Why would he have the engine on to begin with and have it in reverse when he has been pulled over by a police car? Normally you shut down to demonstrate you aren't going to run from the police. Besides, you could see the brakes go on, being put into gear, brakes off and then he accelerated hard into the police car. If it was accidental - which it appears it wasn't - then revoke his license because he would have demonstrated he can't drive safely and isn't fit to hold a license.

It was an accident. The guy had been nervous about being pulled over, as is understandable. He didn't realize he had backed into the cruiser until his car was up in the air. He was an old man.

They didn't show the whole police car video, it happened when the officer returned into his cruiser and old man was trying to leave. He put it in reverse instead of drive, old man was a bit too nervous I guess. Way to change something around on a slow news day to make it look more exciting that it is, anything for ratings I guess.

If the driver had been a 20-year old male, they'd have sent him up the river. If the driver had been a 20-year old female, she would have received a larger fine and probation. If the driver had been middle-aged and middle-class, the punishment would have hinged on whom they know and the quality of their legal counsel. Justice sure as hell ain't blind!

@EmbraceALLnations I saw another video on this, it said he tried to convince the cop he was speeding because his throttle stuck, in the other video you can hear the engine bouncing off the rev limiter and the cop telling him to turn the key off. I'm surprised he even got a ticket, fine and safety classes just for that reason
