I was aboard the USS Hawes, in the same battle group as the Cole. We were supposed to go there in Aden that day, but for some reason we didn't refuel. As fate would have it, we were spared but our other shipmates perished.
I can't express my sadness and sorrow to their families. May they all rest in peace.
My husband trained Clodfelter on the USS Cole. Our hearts were truely broken that terrible day, my nightmare..happened to another. K. Clodfelter and the others are always remembered in our home. May God be with the brave and fallen.
She was my home away from home for three and a half years and til this day I am proud and honored to have been part of the crew to repair her in the shipyards and bring her back to life. I was one of the first original crewmembers to serve on board after the repairs were completed. What you people saw in the news and in other media is far from the true magnitude of the damage incurred. There are photos to prove it but they will never be seen by the public eye.

While others were giving my mom a hard time, He ALWAYS said "Good morning Mrs. Chamberlain" and "Have a good evening Mrs. Chamberlain"...
