have the original mac game for your cpu? If you do congrats, because I did not hear about this game until I heard it was going to be released on Xbox live in a game informer. Please answer back because i only have the Aelph One version of the game for windows.

  • It's not a newer version it all, infact if anything it's reduced quality and an older form of the game, bungie redid the game for the xbl version with beter quality.

  • those shotguns were awesome!!!! XD good times with game, thanks =)

  • whats better doom or marathon

  • @crbbatista in my opinion i would have to say doom but marathon's more of a puzzle than doom

  • @crbbatista Well, Doom focuses on action. Although Marathon still has pretty good action, it puts a lot more emphasis on the story- probably one of the first fun video games to do so. I personally like Marathon more, but hey, they're both worth downloading! They're both free!

  • Odd, I remember the last line of text was something along the lines of

    "....Durandal was laughing"

  • @Rozom ya I remember that too. Something like All over the system, deep in the system core, durandal was laughing.

Oh so many memories from my youth... good times.

  • Halo Series > Marathon. Just my opinion.

  • hard to believe those were the best graphics of the time lol now jsut seeing it makes my eyes hurt xD

  • u demolished the final boss like it was nothing lol

  • Why the fuck does the audio sound like anus!

  • vidmastah

  • worst audio quality ive ever heard but good game

  • I have the Original CD =D

  • ah 1995 classic

  • steve levinson did a really good analysis of infinity's story in parallel with the majorly kickass rubicon expansion. it made sense to me after that.

    google marathon rubicon volunteers

  • Marathon 1 was the best, but they put 2 up. It has the most boring story line in the trilogy!

  • @KampferXeon

Most people disagree one was great 2 had Dundral at his best rampant AI goodness and 3 was mind screw ahoy!

  • Well, why didn't they put the entire trilogy up?

  • @KampferXeon I think it had something to do with one of two things multiplayer that was easy to get running on Xbox Live or that they choose the most popular and the live version did not sell well enough to spend money putting the other two on there

  • I never said the storyline was boring, I said that it was the most boring in the trilogy.

  • cant play this on macbook pro! help!

  • download aleph one (google is your friend)

  • Then download the Mac version of Aleph One

  • oh, and whoever made the video kicks ass at the game

  • the only way to jump is to do a grenade jump, which is where you fire a grenade at your feet, usually done in combination with running. just make sure you have full health before trying it.

  • Somehow, I can't figure out how to jump on this game. I've tried every button! Except, maybe it's not possible on the 360.

  • @gtasa2004

Lol! Sorry mate, Marathon was created before jumping in FPS's was invented (I think). Like Doom, it's impossible to jump in ANY version of the game.

  • lol there is no jump

  • You were never able to jump in Marathon... except from rocket/grenade-jumping

  • is tehre a place where I can learn more of the marathon universe? I just bought the game on XBL and the story is confuse to me.

Who is the hero, does he have any background? who's that Robert Blake? Why it doesn't have any romance like MC & Cortana?(that one is a joke sorry :-p ) .

  • There's a wiki called Bungiepedia; I bet it has more information about the Marathon universe, try there.

  • thx man.

  • There is also Pfhorpedia.

  • Look up Marathon's Story for all your Marathon needs. :-)

  • @yoomazir The Hero is a Cyborg that worked on a ship called the Marathon, that became under attack. After the events of Marathon 1 the Cyborg was put into stasis against his will by Durandal, the AI ingame, and brought out to do his bidding for Marathon 2. Robert Blake is the head of a resistance on the planet where the game takes place.

  • @yoomazir Hey dood, screw Bungie Pedia.... go to marathon.bungie.org/story/

Hans Sinclair writes there...he created the story. To me, Hans Sinclair is surely one of the Gods.

Write me back if you like.

  • @yoomazir Oh hey! I know this is late, but you can also try Marathon's story! Just google it! It's answered a lot of questions for me.

  • @yoomazir The hero is a security officer, he is never given a name they all say "YOU".

Robert Blake is a part of the surviving group, and later becomes the leader when "YOU" get lost from Durandal.

  • @yoomazir I know I'm... a LITTLE late to the party here.. but there's an entire site devoted to this if you haven't found it yet; marathon.bungie.org/story/

  • @yoomazir

    marathon (dot) bungie (dot) org/story/puzzles.html

    Even better.

  • Nice going. Now try it on Total Carnage setting.

  • Comment removed

  • No to correct people about Bungies first game. It was a pong remake for the mac, yea, nothing special at all.

  • No, Bungie's THIRD game...

First came Pathways Into Darkness, then there was Marathon, and then Marathon 2...

  • @Thek213 Actually before Pathways they had a pair of others... some LAN-focused hack and slasher, and a Desert Storm themed strategy or action game. I remember the box art from old Mac Warehouse/Macmall type catalogs :)

  • @Thek213 Actually Operation Desert Storm was the first game. Then came Minatour. Pathways into Darkness and the rest came after those two. :)

Been supporting them from the beginning. Frog blast the vent core!

  • @bakaushi86 Oh, I didn't forget those; so many hours of my teenage life devoted to Minotaur...

I actually meant to say that it was their third First-Person Shooter game.

  • @Thek213 Hehehe, likewise with myself with Operation Desert Storm. xD

Bungie has gone far with the shooting games, always way ahead of the rest. Marathon had quite the features for a mid-90s game. Swimming, being able to 'look' around. Glad to know they are still around.

  • @Thek213 Pathways into Darkness = dope

  • @Thek213 But before that (I'm a necromancer, I know this is old) there was Gnop, Minotaur (or whatever, it's a multiplayer maze game off the top of my head), Operation Desert Storm or some such, and then the Myth series.

  • @Thek213 so was Mythic 4th?

  • @Thek213 Actually, you are wrong. This was somethin' like their 5th game. They made a game called Desert Storm, Gnop!, and Minotaur.

  • @KampferXeon Read the followup comments I posted a month or so ago, please.

  • @Thek213 ohhh, I didn't see that

  • i suck at marathon durandal...i get lost all the time and the plot is so hard to understand =(

  • If you think Durandal's plot is hard, try Infinity. :-)

  • Aw god dude, Infinity, with its Dream levels and time-traveling and team-switching and countless "GOD DAMN I don't understand this shit" moments. Good times bro.

  • your marathon 2 is different! for example the pink energy thing have better quality, mine is worse, is that a newer version or what?

  • High resolution textures. You can get them along with Aleph One (the Windows freeware version of the game engine) and the specific game files from the website I'm putting on the description of this and the other videos.

  • halo reach is a start from the begging its better than this prequel

  • if u read the credits at the end it says

"pfhor scientists disassembled and removed the AL leela from the marathon, loading her aborad a vessel bound for pfhor. But the ship fell into the hands of a nar privateer bewtween jumps."

is it just me or does that sound like halo?

    cortana was a AL

they were in hyper space (jump)

if u read on it says they where never found.

it does sound like halo to me

  • One it is not AL its AI

  • halo is the prequel to marathon... after odst, reach, and 3 for pc, bungie is working on the marathon franchise

  • no, its in a diffrent year, halo is also in a diffrent universe, sorry to say

  • last i checked, nobody has ever really said that. just because its in a different year means nothing.

  • Honestly i think the Halo series is a COMPLETELY NEW OUTLOOK on human/alien warfare.

The time line and plot compared against the two productions do not fit. If in Marathon, the Pfhor were the first alien species discovered by humans in the 28th century, then why is it that in Halo the humans are fighting the Covenant in the 26th century?

See the difference? Either Bungie made a very fatal typo, OR they had another idea for a NEW VIEW on warfare between humans and aliens.

  • i see ur point, but bungie would have to make changes like that to make the halo franchise understandable and enjoyable

  • i totally agree dude

  • Either that or if Bungi plans to remake the Marathon series (likely within the next few years as Halo is over and they want money) they will just retcon the entire thing

  • Who says the Earth in Halo is the same Earth in Marathon? Different planets, in different galaxys.

  • so somehow he went to an all new universe? thats just stupid he got left out there not blown into another dimention. wasnt the marathon the first ship earth sent into space and thats set hundreds of years ahead of halo. where in halo they already have colonys on other worlds. the only way i see the games coming together is game play but heavily updated. did you know that from the guys that made marathon only one of them is still at bungie. they are linked but not in story.

  • thts not true he did get freezed but he didnt mean to orbit to tht planet and if u read the books it tell u all this but i didnt

  • by the way, halo and marathon arnt related to each other, none of them are prequals or sequals towards each other

  • this game is the best, forge is the coolest thing about it, my dad makes gigantic lvls with it. marathon is the first basic version of halo, halo got the hunter and lvl ideas from it. ( thier both bunjie games). has anyone played marathon tempus irae or morgana?

  • Morgana's very cool, but I love Tempus Irae. Morgana wins on originality, but Tempus Irae is so fun and so beautiful. Terrific level design. I used to make marathon maps (I made a few for Eternal), and Tempus Irae was a huge influence.

  • would of been epic if they had a multiplayer segment to this game i would search everywhere on the web for it :P

  • Oh, but there is online multiplayer for this game. People playing it are scarce though.

  • @Acecrack Actually, there are quite a few people playing now. In fact, more people play Marathon online than Halo computer online!

  • @chrisking4ftw Actually, there are quite a few people playing now. In fact, more people play Marathon online than Halo computer online!

  • Marathon and Halo are both great games, I don't see why you have to tell Halo fans to "jam a blunt fork in your eye".

  • i think it has a lot to do with bungie abandoning the mac platform wholesale after being acquired by microsoft. bad blood between apple fans and microsoft fans, and bungie was allied with apple for a very long time

  • i remember this game it was soo cool my aunt had it for mac...i never got the name..i though it was called marathon 2000 but then i got the names right...this game was so cool..i played it when i was like..6 0r 7..now im like 14...hahah and i didnt know that this made halo..so cool..

  • Personally, I love Marathon more. This game is what made Halo...Halo.

The good ol' days killing Pfhor...priceless.

  • halo is tenically a prequil to marathon

  • No, it's not, kijonco.

  • relly becuse look at all the clues

  • I thnk halo is better than this but thats probably cuz of the oldness... of this game and me being to lazy to look up this game any further

  • I honestly don't know why either. Both are amazing games, and yet the Marathon fans seem to hate the Halo fans for no reason.

  • More or less, it will probably remain a mystery.... o_O

  • yeah i understand, because there has been traces of connected storyline between halo 1 and the original marathon series, cant we all just get along????

  • the juggernauts aren't orange???

    en que dificultad esta??

  • I don't see why they should be.
