Short answer: Yes

Long answer: There is nothing wrong in dualboot your ps3, so you can have both linux and the original OS. BUT Sony has made and update for their OS that checks if other OS is also installed, and if so you are not allowed to play online!

Another thing is that there is no driver for the gfx card in linux.

So.. If you install Linux you cannot use the gfx card in linux adn you can't play online.

In the last update (a patch up for version 3) Sony removed the install other os option. I think that if I were to reset it to the factory default I might be able to reset it to version 1(I bought mine when v 1 was still new)
